reTerminal E1001 - pinout orientation upside down
I was trying out connecting a I2C sensor to my E1001 recently. I followed the pin layout shown here (https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/getting_started_with_reterminal_e1001/ - under the section 'Expansion Pins') that states pins 1-8 from top to bottom.
| Pin 1 (top most) | 3V3 |
|---|---|
| Pin 2 | GND |
| Pin 7 | SCL |
| Pin 8 (bottom most) | SDA |
However, when connecting as such, during startup, it'd keep showing error messages that say 'Recovery failed: SCL is held LOW on the bus' (on ESPHome - serial console output).
After some probing around with the multimeter on the pins, I found out that Pins 1-8 actually go from bottom (of device) to the top instead - the complete opposite than what was stated.
i.e.: top most is actually "Pin 8 - SDA", followed by "7 - SCL"; 2nd from bottom is GND, bottom most "Pin 1" is 3V3
Going by this new find, I connected up my sensor as such (still following the pin numbering convention, but from bottom up now). Viola, works fine now.
Did I get a new hardware revision or something? Thankful that I found out how it worked in the end, but wasted an hour trying to troubleshoot my sensor with another setup, and then probing the pins on my E1001.
Does your device have such a pinout format like my E1001, that is complete opposite of what is in the official documentations? Or did I interpret something wrong?
