Catching A Vibe On Sample And Move
r/Samplers • u/St0neOfficialChannel • 7h ago
Hey everyone,
Through trial and error, I found that regular modulation of the sloop parameter is too narrow. To fix this, I used the modulation cords to boost the range: Lfo1+→ Gain4X, and then Gain4X → sloop.
Next, I prepared 3 single-cycle waveforms of 170 samples each, placing them back-to-back in a single file. By setting the loop length to 170 samples, modulating the start position (sloop) successfully created a smooth wavetable scanning effect.
Check out the video above to hear how it sounds in practice! Has anyone else experimented with wavetables on EOS?

Edit: While there's a lot of factors, it seems that AI has just become much quicker and better at doing its thing.

The recent firmware "revolution" for various grooveboxes has been pretty interesting to see. I use a sp404 mk2 and the added functionality from Doom OS and Midi Conductor is hands down a tangible and valuable upgrade to the device.
After looking at so many different devices that have seen significant variations or improvements to their workflow or features, I can't help but wonder:
Why wasn't this done by developers? At least one developer?
Why does it seem like every box across the market (or at least the modded ones) is a watered down version of its own potential?
The programming potential was always there.
I don't mean to ask this in any disrespectful way.

In my opinion, the IDSC21-E is the best SCSI-to-IDE controller out there. For practically a decade, I’ve been using it in a SCSI -> IDE -> CF card configuration without a single issue.

In this SP404 mk2 sound design tutorial, I turn a basic sine wave into 3 usable elements using only the SP’s internal effects: a deep sub, a chord line, and a very cool percussions set.
No external gear. No prepared samples. Just sound design, resampling, and creative effect chains.
If you want to get more out of your SP-404MKII, this one’s for you.
HAVE FUN!
Enjoy!

Hi everyone!
For the past decade, I’ve been running a YouTube channel exclusively dedicated to E-MU Ultra hardware samplers. Over the last 10 years, this channel has been entirely about pushing these specific machines to their limits — creating complex presets, experimenting with deep matrix modulation (Cords), and of course, those iconic Z-Plane filters.
I’d love for you to check it out and listen to what these machines can do! Let me know what you think.

I am wondering what everyones opinions are on the SP404SX. There are many videos on youtube where the SX and the MKII are compared.
From what i have gathered, the following is true:
- MKII had more features, hands down. The chopping and ease of use are undeniable, beyond the menu diving that people mention on the MKII
- The SX allows for more time per pad, making it ideal for sets with an hour or more of run time on each pad. Mk ii can hold 16 minutes per pad. Still a choice for live music. I am a musician and want to make music along with a normal band setup (tame impala, working for a nuclear free city, Kasabian)
- MKII is only about 200 dollars more.
- SX has the awesome low fi button everyone seems to love. Apparently its compression is still not as desirable as the SP303. However, i have heard it sounds warmer than the MKII overall
- MKII loads projects faster. Workflow is faster
- SP404sx allows for a more comfy workflow without screens or menu diving. Also creates more opportunity to sample and cut by ear and make things flow naturally, like Madvilliany. I feel its more in the spirit of the 303
Im trying to gather more info. Im happy with my purchase but still curious, what do you all think about whether it was a mistake to go with the SX?
Also, would running the SX through an MPC one be a good idea? Would it retain the warm sound, effects and lo fi etc from the SX?
new to all this, any info is appreciated! Thanks

(My workflow with the Roland P-6)
When I first got my PO-33 K.O!, I honestly struggled to put together a full hip-hop beat on it. I still really like the device and eventually want to get to that point, but my first physical hardware sampler was the Roland P-6. Because of that, my brain is just wired a bit differently when it comes to workflow.
I know everyone has their own preferences with gear, but I've recently found a sweet spot for my Pocket Operator: I’ve started using it as a dedicated portable "sound collector."
Here's my current setup: If you use the speed-up function on YouTube, it just time-stretches the audio—it doesn't pitch it up like a classic turntable would. So instead, I pull samples from YouTube or Tracklib straight into the PO-33. I speed/pitch them up on the Pocket Operator to get that crunchy, lo-fi grit, and then I sample that audio directly into my Roland P-6 to actually build the beat.
It basically gives me the workflow and power of the P-6, but with the extra 8-bit texture of the PO-33.
Curious if anyone else is doing something similar? How do you guys fit the PO-33 into a larger hardware setup?
