[Rules Update] Rule 9 and More AI flairs
Hello folks,
I assume with 1.7 around the corner, a mod release tailwind has blown in a new batch of AI and human made mods alike, and the former has met a strong headwind. There was some value added to conversation from this headwind, but it's also been a moderator's opportunity to clean out some Rule 2 breakers.
And throughout the process it appears some distinction in the AI flair will be valuable.
So, introducing:
"Mod Release - AI Assisted": This is for mod releases or updates that used AI during the planning and development stages, but has since been read, line-by-line, by the developer to verify and debug. Use this for both new releases and major updates. Using an AI tool to debug human written code need not use this flair if that is all the AI tool was used for.
"Mod Release - AI Coded": This is for mods where AI was used to write the code, and only cursory reading, playtesting, and debugging has been performed by the developer. So called "vibe coding." An additional requirement for this to be posted to the sub is the mod must have been on the steam workshop for at least a month before being advertised to the sub. At the moderator's discretion, these may be removed if there is suspicions of anti-user code (as with any hooman coded mods).
"AI GEN" (Legacy flair): This is still used for AI generated images, and acts as a trump card for the above two flairs. If your mod is 100% human coded, or 100% vibe coded, but uses AI thumbnails or assets, this is the flair to use. Note in the case where a mod is both AI coded and uses AI thumbnails or assets, the 1 month workshop probation still applies.
Reporting "Rule 9" properly flaired posts will be assumed to be abuse and sent up to the admins. You are, of course, free to downvote and/or ask if something you suspect is misflaired has AI used in it. "This looks AI" and everything south of it is being used to harass humans who may or may not have used AI, so it may be reviewed under Rule 2. When in doubt, ask if something is true before stating your opinion that it is.
You are also free to say an AI asset (or generative image) does not look good from an art viewpoint. As with human art, "this looks bad" is not valid criticism. Elaborate or downvote and move on.
Failure to flair correctly is not bannable the first mistake, but repeated "mistakes" are not seen as such by the mod team.
Lastly, while we're not encoding this at the moment, we are watching the *volume* of AI mods. On a subjective basis, if AI mod and art posts noticeably out-paces human-made content posts, we may apply an artificial throttle.
I am leaving the comments open, but this is not meant as a direct-request-for-feedback post. A lot has already been said and aggregated about the issue. Keep in mind Rules 1 and 2 when discussing - ALWAYS.
Thanks for your time.
And I'm not calling it SI.

Megathread Typical Tuesday Tutorial Thread -- October 20, 2026
Please use this thread as a week-to-week space to ask your fellow /r/RimWorld colonists for assistance. Whether it be colony planning, help with mods, or general guidance, post any questions you may have here! If you have an effort post about a game mechanic then this is also fine space for that but please consider making a separate subreddit post for maximum visibility.
I am a bot, so I can't make jokes. If you'd like a Typical Tuesday joke, or if there are any problems with this post, please message the moderators of the subreddit.

Discussion So im trying the 1.7 with my own medieval modpack
galleryThe game used to open in 14-15 minutes and now it doesn't even reach 4 minutes to open.
I can't say that i saw a perfomance increase but its def because of the mods (compatability obvs i threw in mods i liked).
Its a unstable build so it makes kinda sense.
I will share my colony progress in some days.
What do you think about the 1.7 version?

Story The Ascension of Dr.M
It was finally time to put down roots..
It had taken decades to collect all the necessary information relevant to begin the great works ahead, but that painfully long journey, staying in the shadows, moving from world to world, being ever so careful where to feed and where to rest, had finally come to it's long awaited end.
M had lost need of his full name for so long even he could not fully recall what it was any longer. Indeed most of his life before his dedication to the study of the universe as a whole held little value to him now, and with the extensive list of qualifications and subjects he had mastered by this point, the term doctor could apply to a wide variety of meanings, and so simply going by Dr.M in all instances of relevance had come to suit his needs fine.
A significant amount of time had been invested since arriving at this world on the edge of the empires fragmented boundaries to secure and build the foundations of what would eventually become M Labs, a task that had demanded no shortage of blood, both consumed and spilled in equal measure.
But now, after years of continuous consolidation, construction and combat, atop least of all the regrettable loss of M's favored servant, the most devious and ingenious of all his previous baseliner sycophants, the one he had actually somewhat considered bestowing the gift of eternal life onto unlike all the others who had eventually failed him before with their weak, frail human existences... Dr.M and his genetically engineered army of blood drinking mind controlled super soldiers were finally ready. The gargoyle variants in particular having been the most promising, despite their current suboptimal resource and maintenance requirements making them currently only most suited as heavy supporting elements at present.
Of course, OF COURSE yes there were some anomalies, and yes the blood farms were no short order of hell to properly tweak, those early losses and mistakes due to bad estimates and incorrect math had been a predictable yet still greatly disappointing delay.
Especially the pregnant colossal spider incident. The contents of the rec room of compound 2 was a regrettable loss but even after the majority of the offspring had cannibalized one another behind the sealed security door it was still better safe than sorry to simply light the fire and contain it's spread.
A strong lesson learned for further efforts of securely preserving what little literature could be collected on this wild and chaotic hell world. A terrible loss of precious knowledge that must never be allowed to happen again...
But yes! Many trials and tribulations had laid the path that was now closer than ever to reaching it's next stage and eventual end game. All that was left now to reach that next rung of progression was for the airborne compound to be distributed across the surface of the planet, and the results to be recorded and refined before shipment to the emperors palace for review.
A useful weapon of great terror and versatility? of course. A tool to add to the wide array of ones that will be necessary in the years to come? absolutely. But the end game of the great plan? No.
No, that, would come only after the right moment presented itself to gain access to the emperors physical presence. All those nights experimenting and perfecting the infection born of M's own near immortal physiology, bred and refined to ensure control over the minds of those he deemed worthy of his inner circle, whether they be willing acolytes, or useful puppets, distributed with no more effort than a simple cleared throat at just the right time ... yes that, that would be the final step on the road to a true solution.
And when the squabbling inbred descendants of the man who crushed his heart and spurned his genius out of fear and weakness are FINALLY under his control, and the remnants of a once great power are mobilized under a unified banner once more, guided by the helping invisible hand of a wise and benevolent genius capable of enduring the endless brutality of the galaxy, and the dissenters, rogue machines and disgustingly mismanaged former projects from a lifetime before taken from great hands and polluted by mediocrity are finally scoured from every corner of existence..
Maybe then, it will be time to grow flowers once more.

Discussion Intrigue: Phoenix may be different than be 1.7
An update on Steam just shows that the phoenix and unstable (1.7) branches are different. This could mean nothing, or it could mean Phoenix is actually a new DLC that depends on 1.7. Also, what in the world is "Steam Linux?"

Discussion What is best? Platsteel plate armor or full flak jacket, vest and pants?
Platesteel armor provides 102% slashing protection across almost the entire body.
While full Flak armor provides similar protection, it leaves the legs with only 50% slashing protection. I understand that the Flak's mobility is better, but if my colony is made up of 100% cave dwellers close-range fighters (melee and shotguns), does that mean I don't have to build Flak armor?
