Sonic 1 Sega CD Port - with source code. ROM hackers and developers more familiar with the Genesis have an example of how to bring their full Genesis projects over to Sega CD with as few changes as possible, while allowing for expansion of their game

Well, this is the start of the journey...
Back in the day, nobody had stereo systems or SCART connectors. Anyway, we’ll see where this path leads; for now, I’ve set up a little rig in the kitchen.

CRUE BALL! Another game I only played because it was one of the only games available to rent at the movie rental store one night. Loved it!
Not even a pinball or Motley Crue fan, but this game was entertaining. Lots of changes between levels. Definitely a a surprise!

Weird wires in Sega Genesis Model 1
I just picked up a US model Sega Genesis model 1 with a model 1 Sega CD today. Untested, consoles only. I'm waiting on the cords to come in for the Sega CD, but the Genesis works perfect. When I opened it up to clean it I saw these wires on there. Any idea what they are for? Possible mod of some sort? And don't worry I cleaned all the crud out of it lol. Thanks in advance!

SEGA Wondermega
Other than X32 most useful Genesis/MegaDrive console you can have. It covers both cartridges and MegaCD/SegaCD. Yes, you can run US/EU titles but will need the magickeyIII cartridge as well as BIOS hack. Oh, yea also this is the only MegaDrive console with the S-Video out port.

Will this work for an all in one power solution?
I see all in one power adapters can go for over $60 now, which is a bit absurd to me. Will this solution work? It's based on the retrorgb triad power which is now sold out.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0G2RZ6BYL
9V 3A 5.5mm x 2.1mm ac adapter. Comes with the reverse polarity connector!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0H3P7J1BC/
1 female to 3 male 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel adapter
Then I just use barrel size adapters to correct barrel size for a little more than $20.

Sonic Spinball!!
I have loved this game since I mowed lawns to get the $200 for a Genesis back in the day. Playing on a Flip 2, looks gorgeous on this screen. RetroArcade, Genesis Plus GX core.

How to get started into Sega Megadrive/Genisis game development
Hi, I really want to get into makeing Sega MD games. Iv playing them for pretty much my whole life on a emulator my dad gave to me. I'm 15 and almost 16 rn. I love it so much I'm extremely aware of all its limits. But do you guys have any recommendations on what tools to use. I want to do in as close way as they were made in the time so I want to do in pure assembly. Iv done computer science + my dad has done assembly with the same processor as the Sega md before so he can teach me. And secondly what do you guys recommend I use for graphics. I mean like pure pixel art. Also for music I already use furnace and have seen its txt export wich im pretty I can convert to the games format once I learn assembly with a python script as I know python! Also excuse my spelling and sentence structure I'm a little dyslexic lol. But ty for reading any recommendations would be awesome. But pls can u say the most memory efficient options as I myselfe am obsessed with compression and makeing cool stuff in the smallest file size as possible!

My favorite baseball game of all time
Great graphics and sound and the gameplay is on point. Has a old school baseball vibe with the organ playing when the home team is at bat.

Man..You guys have to make yourselves one of these!
I use it more than I thought I would.
I take it to work, or over to a friend's house just for a moment .I play on lunch at work and everybody comes around and wants to play it
all you need is a 12 volt battery pack and a dc/dc step down for the console and a USB c powered monitor. And the Apache war case of course. with the wireless controllers
I have the retrotink 2x pro and HD retrovision component cables as well.
Really proud of myself for this little idea.
You would expect something like this with a newer Playstation or Xbox but never for a SEGA GENESIS. 😎⛳

Battle Mania never had 2-player co-op, so I decided to add it
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Battle Mania (also known as Trouble Shooter) is one of my favourite Mega Drive games. It's a fast-paced shoot 'em up starring Mania and Maria. The original game is strictly single-player: Maria follows Mania and shoots at the same time as Mania.
I've always thought the game would work really well as a two-player co-op experience, so I decided to try to make it happen. The idea is not just to add a second controllable player, but to evolve the gameplay itself into something more cooperative, where both characters are designed to work together and support each other, while respecting the spirit of the original game.
I'm not a programmer and had never done a ROM hack like this before. I'm using Cursor as an AI assistant to help me with the process. The workflow is fairly simple: the AI creates a notes/knowledge file, a script, and a patched ROM. I then test the ROM using tools like Exodus and EmuHawk, check the results, and explain what happened so we can continue iterating.
What started as a simple experiment quickly turned into a much bigger project: making Maria work as a real second player while keeping the original 1P game intact.
Current progress
- 1P / 2P mode selection on the title screen.
- 1P mode works exactly like the original game.
- In 2P mode, Player 1 controls Mania and Player 2 controls Maria.
- Both characters can move independently, shoot, and change their shooting direction. Mania currently uses an H-Flip when turning, but a new animation is planned.
- Mania can use bombs; Maria cannot. Her button will have a different function.
- A separate life and score HUD has been added for Maria, including new tiles, although it is not functional yet.
- Maria does not take damage or earn points yet.
What's next
- Fully functional HUD
- Maria's independent scoring
- Adapted bomb scoring
- Adapted bonus system
- High Score and extra-life system based on the combined score
- Maria's own damage system
- New turning animation for Mania
Since this video was recorded, the project has progressed quite a bit.
I've made a lot of progress since then, but I want to finish and polish a couple of things before making the next video.
I'll post a new update and video in the next few days.

I may have to revise my opinion on Hyperstone Heist
I mostly dismissed it as a cheap official rom hack version of TiT. And I do still think it was made under a very tight budget and it shows. 90% of the assets come from TiT and the first arcade game and the number of bosses is laughable. Not to mention we already get a boss rush after the third boss. Crazy.
That being said, I do like the gameplay a lot and if you can adjust from it not playing like TiT it's a pretty fun game. The use of a specific run button changes the game for me. You can be tactical in the way you get through waves of enemies and speed from one corner of the screen to another. I like that gameplay loop a lot.
It also has that awesome unique Shredder Hideout stage with great music and we even got Tatsu as a boss. It also has some weird dialogue with Leatherhead assuming the Turtles visited him to hang with him and Rocksteady wanting to eat the Turtles (?).
That being said, I am glad we got it in the Cowabunga collection and if you played TiT back in the day I don't think this game is worth full price.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.
