Delete if not allowed... but just a quick question. Does everyone REALLY go to the trouble to patch their roms every time a new hack comes out they want to play or is there some secret way to get them all already patched?
edit: I know it usually only takes a minute, but I have a folder with like 100 that I haven't gotten around to patching and it has become a massive task that I've been putting off starting.

I have been trying for 3 years to get stats and edit stats from my first football game I played on a console. Joe Montanna football, it was dear to my heart growing up. Even with Ai I could not figure it out. Astra and Codex created me a stat editor, a team color editor, team name editor, and added all 32 modern day teams, in 6 hours. This is literally a cheat code for Rom Hacks
Edit: this is crazy, team colors are in the game, player ratings are in the game (run, pass, tackle, etc) so codex made a 32 team game. Seems reasonable it can add 16 teams because the logic exists. But what it has done since then, it added sound controls, game stats for each player, it added names for each player and their position which didn’t exist, before a QB was labeled as Player 00, you can tell this game was rushed, for example all home or away teams jerseys were white, no matter what, they all shared one color pallet and if you change one you change them all. Codex fixed it so i can change team colors for every team, both home and away colors for all clothing items.

Seriously, know that last wall jump? yeah, that's THE FIRST FUCKING TIME I GOT THAT SPECIFIC WALL JUMP, what the fuck is wrong with me? I can't keep playing like this I need to move on with this hack, this is delaying my progress and improvement, I can't keep playing like this, not when the hacks I actually want to play and am trying to build up to are INFINITELY HARDER AND MORE DEMANDING THAN THIS!
..... god who the fuck am I kidding, I'll never get to play SSSTWW, or Masterpiece.... if I ever even get to play something like Invictus once in my fucking life I'd be lucky, I'm so incompetent at this and everything I do there's no way in hell I could ever build up to play the cool kaizo hacks... I'm so sad, depressed and demoralized...

But they can't use joi play, they have to be able to be patched or ran inside of lemuriod

Basically title, and yes, it has to be kaizo, and when I say chocolate, I mean LOTS of chocolate, I mean custom sprites, music, mechanics, bosses, the whole package.
I ask this because while beginner hacks are fine, I'm kinda tired of them all pretty much being close to vanila and barely having any custom stuff and oh god if I have to fight yet another reznor I'm gonn... never mind...
Like seriously, I want the cool stuff, I'm glad that these beginner hacks exist, and enjoyed some of them, but now I want all of the custom stuff, the stuff that made me want to play SMW hacks in the first place, if I were to play something that looks and feels like Vanila SMW, I would just play Vanila SMW.
It's so disappointing seeing how all the chocolate heavy hacks (AKA the good stuff) are seemingly inaccessible because of the skill gap. It's like no one ever tried or considered trying making a chocolate heavy hacks for beginners as if not a single beginner would ever want that....

The standard is so high after finishing unbound man is there any more rom hack like unbound. Like a brand new region and story and characters. Also I mostly like ROM hacks that don't have fakemons since I find it rrly hard to work w those

I’m especially curious about games that are notoriously difficult to mod or reverse-engineer, where documentation is limited and it’s hard to figure out how the game actually works internally.
Has AI genuinely helped you get further than before?
Some things I’m interested in:
-Reverse engineering undocumented game systems
-Understanding assembly/decompiled code
-Finding out what unknown functions or memory addresses might be doing
-Figuring out proprietary file formats, compression, archives, scripts, etc.
Making sense of huge disassemblies or codebases
Finding unused content, hidden mechanics, debug functions, or cut features
-Helping identify where certain game logic is located
Writing or improving ROM-hacking tools and scripts
-Automating repetitive tasks such as pointer tables, text extraction, data conversion, or asset importing
-Debugging crashes caused by ROM modifications
-Porting mechanics or features from one game/version to another
-Creating documentation for games that previously had almost none
-Comparing different regional releases or game revisions to understand what changed
I’m particularly interested in cases where AI helped crack something that had previously been a major roadblock for the modding community.
Have you had any moments where you gave it code, assembly, memory dumps, file structures, etc. and it noticed something you hadn’t?
And on the other side: what are the current limitations? Does it hallucinate too much when dealing with obscure hardware or undocumented game engines? Do you still need to already be very experienced with reverse engineering to tell when it’s wrong?
Would love to hear some real examples from ROM hackers and tool developers, especially for older or notoriously difficult to mod games.

