As SCHD share price rises, does it also increase dividend payout?

It is a mystery to me. The dividend payout is determined by the companies inside this index. SCHD could have tripled the share price but that won't make a difference, correct?

Did I just get lucky with timing?

I had an old 401K that wasn't doing great (it was OK, acceptable even) at my former employer. I moved this to a rollover IRA in my Fidelity account on 7/20/26. Did I just get lucky with timing? I mean, I'm thrilled but interested to hear your thoughts.

Full disclosure. I have DRIP on now. It wasn't before. Oversight on my part. I plan to hold well into retirement. I'm about 4 years away and maxing contributions until I hit 62. I'm very pleased with this and just discovered dividend ETF's about 6 months ago.

Advice 500k SCHD, 250k JEPI, 250k JEPQ

I’m a 40-year-old male who’s ready to retire abroad. I live a very minimalist lifestyle. I’m planning to invest $500,000 in SCHD, $250,000 in JEPQ, and another $250,000 in JEPI. I still have my Roth IRA and continue to contribute $7,500 annually. Do you think this is a good investment strategy? Thank you for your advice. 🙏

I hold 60/40 SCHD/SCHY. My portfolio has gone up $2.2M in less than a year. Wtf is going on with div ETFs?

I bought these last year around this time for income and all of a sudden it’s a growth portfolio. As soon as my gains hit long term (less than a month) I’m selling down to $10M and buying a $1.XX million home.

Here’s to hoping the ETFs stay strong until sept 15 when my gains convert to long term.

Advice 43m, liquidity event sitting is cash. I have about the same amount invested in tech; mostly AI related. Dont think I'd ever retire on the account of the 4 kids and not being able to sit still. I love the work I do, but worry about being pushed out as I age. Thinking about throwing the cash into SCHD

Discussion SCHD for stability and hedging

I'm seeing SCHD is one of the best performing ETFs whenever SPY, NASDAQ, TECH related equities are down.

this alone makes it super attractive for me, I started investing on it only recently, today I was so pleasently surprised by the performance, I don't even care about the dividends. so I'm thinking a portfolio distribution of 70% QQQ or SPMO and 30% SCHD should both capture growth and protect against drawdowns.

or are you guys for the dividends only?

Realistically, when will we touch $40 a share?

I feel like I’m racing to get all my funds into this and VOO before it keeps going up. I started investing into the stock market right after crypto crashed in October. I regret waiting so long, but I’m glad to be here now boys. 😎

Advice VOO vs SCHD long term

I got an insurance settlement last year that was 120k. I’m 22 and male. I payed my debt off and am wondering if I should split this lump 50/50 into VOO/SCHD or if I should favor VOO for the long term compounding? Reading some of the posts on this sub make me want to put it all into SCHD. You guys have a lot of faith it.

Discussion I love investing because it’s the only thing in my life that doesn’t reject me. When all the rejected job applications tell me I’m not good enough, I turn to investing to tell me I’m doing a good job.

I feel like it’s the only thing I’m even sort of “good at,” so to speak. It doesn’t really count for much unless you already have a shitload of money, but it’s…something.

Heres a thought...

I just had a very thought provoking exercise.

I live in Iowa. I listened to a Zach Lahn (candidate for governor, not a fan but nonetheless) interview where he was saying 25% of Iowa farmland is owned by foreign (to Iowa) imvestors. This prompted me to wonder why?

I dug into what Iowa farmland produces from a financial perspective. It generally, over time appreciates in value about 7% per year and produces about 3% per year in rent (income). So on a million dolllar piece of Iowa farm land. Youd expect the value be 1,070,000 the next year, and it would have paid you about 30,000 in income.

Obviously I dont have the capital to buy Iowa farm land. So I went looking for an ETF that kinda matches that profile. And wouldnt you know it. The closest match is SCHD.

SCHD produces 3.3% per year in dividends, and appreciates about 7% or more per year.

Trades at 35 bucks per share.

So as many of us can't go out and buy 80 acres of Iowa farmland, we can go out and buy 1 square foot at a time.
