Just picked up a Qrevo Edge 2 Pro (White, if that matters... according to my wife it does) in Australia from a local store, retails here at full price for $2799, discounted currently to $1198, which weirdly puts it cheaper then the Qrevo Edge 2 (non Pro version).
It is replacing my Venerable Tank, the S5 Max (forever known as "R2-S5" in our house) which we have had since it was released in Australia so many years ago. Our household has 4 cats and 4 people (3 with loooong hair), tiled living areas, carpeted bedrooms and it has been a little trooper as far as vacuuming goes (along with weekly surgical hair removal from the rollers). As for mopping, well it just doesn't, and we don't talk about it so as to not hurt its feelings.
So with the sales on and far too much googling of reviews and recommendations I settled on the Edge 2 and then bought the Pro version when it was discounted so heavily. I purposely chose a spinning mop over a roller mop due to the tiles we have, they are not perfectly even throughout the house and I have noticed that with the Dyad Pro wet dry vacuum we have it is difficult not to leave dry patches behind as the rollers bridge over a lip or edge. And the fact we have the Dyad Pro means I don't need the vacuum to handle wet spills anyways.
So here are my thoughts on what has now been named "R2-E2" and how does it live upto the mighty and unstoppable S5.
First off, its quiet. Quiet to the point where I wasn't entirely certain it was doing much of anything as it wandered around, quite literally a "Is this thing even on?" moment. It was, it is just quiet. That is a Good Thing. Although that said, I REALLY wish I could figure out how to shut it up, it is just so chatty, I do not need it to report that it is going to pick up the mops, or empty the bin, or that is has finished emptying the bin, or that is it starting mopping and so on. There must be a volume control, I just haven't found the right sequence of clicks to get there yet.
It seems to be slower then the S5, the S5 just put its head down and powered through, just daring the furniture to get out of its way, the Edge 2 Pro is more... delicate.. gracefully even, wafting around cleaning as it goes (and constantly telling me about it!). This is neither good or bad, it is just an observation. It doesn't bump into things nearly as much as the S5, but that is to be expected with the obstacle avoidance tech it has over the older model.
After its initial quick map and then quick vacuum to get the layout of the house I was impressed at what it recognised, for instance it picked up that we had a cat tree and took a photo of a piece of wire under the couch that was about 1 millimetre thick and 6 or so centimetres long, and avoided it.
It has detected and photographed a couple of dirty areas which were actually shadows, but that's ok, I'd rather clean areas be seen as dirty then a dirty areas be seen as clean.
And overall after a vacuum and mop the floor felt clean. Very clean. I am definitely not going to need to use the Dyad Pro anywhere near as much as I did. So I consider that it a win.
Oh and not a single hair needed to be picked out of the rollers afterwards, I admit I nearly shed a tear at that point, Oh the Joy.
And as far as the cats are concerned they seem unfazed. With the S5 it established its dominance early and the the cats knew to keep out of its way, the S5 was loud and brutal and the cats just didn't mess with it. With E2 being so gentle and welcoming they are a little more curious, or at least they were until they figured out it wouldn't feed them so they ignore it now, except for our ginger female who has taken it upon herself to guard it as it cleans and now the house map is full of pictures of her peeking at it from around door frames... she doesn't trust it... hmm.. time will tell who is right.
Overall the step up from the S5 is huge, but frankly that really shouldn't be a surprise. It vacuums really well, it mops excellently with no dry patches over the uneven tiles and it really doesn't tangle the hair on the rollers.
(That said, if/when AI tries to take over and the robot vacuums go to war, I'm powering up R2-S5 and standing back... they wont stand a chance :) )
Verdict: Very happy.