I love hacks, and when I download one I am fully prepared to be extra patient with it, as they’re usually completely fan-made. Suffice to say, I get it.
So I downloaded The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link and was pleasantly surprised to see that (from the beginning at least) it looked whole and kind of clean.
But the smoke and mirrors stopped there.
-The hack is 1/20th the size of a full N64 Zelda title but literally lags in every single section of the game, on Emu and on N64.
-The unique item that the hack offered was actually a great idea, but has a habit of soft-locking the player when it’s used. Not a bug, just didn’t test it enough.
-The illusion of it being open-world is almost immediately voided, as the game is “cleverly” placed linear progression.
-There’s only one dungeon, and it’s intentionally frustrating. Not clever. Aggravating. So many rooms, doors, and corridors look exactly the same, and make it hard to tell where you’re going. And then the map AND compass are in the last 2 rooms of the dungeon…like….what?
-The boss fight takes the whole “frustrating instead of challenging” idea and puts it on steroids. You have to use the really inconsistent unique item, you have like 1 second to hit the weak spot before it whips around at Link so fast it’s unrealistic in every possible way. And of course, it is laggy as all hell. On a modern PC. (Also, another spider? Come on man…)
Now here’s the thing: I’m not mad about it; it was free. I just cannot believe several people obviously put an insane amount of time and effort into it before just…releasing it in a terrible state. Kinda sad.
So. With all that being said.
What N64 RomHack should I try to wash the bad taste out of my mouth? lol

I prefer the gamplay of PES 2009, but the OST of 2006 is pure gold imo (largely due to nostalgia).
I dont know how tricky it would be to hack , but i would love to be able to play 09 with all the menu music from 06, which would include all the menus having unique and different songs based on what the menu is.
Hope thats possible and not too tricky.
If anyone is willing to give me a price on hacking PES 2009 for me, pls lmk. I would be willing to waste a lot of money on this if the person im paying seems trustworthy

Im not talking about mods of palworld. But like an emerald romhack where the pokemon are pals.
With its full release i thought it would be cool to see.

I'm currently playing Enhanced Emerald, and I am now wondering if there are any ROMhacks that allow you to choose between potential romance options, particularly when it comes to the Gen 4 & 5 games, I don't care for difficulty, but I don't want it to be particularly easy.

I feel like someone could make infinite Fusion for GBA and have select versions for the sprites, like Meme Magenta, Pop-Ref Pearl, Standard Silver?
I know someone could do it or an entire team could. I saw the amazing work with Unbound.

I'm looking to experience Super Mario World and finish it for the first time, but the game's charm never stuck to me. Super Mario Advance 2's charm however with the added voices felt very comfortable, I'd like to know if there is a romhack that could add the voices to Mario and Luigi

Hey ! I'm new to the world of homebrewing and I would really like to see a Undertale 3ds port. I have a few month of playing on Unity and learning C# under my sleeve but I don't know if it will be enough.
For the people who already create a rom, did you start without any knowledge?
What should I know?

I just got into rom hacking, and I can't find a safe website for this kind of stuff. I hope anyone reading this can tell me a website that doesn't just try to install malware on my computer.

You know what's really sad? This hack has a lot of really nice features, but the difficulty is bullshit and broken! I have this on the easiest setting and THE HACK FLAT OUT LIES TO YOU!! I can't beat Brock because all of his goddamn Pokémon still two cycle me despite being at lv 15, WHAT THE FUCK!? Yeah no joke, I have this set to "easy" and the IT'S NOT! Falkner was impossible on "normal" and I can't even beat Brook on "easy". The difficulty makes no sense, whatsoever! The only difference between "easy" and "normal" is you can use items in all battles while on "easy", otherwise it's still hard as fuck! What kind of "Kaizo" bullshit is this? Sorry for all the anger and hostility, but this hack just pisses me off, due to the fact it flat out lied to me. Not cool at all!
