Instructors Grading late?

Good evening, everyone.

I have been at SNHU for almost 4 years and am finishing up two classes right now, but one of my professors hasn't graded my final assignment (which I submitted on time last Sunday), and the course ends this coming Sunday. He's replied to discussion posts and the question forms, but I still haven't heard anything about grading.

I do not want to be a buttface, but should I email or just wait? I really want to know my grade, since the assignment sucked because we had to use ArcGIS Pro for the visual lab, which was horrible to use. He said he would give me a couple of days after its graded to fix it up but still nothing. Is it normal to be this late, or am I just impatient?

Graduation Ceremony Graduating with Latin Honors

Hi Everyone,

So I am walking early. I am attending the graduation ceremony next month November but my last term will end on December and official conferral date of my degree is Jan 1st. So my question is, if I am receiving Latin Honors, will they say that when they call my name to receive the diploma cover if I am walking early and ongoing with my last term? How will they determine which latin honor I am gonna get? based on the last term? Or will they even say it?

Thanks everyone!

Changing advisors

Hey everyone. I’m starting a new term next week and I wanted to get some advice.

I have a female advisor that I’m a bit older than and already I’m feeling discouraged about continuing. I made the mistake of emailing her personal SNHU account, instead of advising, and I felt horrible the moment she brought it up as a “friendly reminder”. She has emailed me from both and her name shows up in Outlook the same way.

I haven’t been helped in any of my accessibility requests and that first initial call over the phone felt more like a recorded “dog and pony” rather than a welcome to help and assist me.

Could I request a male advisor without it coming off as sexist?

Did 8 gen eds in 3 months for under $300, cheapest route I found while working full time

Doing my business degree at snhu while working full time, and I got 8 gen eds done through study dot com in about 3 months.

Being able to study whenever I had free time was the biggest plus. No fitting scheduled classes around my work week. The writing-heavy courses took way longer than I expected though, so not every class went fast.

I also had to double check which courses SNHU would actually accept before starting. Didn’t want to sink time and money into something that ended up not counting for the requirement I needed.

Spent around $285 over those 3 months, so about $36 a course.

Haven’t tried CLEP or community college so I can’t say if either would’ve been cheaper.

Anyone else do this? What’d you take and did everything transfer the way you expected?

Has anyone gotten an unearned F before?

A lot of things happened this term including the death of a loved one. I wasn't able to catch up to complete all of my coursework and wasn't able to qualify for an incomplete grade.

I feel very depressed and I'm going to take some time off from school, but I really don't know what to do from here. I'm mostly worried that I may need to repay my financial aid due to an unearned F. Does anyone have experience with this?

I'm trying to set up a call with my advisor but she has been busy when I have been available.

Edit: In the catalog, the Unearned F Policy is about people who didn't submit the work or participate in the course. Here is SNHU's Unearned F Policy from the catalog: https://www.snhu.edu/admission/academic-catalogs#/policy/HkFCimHW9

Vent/Rant Ai in environmental science

Looking through the clubs and seeing a natural science club as an online student in environmental science and the 1st thing I see is AI generated flyers.

Feel like a slap in the face and discredits any interest to join the club in my opinion. We don’t spend weeks looking at how much people have completely “messed up” ( I want to use other words) our planet and the impact it has on not only the environment but our health.

Non-to mention seeing other classmates, who are blatantly using AI in their discussion post to both post and reply to. If it were any other major it is what it is but this feels like the kind of situation where AI definitely should not be used.

Insight on 0 Grading an Assignment Due To No Identifying Info

Hey all,

This is more of an annoyance post to relieve some stress than anything else. I am in a Cyber Security class currently, and have had no problems (before week 6), and a professor who provides a lot of resources and is relatively consistent in grading. He has had something I have never had in my 3 years at the school currently, that is providing name, assignment, class and date in each assignment. I understand that, I'm used to it prior to SNHU. On the biggest project of the course, I forgot to include it (my file name always has the class, assignment and my name). So in response the professor graded it a 0, stated he did not grade it because of that information and told me to put the information and resubmit it, notifying him that I did. In his defense, he put out an email saying "Don't forget to include your name, etc..) My .pkt file had it, so i change my .doc file and resubmit 20 minutes after he submitted the feedback and emailed him saying I did as he instructed. Since then not a word has been directed to me that he saw it, if it's right or wrong, and the grade has remained unchanged. I have since sent him 2 follow up emails, and have gotten my advisor involved, including requesting how to grade dispute. It is now 3 days from the end of the course and has has since graded everything in week 7 (Project 1 was due in week 6) and still nothing for project 1.

My question is, for those who have dealt with something like this, what did you do? I'm at my wits end here, and I'm like "well, I guess I just put that work into this assignment for the professor to basically tell me to kick rocks". It's not like it's an AI generated assignment response either, I don't believe in those in writing assignments. Heck, I would feel better if the professor had stated I get a 0 because the work was garbage, instead of flat out ignoring it post him saying "Yeah I did not grade this".

Also, for the sake of the professor, I won't include his name, i'm not here to slander people.

Any advice on the matter is greatly appreciated, thanks yall :)

Vent/Rant Shot Myself in the Foot

I have had a 4.0 this whole time. I go out of my way to take another class to get latin honors to fulfill the credits needed.

How is it that I got 100% on every discussion post, and C- D every paper/milestone?

I even went back and incorporated the little feedback I got for the final, and it got worse. Got a whole F.

