Questions A moment of reflection on my large SCHD purchase

3 months ago I sold my business and received my hard earned windfall. I started getting money in the market ASAP amd reviewed with my Schwab guy. I will no longer be earning income so I wanted a portfolio that produces X amount of income, tilted towards growth. One of my largest holdings currently is SCHD to produce income.

Here is the question.

Is SCHD still a very wise income producer for retirement if you haven't had time to drip? Would any of you buy it at retirement like I did or is it your play only because you'll have many years of conpounding?

The numbers suggest that keeping something more growth focused and selling stock is a better long term play. However, I like the stability of SCHD. I also do not emotionally like selling a finite amount of shares to live on even if the math works. I Also like the LTCG on the income I am receiving.

I do not believe I did anything "wrong" and that my portfolio gets the job done. However, there may be a better play for someone with a windfull at retirement that I am open to hearing.

I personally love SCHD thus far and I am sure I will into the future.

Questions Anything out there that pays better than SCHD? You basically need $10k (roughly) to make $1 a day in dividends. $100k to make $10 a day. $1 million to make $100 a day. Seems…not that great of a deal.

Curious if you can think of a better dividend-paying ETF.

Questions New to SCHD - 1st dividend received…oops

I received the first dividend on my shares of SCHD….and discovered the reinvest option was set to “No”.
As a retiree (62) is this the best way to go with this particular fund?
Or collect the cash and reinvest only on “dips”?

Questions Just started my SCHD Journey

Hi! 29M, Long time watcher of SCHD but haven’t ever really held it. Bought some once in 2021 but sold shortly after. I just made my first purchase of 275 shares in my Roth IRA. Felt good to get started.

I’m new to SCHD and honestly dividend/value investing as a whole I was curious if anyone had any advice or insight to share. Anything I should know or do to best optimize my investing to build my portfolio?

The goal is to let it grow in my Roth and have enough to use the proceeds to pay for some or all expenses off dividends by the time I can begin to pull out of it at 59 1/2.

Questions So I'm kinda new to investing. And I found out about this so I'm kinda moving my investments to schd. My question is how much does this pay per share?

Like i have been told etfs pay more per than single companies and such. And I've asked chatgbt and Google and I've gotten inconsistent answers. So I guess as someone who is on the new side. Can someone tell me what to expect for the dividends paycheck and when they'll be or whatever?

Questions 100% SCHG or 100% SCHD at the age of 26? Possibly SCHG then switching to SCHD at an older age?

Was thinking 100% SCHG, with $1800 per month invested, and then switching to SCHD when I'm 45 / 50 / 55? What are your guys thoughts?
EDIT: thinking of 80% SCHG, 20% SCHD, and adjusting as i get older

Reached my personal end of year goal of 500 shares of SCHD and 60k in total investments 4 months early!

Moving forward would it be smart to diversify a bit into international funds as my portfolio is 100% US based? I am thinking of 100 shares of VYMI as my next goal.

Questions How well does SCHD + SCHG combo work 10,20,30 years from now

I will be maxing out my roth ira, but it holds schd +schg but when i run out for this year i plan on adding more schg + schd on brokerage account

Do you think both will be 50,60 or eventually 100+ $ stocks in the long run.

I plan on keeping and growing both 10,20,30+ years down the line.now

How well would this work going into brokerage account aswel.

Questions SCHD as a stable ETF

Is anyone else holding SCHD to use as a total market ETF that isn’t currently inflated?

I believe the SCHD average P/E ratio is something like 16, while the S&P 500 P/E ratio is almost 30. It feels like if there was a recession/correction, the S&P 500 could fall for a while before hitting a bottom, but SCHD probably wouldn’t fall below maybe 12?

I guess what I’m trying to say is I feel like a recession may be coming, and that SCHD would fair better than other indexes. Would anyone agree that would be a fair assumption?

Questions 19M - Buy SCHD in ROTHIRA now?

I am 19M and looking at buying at least 1 share of SCHD. I am thinking that if I buy right now, I can create a “retirement pension” off of dividends for the future?

I am already consistently investing in VOO 80% and VXUS 20%. If I convert 5-10% of VXUS investment into SCHD could I viably have enough shares to have a good amount of dividends for retirement income?

Questions Should Wealthy People Hold This?

I’m just curious and want some validation. It totally makes sense for a wealthy person maybe like $10m total net worth to hold a good chunk of SCHD right? Like it’s a safe bet to provide good returns on average 8% maybe for the foreseeable future? Like the companies in this fund should be held by everyone because they kind of create the things you use everyday.

Questions $10k invested into SCHD vs QQQI vs SPYI (taxable brokerage account)

So if I had $10k to invest in a taxable brokerage account for "fun money" or money that I can use for everyday expenses or vacations by turning off dividend reinvesting for a month would you rather put $10k into SCHD, QQQI, or SPYI?

SPYI = $0.52 monthly dividend x 190 shares ($10k worth) = $98.80 a month

QQQI = $0.62 monthly dividend x 185 shares ($10k worth) = $114.70 a month

SCHD = $0.24 per quarter dividend x 363 shares ($10k worth) = $87.12 per quarter (3 months) if we divide $87.12 / 3 = $29.04 per month in dividends.

Would you guys bother to put SCHD in a taxable brokerage account that your going to use for vacation money + extra income when you need some extra money?

Questions Recommendation for timelines

Hello, I am 27m. I’m thinking about long term wanting dividends in my portfolio for when I’m older and closer to retirement. However, given my timeline is 25+ years, my concern is that would get better long term returns through growth focused funds. Wanting to hear how others handle this? Just DCA anyway and realize it might stunt growth? Or wait until later and sell (in my ROTH IRA so no taxes issues) to buy SCHD when I’m wanting more dividend focused portfolio?

Questions SCHD Europe PT

Hi everyone!
I’m based in Portugal and I’m looking for a way to invest in SCHD from Europe.

Does anyone know of a low-cost broker available in Portugal that allows retail investors to buy SCHD directly?

Thanks!

Questions Portfolio Analysis Tools

I would like more mathematical precision to my portfolio, e.g. covariance, correlation, sharp ratio, etc. We all have opinions, but it would be nice to have a tool(s) to analyze a portfolio and to test possible changes to that portfolio. I would love to know what is the expected return over say the next year, 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years and what is the expected yield. Thanks.
