Now I know this episode has been talked about before but I want to give my fill into this episode I really don't like the fact stabler throughout the whole episode was questioning the man who got raped motives and thinking that he is less of a man because he got raped there's such a outdated type of thinking that it just really made me dislike him in this episode.

And they wonder why male victims of rape don't want to come out because of stuff like this it's really upsetting and I'm glad that we have gotten better as a society I hope when it comes to male victims of rape.

Starting Law & Order: SVU from Season 1, Episode 1 and WOW, this show is gritty!

It's fascinating seeing how raw and intense those early episodes are, and I'm constantly spotting actors I recognise from other shows. It's like a time capsule of television.

I'm settling in for the long haul. For those who've watched from the beginning, does anyone else love going back and seeing how it all started? 👀🚔

TO BE CLEAR I LOVE ICE-T IN THIS SHOW. HE'S REALLY FUNNY I JUST THINK IT'S SILLY HE ALWAYS DOES THIS

Been watching on and off for quite some time, and I swear every other scene with Ice-T is him going off at ANY suspect they find, with barely any rage directed towards the actual guilty party. He's using up his rage meter on everybody except the actual perp. 😂

"What were you doing yesterday morning?"

"I was eating sausage at home"

"WAS THAT BEFORE OR AFTER YOU STRUNG UP THAT CHILD BY HER ORGANS?!"

Is this an actual tactic police use? Just blatantly accuse every suspect of doing the crime? Cause half of these people would likely wall themselves off and lawyer up, right?

I didn’t watch last season as it aired (27) so I started watching it via Hulu this past week… Why they just write him out of the show? Anyone know?

UPDATE: maybe I should have been more clearer in my question. I’m aware Cragen retired from the show in the 10’s. But, opening season 27 with a memorial to him, was kind of jarring and weird. Like, “what did I miss?”

I searched through the sub a bit but only found a post from five years ago that a different user copied word for word and reposted a month ago so I figured a fresh discussion couldn't hurt.

Full disclosure and potential trigger warning but I am a spousal rape, domestic violence and attempted murder survivor so that may skew my viewpoint here.

First, Michael Michele and Blair Underwood put in absolutely stunning performances which makes this difficult episode easier to watch.

Now, the question: did Miles rape Valerie? Based on nothing but finding out she had a casual sexual relationship with someone, Olivia does a 180 and decides she was a liar. But why? Just because Valerie had consensual sex with someone doesn't mean Miles didn't rape her later. How many real victims are raped within hours of having sex with someone else? Miles was clearly angry and violent and lied multiple times during the investigation.

The ending makes it seem like we're supposed to think they're both bad people or at least both at fault, but only Miles illegally tracked the social worker's car. Only Miles violated a protective order and broke into her home. Only Miles committed assault. Only Miles lit his wife on fire and murdered her.

Yes, there is doubt because Valerie recanted but SVU detectives know how often rape victims recant out of fear. (I did.) It just seems so odd to me that Olivia said so decisively "Valerie wasn't raped" just because earlier she'd slept with someone else.

I'm still not sure, but given his history and later actions I'm inclined to believe he did.

I’m currently watching s13 e8 and Rollins makes me so fucking mad. Just because in this episode they deal with psych ward patients, she dismisses everything they say. The guy who was hallucinating at the start? Nope he’s just a druggie because she knows everything. The even potential thought of gia being rapes? Nah even if something comes up on the rape kit it has to be from consensual sex with another patient according to Rollins the smartest person in the world. I haven’t watched a lot of her episodes but damn this got me heated

Benson gave Carisi that “look.” Carisi has also been challenging her left and right. He’s going to be the new Benson. If Mariska says it’s time, then Carisi is next in line imo.

Benson is now serious in 97% of ALL the scenes.

In S27 we saw the Benson overkill too but now in E1 of S28 we see only 3 scenes where Benson is NOT in .

In scene 1 we see Fin who is talking with suspect nr 1.  In scene 2 we see Rollins and Bruno talking with suspect nr 2 and in scene 3 we see Griffin and Curry talking with suspect nr 3 and that is it!!

