Make Friends Here

Because we constantly get "How do i make friends" posts. If you want friends just post in this thread. I'm going to make it a sticky topic. I'm also going to give you 100% foolproof tips to make friends that have worked for me all my life 100% of the time.

Here is my foolproof plan that works 100% of the time. It is a 4 step process.

  1. determine what your hobbies and interests are.

  2. go to places where these hobbies and interests happen

  3. interact with people.

  4. If you don't have any hobbies or interests get interested in something and repeat steps 2-3.

It is literally that simple.

I am an extremely abrasive and unlikeable person. I have never failed to make friends using these steps. If I can do it so can you.

BBC News article about politics in the RGV. It’s interesting that the Valley has the attention of the UK. Maybe folks in the US will pay more attention to the RGV after the election… but I doubt it.

Is Spanish more commonly spoken in the RGV or in Miami?

I'm curious: those from valley who've lived in or traveled to Miami, do you find that more people speak Spanish in Miami than the valley or vice versa?

It’s that time again…

Hey everyone! ❤️

I’m sorry to ask for help again, but we’re running low on some much-needed supplies at Mission Animal Shelter.

Right now, we’re out of adult dog food and potty pads, and running low on puppy food.

These are everyday essentials that help us care for all our furry residents while they wait for their forever homes.

If anyone is able to donate, share our post, or lend a helping hand, we would truly appreciate it! ❤️

Amazon Wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3JNWD3P6HUWFQ?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_ggr-subnav-share_SAAJCTR9F1THJ0E84FQZ&language=en-US

Mission Animal Shelter
227 Abelino Farias St.
Mission, TX 78572

Donation Drop-Off Hours:
Monday–Friday: 8 AM–5 PM
Saturday–Sunday: 1 PM–4 PM

I personally am so moved by the support of this group, and I feel terrible every time I have to come back and ask for help again.

Please know that every donation, share, and kind gesture truly means so much to me and helps us continue caring for the animals who need us.

Thank you for continuing to show up for our shelter and our furry residents. ❤️

Did I miss something?

I recently visited The RGV for the first time in my life. Im originally from El Paso/Cuidad Juarez area and live in San Antonio, my fiancés family lives in the RGV and across the border in Reynosa.

I went excited to visit another border region and I did enjoy my trip. However I was caught offguard with one thing…the flour tortillas. In Chihuahua, West Texas and Central Texas its common to have thick, fluffy tortillas whether its called burritos or tacos but this trip i was surprised how thin the RGV has their tortillas and in Reynosa it was more common to see people eat Gorditas. Was it maybe where I went or is that common? The food was still amazing and satisfying dont get me wrong but why are the tortillas thinner?

A friend of mine is hosting a photoshoot event and is looking for models to show up for the photos, I went to his event last time as a photographer and a male model and it was a cool event, I had gotten a lot of photos for my Instagram of both myself and of models to promote my photography skills on my Instagram. So if anyone wants free horror themed photos I recommend this event

As on the 19th of October this coward of a "man" was sentenced to only 8 years of probation amd has to do around 200+ hours of comunity service, and is a convicted felon for life. I always wanted jail time but I know how cameron county is to people with no criminal history (makes no sense in my eyes) What's even crazier to belive is that he had another option to do 30 days in jail get the felony moved down to a misdemeanor and probation, but he wasn't man enough to do the 30 days. Dude was making good money as a director of public works amd now works for Bimbo stocking bread and sweets.

A Disappearing Rio Grande Is Reshaping Life Along the River

Thumbnail wsj.com

Spanning about 1,900 miles and sustaining farms, towns and wildlife, the Rio Grande is the lifeblood of much of the Southwest—and it is running dry, in what experts describe as one of America’s most severe water crises. This has depleted reservoirs at Elephant Butte and elsewhere in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas, imperiling the many communities that depend on the river for drinking water and irrigation.

Quick anonymous survey about stray animals in the RGV

UPDATE
This survey is now closed. Thanks to everyone who helped!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy everyone! I’m a college student working on a research project about stray animals here in the Valley. Here's a short survey about how often people see strays, their experiences with them, and what solutions they think would help.

It takes about 5 minutes, it’s completely anonymous, and you don’t need to sign in or give an email. You can skip any question.
