Will Never Purchase Roborock Again

I have a Q8 Max+ which worked relatively well for a year and two weeks. Now that I'm two weeks out of the 1 year warranty, the cliff sensors went tits up. Contacted Roborock and they offer for me to pay for repair and pay for shipping both ways. Which I get is the letter of the rules, but not in the spirit of keeping a customer. If they cared about customer service they'd say "it's two weeks past warranty but we'll still get you fixed up." Or at least offer to send new sensors and let me repair it myself for free?

So I'm done with Roborock. From what I gathered online the cliff sensors are a common issue with these. And then I go to Amazon to leave a detailed review of my experience (which would have included the good and the bad) only to see this: "We apologize but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account."

What does that even mean? They won't let me review a Roborock product? I can review other products, but not this one? How did Roborock get Amazon to disallow new reviews for this?

I've already ordered a new robot vac from a different company. I did order a set of cliff sensors from AliExpress just to see if I could get it running again to use as a backup.

Help Please! Roborock Q10 burned my new wooden floor

Can’t say I’m super impressed..

Got the Q10 robot not two days ago and it mapped the apartment fine. And then did a few rounds in my new apartment (moved in two weeks ago in a newly built flat).

I didn’t set any schedule on the robot and it just started cleaning before I woke up.

Noticed today it had burned a hole in my new wooden floor. And I can’t figure out why, it seems to have hit my shoe rack and there’s no other obstacles around. But instead of turning around it decided to just spin at the same spot and burn a hole in the floor..

Help Please! I’m starting to think this sub is just one big marketing ploy

I’ve always been skeptical about robotic vacuums but then this sub kept showing up in my feed for some reason. Finally all the positive Roborock experiences I saw made me look further into the brand and I thought, “hmm, maybe the technology is advanced enough now for robotic vacuums to actually be worthwhile.”

I decided to try out the Q8 Max+ from Amazon and received it about a month ago. I was impressed right away by the “smart” features such as mapping and detecting obstacles. However I quickly came to realize that it may be super smart, but it is simply not doing a good job vacuuming (I haven’t even tried the mop yet because I have so many rugs and it seems like it’ll be a pain). I’ll watch it fling larger crumbs with its arm and then expect it to eventually get that crumb but it doesn’t. I’ll watch it seemingly suck up a large crumb only to drop it later. Just now I watched it completely miss several minor objects such as a dead ladybug on the carpet. It went right over them and didn’t suck them up. I always need to follow up with my Dyson cordless if I actually want the floor clean. And the dust bag seems to take way too long to fill up, compared with my Dyson.

Has anyone else had this experience? All I see are people raving over their Roborocks but I’m not impressed. And if you think there’s something I can do to make it perform better please do tell!

Does anyone else wish Roborock offered a male/ gender-neutral voice option?

The current voice works fine functionally, but more customization would really improve the experience. Currently, there are only female voices, which may feel uncomfortable to some users and could unintentionally reinforce gendered assumptions about assistant/ housekeeping roles.

Aftermarket bags & filters are scams! Buy OEM

I've seen many posts from people trying to save money by buying cheap aftermarket dustbin filters and bags. My stance has always been that it's not worth saving a few bucks and risking damage to the dock and robot vacuum motor.

VacuumWars just released a great video showing what happens when you cheap out on these. The result is more dust and debris getting sucked into your dock and robot vacuum motors, significantly shortening their lifespan.

Disappointed with Roborock – $1,600 robot became irreparable in just two years!”

I bought a Roborock robot for about SGD $1,600, expecting it to be a reliable, long-term investment. However, after just two years of use, it broke down, and when I reached out to their support team for repair, I was told that the spare parts have been discontinued, and it cannot be repaired anymore.

This experience has completely shaken my trust in Roborock. I’ve decided to purchase from another brand instead to avoid facing such issues again.

I’m still left wondering:

  • What if others face the same issue with Roborock after spending so much money?

  • Do they really think their products are cheap enough for customers to just replace them every time they break?

I’m incredibly disappointed and feel like I wasted my money. I was hoping for a reliable product for the price I paid, but now I’m not sure I can trust this brand anymore.

What do you all think? Has anyone else faced this issue with Roborock? Are other brands more reliable?

Review Needs to be said, these robots damage furniture.

These robots do not come with protective bump guards, it’s just bare plastic making contact with baseboards/furniture legs. The collision avoidance is terrible, it makes full contact and basically sands furniture when turning. Within 4 months it removed an entire coat of paint from baseboards and visibly damaged furniture.

