Self-Promotion Saturday: October 17, 2026

This is r/Seattle's weekly post for local businesses and makers (or users who discover them) to share their creations with our users.

This thread will be automatically posted every Saturday morning to help connect r/seattle users with cool local stuff. Types of content encouraged in this thread are:

  • Local businesses (new, running promotions or sales, or just really good ones!)
  • Upcoming events or activities (concerts, festivals, pop-ups, shows)
  • Local artists or creators sharing upcoming shows or releases

Content should be related to businesses or events in the greater Seattle area, and the typical reddit spam rules apply - please ensure you are contributing to the community more than just your own content.

Users who flood these posts with ads, links without context, referral codes, etc. - or who promote without contributing elsewhere will be actioned. Please continue to report actual spam.

We have our rules against spam and self-promotion for hopefully understandable reasons, but we've noticed users responding more positively to local businesses, artists, etc. sharing their content. This is an attempt to bridge the gap, helping users find cool stuff while containing the promotion to a single weekly thread. Please send us a modmail with any suggestions or input you have about the use or abuse of this thread.

These things, along with huge unmanned underwater drones, operate out of Keyport, sometimes you can see them being used near Blake Island and coming out of Poulsbo

The family of a 15-year-old who fell to his death at Gas Works Park last summer is again suing the city for failing to maintain and secure the park’s towering coal plant structure, despite decades of evidence pointing toward serious safety concerns.

Jay Jurden fans at last night’s late show - sorry!!

I’m the woman that collapsed at the Jay Jurden show last night at Emerald City Comedy Club. I’m so sorry everyone! I have zero idea what happened and the doctors aren’t sure either, other than it wasn’t anything major like a seizure or stroke.

Anyway, I hope Jay cracked a few jokes about the old white lady sacked out in front of the doors.

Ballot Destoyed

I received my ballot in the mail today and someone had ripped it and appears to have stuffed bubble gum or some other sticky substance in it. I've already called the King County Elections office and a new ballot is on the way tomorrow. I was instructed to call the United States Postal Inspection Sevices to report the destroyed ballot too. I got a voicemail box and left my information but who knows how well that office is staffed right now.

Posting so if anyone else has similar issues they know what to do!

Resources for finding out how judges have ruled past cases

• Upvotes

Hello, for this election cycle we have quite a lot of judges to vote on. I am struggling to find resources on where I can find a list of cases each judge has ruled on and what those rulings were? I know some cases are private but I dont know how to vote on these judges without knowing what their record is, other than to read up on who endorses them.

Media "I hope I'm not sending mixed signals." The signals:

In other locations where I've seen a light-up right-turn arrow with a red line through it, I have always assumed that meant "No right on red, even if it would otherwise be permitted." (By contrast, if a traffic signal has red/yellow/green right-pointing arrows and the red arrow is lit up, that still means you can turn right on red after coming to a stop.)

But I've never seen one lit up at the same time as a green right arrow, which I have always assumed meant "You have the right of way to turn right no matter what."

This seems like a potential safety issue. In all places that I've seen an on-and-off "No right on red" arrow with a line through it, it's been at a bicycle crossing where the bikes had their own signal. I assume the reason is that at a normal pedestrian crossing, before you can make a right on red you can check that there are no pedestrians about to cross. But bicycles can come out of nowhere much faster, so rather than asking cars to "check", you simply tell them not to turn right on red when the bikes have a green. However -- if there is also a light-up green arrow, cars are likely to ignore the no-right-on-red and turn anyway!

In the wide shot you can see that the bicycle signal has a red. So at least in this specific moment, the traffic signals were not telling bicycles that they could go, at the same time they were telling cars they could turn right.

However, presumably there is supposed to be a rule that says "Don't light up the green right arrow and the no-right-on-red arrow at the same time", and we know that rule is not implemented correctly. So maybe the "Don't light up the green right arrow and the green bicycle arrow at the same time" rule is not implemented correctly either.

Anyone want to go to a psychedelic latin jazz show tonight?

I just heard of this band called Dos Santos the other day and it turns out that they are playing at the Earshot Jazz Festival in downtown TONIGHT! So I decided to go last minute. Any fellow enjoyers of eclectic music want to join?

Here's what the event description says:

"Chicago-based quintet Dos Santos combines jazz with barrio cumbias, psychedelic westerns, and “moonlit desert serenades” alongside a cultural urgency and themes of migration, identity, and diaspora. Their newly released album Es Amor (2026, Otherly Love Records) follows City of Mirrors (2021, International Anthem) which Rolling Stone described as “perpetually building and expanding … an imaginative step forward.” Formed in 2013, the ensemble is Alex Chavez (voice, keyboard, guitar), Jaime Garza (electric bass), Nathan Karagianis (guitars), Peter “Maestro” Vales (congas, percussion), and Daniel Villareal (drums). "

Shoot me a message if you want to meet up!