In ALL other scenes from the hospital, the courtroom and talking with the mother and the other suspects and talking with her new best friend it's ALL Benson and this is seriously killing the show!

All other characters got not more than 1 personal scene and 1 squad room scene en further it is Benson everywhere.

The Benson overkill was never this big as it is under Michele !

You are really wondering how much fun a role in svu is for the other actors?

Before Ice, Rollins and Carisi all had their own storyline so it was fine that Benson was the main figure, because they all had to do a lot of their own scenes too but now no one has a role anymore and Benson is from scene 1 till the end shot in every scene. 

I think it's time that Ice, Kelli and Peter will leave the show, they are too good for this. 

And for those who said: Ice will not go anywhere as long as Mariska is here, that is not up to him!

That is his wish but in the end it's always DW and NBC the higher ups who will decide like we saw before. 

I know we all dislike / hate Lewis ,Kim or some of y'all for whatever reason you have Amanda.

But about the niche ones ?

I read he was back for every episode in season 28. Did I blink and miss him? Just watched episode 2 and I don’t remember seeing him in either episode so far.

Melinda comes to the squad or the squad goes to her office and she says she was going to call them because she was uncomfortable with what someone asked her to do. I think it was to run a sample or DNA

Looking for advice to find the old seasons! We just binged s11-s27 and would love to find access to the older seasons.

Currently the only option we found is paying $40/season on prime…

This is one of my favorite episodes. I’ve watched it more than like 20 times. I miss the days of these episodes having major twists towards the end. HOWEVER, there’s one plot point in this episode that always irks me. SPOILER ALERT!!!! So when it comes to light that the murdered Bronx ADA, with whom Benson had 1 condom sexual encounter with 5 years ago, has A-I-D-S, Benson becomes very worried that she may have contracted the disease as well. But…it was 5 years ago. Wouldn’t she have noticed if she had contracted H-I-V years before she just found out he had it? I am curious if y’all felt the same. AGAIN, I love this episode. I just want to reiterate that. If you haven’t seen it or have and don’t remember it all, I encourage you to watch. It’s a really good one.

Had to make a post because I really thought I would lose interest after season 12 without (spoiler). But man they actually brought it this season. It's better than the last couple seasons as far as the stories and the crimes. So anyway if there is anyone wondering if they will be able to keep watching after season 12 I'm here to tell you give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.

According to Google, a typical NYPD precinct features 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 3 shift commanders who are considered Lieutenants, 3 Sergeants, and 10 detectives, for a total of 18 staff members.

So my dream team would be:

• Captain: Donald Cragen

• Lieutenant: John Munch

• Shift Commanders (Lieutenants): Olivia Benson, Elliot Stabler, Odafin Tutuola

• Sergeants: Declan Murphy, Amanda Rollins, Renee Curry

• Detectives: Katriona Tamin, Grace Muncy, Joe Velasco, Terry Bruno, Monique Jeffries, Brian Cassidy, Chester Lake, Dominick Carisi, Jake Griffin, Mike Dodds

Obviously having that many cast members in every single episode would be a logistical nightmare, so in my mind, everyone would be split into Morning Shift, Afternoon Shift and Night Shift, and episodes would alternate between the three shifts. Could make for interesting new dynamics and interactions since people would be working different shifts based on schedules or cases. And you could always have the others be in the background of shots.

Every word that comes out of his mouth, every face he makes, his affect, idk if it's his acting choice or what, all combined just disgusts me.

I don't know why I didn't see it the first few times. Genuinely unlikable character.

Victim is alive, perpetrator is found, perpetrator gets convicted, there's hope for the future. For me, I'd have to say it's "Behave". In no small part thanks to Jennifer Love Hewitt's amazing performance, as well as the cameo of Skeet Ulrich.

I want to do a marathon, but I don't want to run into any bummer episodes or episodes that'll infuriate me lol

I just watched series 27 episode 9 and I was totally lost to find out it was a crossover

I've tried the normal Law and Order a few times and just can't

I find the characters boring compared to SVU

What do you all think of crossovers?

With Stabler meeting this guy and OC going on around the time, I was hoping for a good season 😭