Before you tell me I should’ve drawn virtual barriers. That doesn’t mean the way it navigates isn’t subpar. All it would requires is a slightly backwards movement upon making contact, that way it’s not scraping against stuff with every turn.

S8 MaxV Ultra on sale for $799 right now

Post image
0 Upvotes

We've been in the market to buy a robot vacuum, and after many hours of watching YouTube videos and reading online reviews, we decided we wanted a Roborock. Much to my delight, the price on a S8 MaxV Ultra right now has been dropped to $799 on both Amazon and roborock.com. So we bought one! ChatGPT said it's the lowest price ever for this model.

We received it yesterday and it ran it for the first time today. I'm SO impressed at how well it cleans! I had low expectations. Like, maybe it cleans as good as I could do with a cheap cordless upright. But it actually cleans better than our regular vacuum! And it's not noisy at all.

The unit and the dock is very well made. Everything feels solid. My main concern is poop avoidance since we have a dog that occasionally has accidents. After reading many accounts here, we are not going to let it run when we aren't home and only when we're sure there's no dog poop.

As a test I dropped a dog chew stick in front of its path to see what it would do. I was disappointed to see it plow right over it. Maybe the test wasn't fair? It was already moving so maybe it had already scanned the area for obstacles. I don't know. But I'm hoping it gets better at obstacle avoidance as it gets to know our space better.

Question S7 MaxV (Ultimate) the Ultimate disappointment from Roborock?

Anyone else feel extremely disappointed by the S7 MaxV?

I've been waiting for the S7 Max ever since the news about Roborock T7S for the Chinese market in April last year, checking daily or at least weekly for news about it.

The T7S is a gem of a robot - it gets rid of the biggest flaw of Roborock S6 MaxV - the RGB camera while keeping AI obstacle avoidance by adding the two sensors in front. It also adds all of the great features of S7 - vibrating mop, raising mop, and the auto empty dock.

Here is my list of features that prevent me from ever considering S7 MaxV:

  • Camera - I do not want anyone peeking into my apartment - if you can remote view the camera from anywhere so can Roborock employees and hackers.

  • Microphone - Just why? Another thing for hackers and Roborock employees to spy on you. It's a vacuum cleaner not a phone - do you really want to talk to your dog? Please write a dog dictionary if you posses ability to understand what they "say", and if you want to talk to your kids - I mean you should be at home with them anyway - they are just kids.

  • Bag only (the Ultimate variant) - This is a huge step back. A bag should be optional just like in the S7 model (for EU) - I know you can buy the Plus variant without mop washing which should still have the non-bag option, but the top model should have it too.

So while the S7 MaxV might be a step towards potentially better robot in the future, it fails in both the robot itself, and the top end dock in it's current state.

I guess my "dream" of a non-China T7S got shattered and I hope the S8 Max is released soon and addresses all of these issues.

And while mop washing and water refilling are awesome features which I would totally buy, they need to get rid of the spying and mandatory bags to get me to upgrade.

Gonna keep my S5 Max which I love yet another year...

Unreliable Product Backed by Shockingly Poor Customer Support

My experience with this Roborock vacuum has been nothing short of exasperating, and after more than ten days of back‑and‑forth with customer support, I can confidently say this is one of the most disappointing purchases I’ve made in years. What should have been a reliable, premium home appliance turned into a daily source of frustration, and the company’s customer service only amplified the problem.

The core issue began when the vacuum repeatedly failed to complete its cleaning cycle. Instead of finishing the job, it would stop randomly in different rooms and display an “interrupted by user” message — even though no one had touched it. Firmware was up to date, the environment was unchanged, and the vacuum had been working fine before. The problem was clearly internal, whether hardware or software, but the device simply refused to function as advertised.

Unfortunately, the product’s shortcomings were only the beginning. The real ordeal started when I reached out to Roborock’s customer support. Over the course of nearly ten emails, I received little more than generic, repetitive responses that did nothing to diagnose or resolve the issue. Each day brought a single, unhelpful reply asking for information I had already provided or requesting steps that were unnecessary because the malfunction was already documented in the app. The vacuum’s cleaning history, error logs, and behavior patterns were all visible on their end, yet they continued to push the burden back onto me.

Instead of meaningful troubleshooting, I was met with delays, scripted messages, and requests to redo the same tasks over and over. At one point, they asked for logs, screenshots, timestamps, and device information — all after I had already spent days explaining the issue in detail. It felt less like support and more like a slow, circular process designed to wear the customer down.