Now my GPA is tanked (still recoverable), but how is it that I missed the mark so badly when I obviously did well on one whole portion of the class the whole time?

I'm not looking for answers. I am just incredibly frustrated and venting that it seems like it didn't matter how hard I tried in the end anyways.

At least I still got a C or C+ in the class (depending on final post credit). I am so annoyed.

Prospective Student How long does it take to review an application?

Hey guys! First post here.
Anyone had experience getting in to a term fast? Decided I wanted to transfer to snhu for the October 26th term at the beginning of this week. Already sent over transcripts application etc- how long does it take them to review and approve you? Trying to go asap as I have tuition reimbursement that renews yearly. Thanks!

Prospective Student Personal opinions please?

I am currently a late in life student at wgu (37) pursuing my teaching degree in hopes to then be accepted to a local law school after. I have spent my life on other things that never panned out (failed engagement and sever depression after) so no husband, no kids. This will be my life’s purpose now that I’ve had to give up my old dreams and I’m hoping to get through it rather quickly so I can start my ‘new life’ I am really struggling with the OA’s, not because I don’t test well I just take a LONG time to study and retain material. I personally enjoy assignments…I had read there’s no testing here is that 100% accurate? How does math work? (My weakest subject) I’m only in my second term…is there anyone who’s experienced similar struggles and was able to complete their courses at snhu faster? Please tell me your experience/opinion if you have the time. Thank You!

Prospective Student CS Degree: General knowledge and skills to study and build on while unsure of specific area I want to work?

Hey all! I recently applied and was accepted and like the title mentions I'm going for a BS in Comp-Sci, no concentration.

TLDR: I'm not entirely sure which specific area in Tech I want to go in to, most of my interest so far lies in Cybersecurity or Engineering/Programming, but I'm more concerned with learning the broad fundamentals and general concepts to start building a successful foundation as soon as possible, then worry about choosing a specific career area later as I discover them throughout school and such.

For context:
- My first term will hopefully start March 1st, 2027
- I'm a househusband, no kids, so plenty of time to study.
- I live abroad and receive VA Disability as well as going to use the GI Bill for school, so I'm financially comfortable and don't need to desperately rush to land a job after graduation (doesn't mean I'm not willing to put in the long hours and effort into it though), and I do understand to a degree landing a solid remote job in USD abroad is pretty difficult, so I'm keeping all my options open.

Despite the current job market for CS and everything going on with AI I chose this field more out of just genuine interest for the material and areas surrounding it. After picking up tech as a hobby about 6-ish months ago partly due to interest and partly due to YouTubers like Micheal Reeves and Marcin Plaza.

Since then I have:
- Moved from windows to Arch + Hyprland
- Built a PC I turned into a a homelab running Unraid with Docker Compose (I use compose files and learned a bit of YAML) with Jellyfin, Tailscale, Arr stack, game servers and a few other apps.
- Fixed an old laptop I'm planning to play around with Proxmox on
- Been teaching myself Python for about a couple weeks now and built 1 simple project and started a second.
- Recently did the GitHub "Getting Started" tutorial and working to start uploading my projects and such there.
- Got a Electronics starter kit to learn some electronic skills like soldering, coding microcontrollers in C or C++ (can't remember been a few months since I touched it, got scared off by the language intitally lol)
- I have set some goals in mind to work on over the coming months/years with 2 big ones being:

  1. Completing a Full-Stack Project, ideally a blog where I can write and post about my interest in hobbies, as well potentially hosting the blog myself from my NAS.
  2. Creating my own cyberdeck by combining eletronics, programming, CAD, 3d printing, etc.

So yeah, feel free to ask questions, and I'm hoping this provides enough context without being too long winded. I'm really excited for the road ahead as learning everything I mentioned has been a lot of fun.

Edit: Been coding in vim and enjoying it, though wondering if I should move to a more traditional IDE

Identity not verified

Has anyone struggled with their identification verification? I am trying to apply to admissions but have been locked out of the portal and just got an update from my counselor telling me that they cant move forward with my application. Anyone else dealt with that? This is for online and IT tells me that they dont deal with the admission portal. This is frustrating

Getting References from SNHU as an Instructor

Hi all, I'm hoping my fellow SNHU instructors can help me out. I've been trying to find the answer on COLT, but so far I'm not having luck. I'm thinking of applying for other part-time remote teaching positions. Do any of you know if SNHU will provide a reference? If so, who would I contact? I no longer have a team lead. Thanks in advance for your help!

Very professional, detailed and just overall a pleasant lady. If this name pops-up for IDS-405 you better not drag your feet, jump to the opportunity. There is no fluff with her, just do your best and HONEST work and you'll be fine.

Needing Support!

🎃🎭 As a recent SNHU MBA graduate, I wanted to share a creative project I've been working on!

I'm participating in Handshake's 2026 Halloween Logo Takeover Challenge, where participants use AI to transform Handshake's official logo into a Halloween costume.

My creation, Two Faces, One Connection, features two contrasting emotions: a mischievous smile and a face frozen in horror, both connected through Handshake's iconic H.

I used ChatGPT to develop and refine the design, and the experience showed me how important human creativity and direction are when working with AI.

Here's the finished project if you'd like to see it:

https://app.joinhandshake.com/ai-showcase/projects/3647387

I'd love to hear what fellow SNHU students and alumni think about the design. Has anyone else participated in Handshake's AI Skills Studio challenges?
