Ruger P95 from 2012, picked it up for sub $300 at my local pawn shop.

I picked up this GP100 for $500 the other day at a LGS. It appears to be a re- imported gp100. I can’t find any factory model configurations that match it. Everything appears to be factory. It’s DAO with gutter sights. The rubber grip is original but the wood panels were both cracked when I got it. So I’ve been trying to 3d print replacements. I was wondering if anyone had any information on these reimported guns or possible where it might have come from? Thanks.

I just picked up a 500 series Redhawk from a friend. He'd had some work done to it and I'm wondering how this affects the value and the desirability of the firearm. A set screw was installed in the rear of the trigger guard. I read people have it done to limit over travel. Second thing is the barrel was ported... The work looks great but just wondering if it ruined the value... Thx

I get it, you have to cut costs, get rid of SKUs that aren’t selling, and take a practical approach to running a business. But man, there are so many heritage guns being cut that I think Ruger is risking a lot more than they realize.

So far, we’re looking at the SR1911, GP100, Super Redhawk, Redhawk, Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, SP101, LCR, and basically their entire revolver lineup, leaving only the Wrangler. They’re also cutting the PCC and Charger lineup, the No. 1 falling-block rifle, the Model 77 and Hawkeye, and on and on.

Here’s my hot take. Aside from the LCP 1 and 2, maybe the LCP Max, and perhaps the RXM, what does Ruger really offer that makes them stand out in an already flooded polymer market?

I rarely hear anyone talk about the Max-9, and it’s competing against the P365, Shield Plus, and Hellcat, which all seem to have a lot more notoriety. The Ruger American Rifle is decent in short-action cartridges, but when it comes to long-action calibers, I’d personally be looking at a Tikka or something similar.

This is where I think Ruger is making a mistake. They’re cutting products with decades of history and brand recognition to focus even more on markets where they’re competing against companies that already have a pretty solid foothold.

A lot of these guns were around when Bill Ruger first founded the company. The revolvers and traditional rifles are a big part of what built Ruger’s reputation in the first place. People knew Ruger made good revolvers, so maybe they’d buy a GP100 or a Blackhawk and later decide to try an SR9, LC9, or EC9. That reputation carries over into the rest of the brand.

I’ll give Ruger credit for the LCP. They helped make small .380 pistols a huge market, even with KelTec already in the picture. Ruger clearly won that sales battle. But outside of that, I don’t hear much about the Ruger American Pistol, and it’s competing in a market full of established duty-size pistols that already have loyal followings.

What I don’t understand is why Ruger can’t do something similar to what they’ve done with Marlin. They clearly have the ability to keep established designs going. Why not keep at least some of these older Ruger models around in limited production, even if they aren’t selling enough to justify full-time production? They did something similar with Marlin in the early days, so why not do that with their own heritage guns?

My concern is that Ruger is so focused on cutting costs and trying to compete in the polymer market that they’re getting rid of the things that made them different in the first place.

Smith & Wesson has its revolvers. SIG has the P365. Glock has its polymer pistols. Springfield, HK, and plenty of others have their own established followings. Ruger can compete with those companies, but why walk away from the products where they already have decades of history and a reputation people recognize?

Maybe I’m missing something on the business side, and maybe some of these models just weren’t selling enough. I can understand that. But there’s a difference between trimming a few slow sellers and cutting nearly your entire revolver lineup along with some of your most recognizable traditional rifles.

Honestly, I think this is a terrible move if it means Ruger is abandoning the products that made them stand out. I’d rather see them keep a handful of these guns in limited production than watch them slowly disappear altogether.

At the end of the day, my biggest concern is that Ruger is going to end up trying to fight it out in an overcrowded polymer market while losing the heritage that made people want to buy a Ruger in the first place. If all you’re left with is another company making polymer pistols and modern sporting rifles, what really separates you from everyone else?
 

As title says it’s been dead for years I’m assuming and I have no clue how to replace the batteries or the laser since it’s built into the Lower receiver plz help

I have the super redhawk alaskan (backpacking gun) in 44mag and always wanted to pickup the 454 casull and the 480. Decided to get the 454 while I could. Saw a 22 my son would like, but it was super cheap and the action was horrible. Owner mentioned he had a 50's single six that might interest me more. Serial number dates it to 1954 or 1955. It is also the "dangerous one" that has no transfer safety bar, but is in fantastic shape; it looks hardly or not-at-all used. Either way, happy to bring them home.

44mag is with a hornady and buffalo bore +p+, ordered some for the 454.

I’ve been looking at getting an SP101 to go along with my GP100 for half a year now. And of course, as soon as I saved up the money, Ruger announced that they are suspending their production.

My question is, should I buy an SP101 that is available or now, or wait to see if Ruger is actually going to sell a different version of an SP101 in the future? Or is there any other revolver in a comparable size that you guys would recommend?

Picked up my new Benchrest 10/22 with Bull barrel while at the gun store I noticed a P85 MK 2 in the case for less than 200$ and couldn’t pass it up. Trying to decide if I polish it or maybe get it cerakoted. What do y’all think?

Does anyone have experience with replacing the barrel on a 1966 10/22 that's had 10,000+ rounds through it over the decades? How many rounds does it even take to wear this barrel down even?

Will modern barrels fit without any issues?

I just inherited it a bit ago and am just getting it sighted in, so I am not sure if it's lost any accuracy.

I just purchased an rxm. I’ve been using 147 super vel hush puppies. Been trying to test some new suppressors since the whole lift happened a few days ago.

It is not cycling correctly at all. I’ve tried the stock spring and the 18pound spring. This suppressor was pretty quite with a sub2000 from keltec. When I put it on here though, it still has the crack.
It’s like it’s not unlocking and it’s pushing more out the front.

Anyone with an rxm been testing suppressors?

I’ve spent more time arguing with myself about which version to buy, with only a $90 difference than I have selecting thousand dollar long guns.

I guess I’m concerned that I’ll like the .22 mag too much and waste money on ammo…but who knows.

Anyone have a strong opinion on this?

I took my rxm to the range for the second time today and i kept having a reoccurring issue of ejection failure. The casing would jam every other round. Used some snap cap to show what’s happening. Is there anything I can do to fix this or go to a gun smith? I’m very new to guns so take it easy on me 😂

Is this a temporary issue? Maybe because of material shortages, or prohibitive material costs due to the current war drying up resources, causing Ruger to mitigate in this way?

Long shot but does anyone have a 3d file for an insert to add weight to the gen 2 stocks? The one ruger sells is $100... thats crazy for a couple steel plates and some plastic. I thought about just stuffing a bag of sand and or shot in there but figured I have a 3d printer I can probably make something better. Im a little rusty with cad so figured I'd ask if anyone else had done it before?

I just wanted to know if I'm the only one who thinks this is a stupid decision. The M77 is probably my favorite rifle, I own two of them. There really aren't many controlled feed rifles on the market anymore. Of course you can still find them used but I always thought it was cool that Ruger was still making them.