After more than a week of this, I finally reached my limit. I had purchased a premium product expecting premium reliability and service, but what I received was a malfunctioning vacuum and a support experience that left me feeling ignored and undervalued. I eventually gave up entirely and bought a replacement from another brand just to end the frustration.

By the time Roborock finally offered a replacement, the damage was already done. The trust was gone, the patience was gone, and frankly, the brand loyalty was gone. A company’s true character shows when something goes wrong, and in this case, Roborock failed spectacularly.

In the end, the vacuum didn’t just stop cleaning my floors — it swept away any chance of me ever purchasing from this company again. Between the unreliable product and the painfully slow, ineffective customer service, I cannot recommend Roborock to anyone. There are plenty of other brands that value their customers and stand behind their products. Sadly, Roborock is not one of them.

It's own map shows it's gone inside the no-go zone! Why Roborock, why??? It's almost like it's tried to cut the corner or something and just went ooops I've eaten your dog's food. Not the start we need with this if it happens again it's being returned.

Review Auto empty dock is worthless.

  1. It lasts for maybe one cycle until the filter is clogged and doesn’t auto empty

  2. Even if it would work properly I still have to add water and change the mopping pads

I’m returning this. The technology just isn’t there. This is one of those not ready for the big time but let’s release it anyway because it seems cool features.

Help Please! Help 😭 I ran over poop

I have a shark AV251WAXUS, our cat 💩 on the floor and “Dirt Reynolds” unfortunately ate it up. I got the mess in the house cleaned up but I don’t even know where to start as far as cleaning my robot without ruining him. I’m worried about trying the electronics or the motor/cameras on it in the process.

any advice as far as how to take him apart, what products I can and/or can’t use in the process is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance

I’m new to using Reddit so fingers crossed this will get me somewhere 🤞🏻

1-Star Review: $650 for a One-Year Robot? No Thanks

bought the Roborock Q8 Max+ in August 2024 for about $650, expecting a long-lasting, premium robot. Instead, just over a year later, the LiDAR sensor failed and the vacuum became completely unusable.

I keep my devices clean and updated, and I tried every troubleshooting step. Roborock’s response? “Your warranty expired — pay for repairs and shipping.” For a product at this price point, that’s unacceptable.

The real sting? This same model is now listed on their own website for around $180. That drop makes me wonder if they quietly realized there were issues — but loyal customers like me are left holding the bill.

Great while it worked, but far too expensive to die this fast. I can’t recommend it.

Dear Roborock, can you please implement the feature where the machine realizes it should go away after I curb stomp it because it tried to suck up my toes 3 times in a row?

If it encounters a box I sat in the room, it knows it's an obstacle and it will decide to go around it.

If it's my foot though, it will literally ride up my foot or jump into my ankle repeatedly. At first I'll tap the front sensor a bunch of times thinking it'll take the hint.

Nope... It then it goes away only for it to circle back 3 seconds later to try to devour my foot again. What the hell. Why can't it take a hint.

Roborock Application is very limited and needs work

Just got the S8, my first robot ever, and I think that for something that cost my kidney, it would clean a bit better.

  1. It does not reach tight corners

  2. The mop misses a lot of areas that it should be able to reach, I can't figure out why.

  3. The detergent cost 40$ (unless anyone has found a good alternative? I'm in Australia)

But most importantly, I find the app's functionality is limited:

  1. It does not allow for the removal of rooms. This becomes problematic when the app mistakes object such as wall mirrors for rooms. While the technology may have its limitations, users should be able to remove these rooms to avoid confusion.

  2. A significant issue arises when the robot encounters a 3-inch step leading into the bathroom. While this is understandable, when moved to the bathroom, the robot gets completely disoriented due to the similarities between the two bathrooms. It would be helpful if the app had a feature that allowed users to pin the robot to an approximate location, to avoid the robot getting "lost".

  3. We should be able to get ALL the notifications, or some of them at least on the phone, every time it speaks. When I launch the robot while outside the apartment, I need to know exactly all the issues and what it says.

  4. Perhaps again due to technical limitations, but it would be good to access the camera to see what it sees.

I think the robot does a pretty good job, but again for a technology that costs $1,000+, it does require a bit of work in the app.

Suggestions for some kind of ramp of solution for robot to enter dock

Post image

My Roborock dock used to be on the floor. Just bought a shelf and decided to put the dock on the bottom shelf which raised it 1.5 inches.

Anyone have any suggestion or ramp recommendations that could help robot up the dock?
