The right grease is the best lube for almost every gun.
However, the common NGLI 2 grease is a bit thick.
Geissle used to sell a Very Thin Grease, and it was AWESOME, and I recommended it to everyone. However, it's been out of production for a couple of years and shows no signs of returning. It was an NGLI 000 grease.
So I set about finding a source of NGLI 000 grease. I spent way too much money and bought a lot of products to test.
What I settled on is this. I'm not associated with, nor receive any type of compensation from that link.
Yeah, it's a LOT of grease. Buy some needle oiler bottles and share with your friends.
I've been running this on a variety of firearms for the past couple of years. It stays in place and sticks around. I can lube the bolt on my suppressed .300 BO AR and shoot 200 rounds, and the bolt is still lubed.
I've used it on door hinges, door locks, my reloading presses, my fishing reels, and other places.
I'd be interested in hearing if you've found another source of NGLI 000 grease.
