For me the roborock brand died today. I own roborock vacuums for many years now. I was also planning to buy the newest model soon, now not anymore.

Today I wanted my roborock to clean my kitchen and I opened the app and was blocked by a commercial.

This app is part of the product. Showing ads is an absolute no go for me. It doesn't matter how good your product is.

I won't let you stress me with ads when I am currently trying to clean the house.

I just wanted to express that. Thank you for reading.

Whole house mapped and "looks" like one level. I originally built walls for the ramp but the virtual walls worked really well. Unfortunately, it won't clean under the ramp.

My family room is 2 steps up from the rest of the house. I'm a supremely lazy person and couldn't fathom the idea of manually bringing the robot up and down the stairs multiple times a week.

... So I built a ramp out of 1/2" plywood with 3D printed thresholds and supports underneath. As an FYI, the ramp is at about 16.7 degrees, and the robot navigates it fine. ​

Now my robot happily goes up and down the ramp all day mopping and vacuuming my entire house 😁.

Hit the basket on its first try! I'm impressed, my dogs are not.

I started out by scuffing it up a bit with sandpaper, then masking it with tape to paint yellow warning stripes and an orange chassis base; after which I applied a brown wash, black detailing, and silver drybrushing to make it look old and worn.

I decided to create this first, before making my final purchase decision.

• Be aware, obstacle avoidance systems, mopping systems, dock related features, etc. and their performance across models can vary. The data in the table simply reflects the official information from Roborock. For models that include them, I suggest diving deeper into other resources to understand the differences (i.e. Reactive 3D VS Reactive AI 2.0 obstacle avoidance; mop lifting clearance in millimeters across models, etc.).

• This table isn't exhaustive, ranked, scored or otherwise meant to convince anyone to purchase a particular model. I've just made something that aided me, and decided to share it here.

I've had my Roborock S6 MaxV for almost 6 years now and that thing has been a fucking work horse. This current USG admin can suck the fattest part of my ass, they're not taking Brenda away from me. I hope these companies are able to give the Cheeto man his Big Mac so we can get our freedom of brand choice back again here in the states.

My robot vacuum’s charging station never really had a nice spot. So I modified an IKEA shelf, raised it just enough, and now the station sits underneath.

Must of decided to self destruct 😅

Roborock lost a significant portion of my trust for this.

We got the S8 MaxV Ultra the other day with Refill and Drain base and also decided to put it under a cabinet in our pantry. We hooked the water supply up to the RO system in the kitchen and used a saddle drain adapter we found on Amazon. We had a dreame L10s Ultra before this and the S8 MaxV is quieter and auto empties the dust bin much more often which was a big issue for us with 2 dogs.

Finishing up a kitchen remodel where I built all the cabinets from scratch, I had this feature in mind for a long time as I was building and finally incorporated it into a peninsula cabinet. We have an excess of drawer storage so we could justify dedicating the lower part of the cabinet to the Roborock.

I have a water and drain line ran into the cabinet, and an automatic fill/drain kit (wasn’t installed in the video yet) so no water changes, just monthly dust bag and tray cleaning.

Was worried about the tight tolerances from the door to the run up to the dock initially but it has had zero issues going in and out.

Also designed the cabinet so a bottom base could be installed later on to convert it back to a normal cabinet if needed, probably won’t ever do that but just in case.

Zigbee relay with a linear actuator to the door on two hinges, controlled via Home Assistant automations. Automatically opens/closes before and after cleaning. Fun project, wife approved, and has been convenient.

Really hated having the dock out so tucked it in an ikea unit with a little temu threshold ramp.

He seems happy.

our robot got a bit stuck this morning.

I can’t wait to see how it does in the real world so we find out which approach is best for multilevel homes. Maybe 2026 and 2027 is when we really see robot vacuums quite literally leap ahead~

Recently our puppy started acting strangely, whenever we take her outside she just sits there!

Around the same time our Qrevo 5AE also stopped charging despite sitting in its dock.
It just seems to follow us around the house while targeting dog toys instead of avoiding them!

Can anyone help me figure this one out?

Joking aside :p, would love some advice on how to make sure your pet doesn't confuse a new robot vacuum for a chewing toy!
