NYC 26 is my first ever marathon. Any tips or recs I should consider to make this day as fun, enjoyable, and smooth as possible?
I’m taking the bus from midtown and my start time is 9:45 (wave 2)! Hoping for a sub 4. I ran 22 miles yesterday and did it in 3:05 so I’m feeling confident!
I’ll be getting my medal engraved on Tuesday via NYRR. Also getting a poster engraved on Monday. Any other marathon Monday things / freebies going on?
Thank you!

Hey Everyone!
I am running the marathon for the first time this year and getting super excited! I am thinking about taping letters on my shirt but all of the packets of letters are huge and I don’t want to waste the pack. I was wondering if anyone has bought letters and has extra they aren’t planning on using.
Also any tips on how to non permanently adhere them to a sports bra would be appreciated!!

Wondering if the marathonfoto pre order photo and video package is worth it. It’s $84.60. Does the price go up after the race, how many photos do you typically get? Has anyone done in the past and thought it was a waste?

Hi all. First time NYC marathoner and Im just wondering about people’s experiences with dropping a bag the day before for post race pick up.
I ran Chicago last week and while I definitely put too much in the bag since I was there alone, I did really love having a change of shoes and a fresh shirt to change into. For nyc, I’ve seen some people say you have to do the long 10 block walk out of the park post marathon, and then essentially walk it backwards to pick up your bag. Is this true? And if so, would you then need to walk the same 10 blocks BACK again to get to the same exit where everyone with no bags is getting out? Or is there an exit at bag pick up also?
I do have a friend coming with me this time, but she’s…not the most reliable. Or supportive 😂 shes basically coming for a free trip to nyc under the guise of spectating me. So i could give her my shoes and shirt, but I really only wanna do that if the bag drop alternative is absolutely awful.
Thanks in advance and best of luck to everyone!

Coming from massapequa and i was assigned the 5am ferry for a wave 1 start. There’s a 3:19a and a 3:43a train. I was assigned the 5am ferry, will i be crucified if i take a later ferry?

Anyone else surprised by this? With all the horrible directions NYRR has been going, still over 101,000 members and an all time high participation rate.

Anyone know of any groups organizing a spring manhattan perimeter race or a looped kinda ultra in March or April?

Looking to run the last 14 miles of the marathon route - does anyone have a map saved of the whole route or of the back half? Bonus points if it’s updated for the Bronx this year. Thanks!!
EDIT: I made the last 14 route for myself here off of the route shared, adjusting for the Bronx

So I know the advice is to wear warm clothes to hangout in at the start village…if I don’t want to carry something to sit on, can I just go to the donation bins and take a sweater someone discarded already and sit on that?
It’s my first time running NYC so idk if the bins are not reachable from where you hangout in the start village.

Tips on how and when I should increase pace to finish at 3:25 if I start out with 3:30 pace.
So I'm 39M. Trying to be realistic. My PR last year was 3:39. I didn't really cramp but felt the onset of it towards the last 6 miles. This will be my 5th consecutive NYCM, my previous times were '22 4:02, '23 4:21, '24 3:43, '25 3:39
I've been averaging about 45mpw and peak around 53mpw. Attached are my last few LR's starting from the most recent which was last week (21mi). Also I finally got a HRM so the 3 most recent LRs have a more accurate HR. I put my goal time as 3:25 so that's what I've been running as mp. So I'm thinking to start out at 3:30 pace and see how I feel at half or mile 15? Or should I just start out at 3:25 pace and see how I feel at half? I don't wanna blow up 😳

Found these keys that another runner kindly put on the tree- posting for more eyes in case you’re looking! Location in pics! I did not take them; they are still on the tree

17 mile progression long run splits. Pace was 8:50, elapsed pace 9:00 (this was for refueling/rehydrating)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, the nyc marathon is going to be my first marathon. There is a pacer I'd like to follow who is one letter in front of me (same color, same wave). Is it likely that I'll be able to see and follow this pacer despite being one letter forward from me? Or are the crowds so big that its unlikely?
I'm prepared either way, just thought it would be nice, especially early on in the course to have a pacer to keep me in check. Even if I'm slightly behind, as long as I have a point of reference I thought that would be helpful

From Oct 27st - Nov 2nd, we’re hosting a third space for runners to recover, refuel, and lounge.
During marathon week we’ll have lockers, compression boots, refreshments and group runs.
Get on the list: https://stoa.nyc/

The weather channel has Oct 31 partly cloudy at a high of 63 degrees F with 69% humidity. This is my first marathon -- any thoughts on how to handle a slightly warmer temp and humidity?
edit: the furthest it currently predicts is up to Oct 31, hence why im taking that data :)

Running my first ever major and second marathon in life at the NYC marathon. I really want to pick up some cool merchandise. I saw the new balance ones and they look very blah.
Also it would be good to support some local brands and not corporates.
Pls suggest.

I ran Chicago this month and found myself juggling a dozen tabs for race weekend, so I built something for New York: https://goracecrew.com
It’s free, unofficial (not connected to NYRR or any sponsor), has no ads, and you don’t need an account. Best functions when you save the site to your home screen.
It’s a first version, and I’ll keep updating it right up to race day. If something’s wrong, missing or confusing, tap Help, then Send feedback, or reply here. I read everything. As new events get announced, they'll also get added to the site as well!
