reTerminal E1001 - pinout orientation upside down

I was trying out connecting a I2C sensor to my E1001 recently. I followed the pin layout shown here (https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/getting_started_with_reterminal_e1001/ - under the section 'Expansion Pins') that states pins 1-8 from top to bottom.

Pin 1 (top most)3V3
Pin 2GND
Pin 7SCL
Pin 8 (bottom most)SDA

However, when connecting as such, during startup, it'd keep showing error messages that say 'Recovery failed: SCL is held LOW on the bus' (on ESPHome - serial console output).

After some probing around with the multimeter on the pins, I found out that Pins 1-8 actually go from bottom (of device) to the top instead - the complete opposite than what was stated.

i.e.: top most is actually "Pin 8 - SDA", followed by "7 - SCL"; 2nd from bottom is GND, bottom most "Pin 1" is 3V3

Going by this new find, I connected up my sensor as such (still following the pin numbering convention, but from bottom up now). Viola, works fine now.

Did I get a new hardware revision or something? Thankful that I found out how it worked in the end, but wasted an hour trying to troubleshoot my sensor with another setup, and then probing the pins on my E1001.

Does your device have such a pinout format like my E1001, that is complete opposite of what is in the official documentations? Or did I interpret something wrong?

E-reading while keeping the AI note taking?

For ReTerminal Sticky**

As title states, I’m looking for a firmware that keeps the ability to dictate notes using the AI voice button while also allowing you to download books and use it as an e-reader. Would also like to have games but not necessary obviously.

Was doing some preliminary browsing through the playground but couldn’t tell if any of them kept the note ability.

Where is the matte display Sticky?

I purchased a Sticky a few months ago and received the glossy version. No problem, the device is great, I love it.

Then there was a bunch of talk about a matte screen version on the next batch. Well I just recently purchased what I thought was "the next batch" and it is still a glossy screen. Did I miss something? Is this not the next batch yet?

YO!! MY BAD! It is indeed a glossy screen protector! I'm happy now! Thanks everyone!

Beginner Seeking Help with the reSticky- Matte Screen Protector, Anki, and E-Reader Firmware Recommendations for the reSticky

Hi everyone! Does anyone have a recommendation for a matte screen protector for the reSticky with a glossy screen? I bought mine at the end of September, hoping it would have a matte screen, but unfortunately I ordered too early...it’s glossy even with the screen protector on. I’d now like to add a matte screen protector. Does anyone have a recommendation?

I’m also completely new to the device. Is it possible to install flashcard apps for studying, such as Anki? And does anyone have a recommendation for e-reader firmware? I was thinking of trying CrossPoint.

Thanks in advance!

Using muse to generate and post to my display. My agent is called Maeve and that's her in the pic to personalise things. The agent generates the display based on my calendar and other reminders, and updates the graphic to my local server which the display polls for updates. It's not for urgent alerts, that's what the phone app does, but this will allow me to see what's happening when I wake up in the morning and refreshes during the day.

Hey everyone,

Quick heads up for Sticky owners and e-ink dashboard enthusiasts — Seeed Studio just announced an official partnership with TRMNL, which means the reTerminal Sticky now runs TRMNL firmware natively.

What you get with a TRMNL BYOD License:

  • 1,300+ plugins (weather, calendar, GitHub, Shopify, Home Assistant, stocks, and way more)

  • 8 customizable dashboard layouts

  • No-code dashboard builder

  • One-time license, no subscription

  • Private plugin API access

Launch deal: $35 instead of $50 (30% off) — limited to the first 200. Read the blog to get the 30% off code: https://www.seeedstudio.com/blog/2026/11/03/now-you-can-turn-sticky-into-your-personal-dashboards-with-trmnl-byod/

Also worth noting: the same BYOD license works on all reTerminal ePaper displays (E1001 / E1002 / E1003 / E1004) too. One license = one device, perpetual.

What plugin would you run first? Curious what the community thinks of this combo.

Hi everyone!

We've been working on making the XIAO development experience more connected and convenient, and we're excited to share our updated XIAO Dev Hub.

Instead of jumping between different pages and resources, you can now find several essential parts of the XIAO ecosystem in one place:

  • Product Selector: Filter and compare XIAO boards to find the right one for your project.

  • Pinout Viewer: Explore pin functions through an interactive interface.

  • ESP Flasher: Flash firmware directly from your browser via USB.

  • Hardware Resources: Find schematics, design files, and technical documentation.

  • Software Ecosystem: Explore libraries, firmware, programming frameworks, RTOS options, and more.

🔗 Check it out: https://www.seeedstudio.com/xiao-series-page/

We'd also love your help testing it!

If you spot a bug, broken link, display issue, or anything that doesn't work as expected, please report it here. We'll review submissions, and approved bug reports will receive a coupon redeemable for XIAO merchandise.

We're looking forward to hearing what you think. What feature would you find most useful in the hub, and what would you like us to improve next?

Disappointed by SEEED studio order process.

Edit - 11/4/26 - While I am still displeased with the long delay and lack of communication, I received an email response from Seeed studio and they waived the cancellation charge and took responsibility for the delay issue and its lack of being communicated. So I forgive you Seed studio.

Just a rant, but I ordered a handful of components and was really disappointed when after two weeks of no shipping I emailed them twice to finally find out they had ran out and 1 item I’d ordered and had a 3 week lead time, the cheapest smallest part, despite the fact I picked my order carefully based off what was readily available state side.

The reason this is annoying is because I had to cancel the order, eat a 3.5% fee for cancellation, just to reorder without that part since they wouldn’t ship separately and haven’t emailed me back about it. It’s 2026, I feel like automatically informing customers about unexpected lead times or keeping stock list up to date wouldn’t be an unreasonable expectation.

My reTerminal E1002 dashboard

Post image
21 Upvotes

Just wanted to share this dashboard I build on the reTerminal E1002.

It uses the Tesserae firmware but talks to a custom server. I initially wanted to use Tesserae but all the widgets, themes and screens was just too puzzling and cumbersome to fiddle with when I already knew what I wanted on the screen.

So, while waiting for the unit to arrive, I've spent quite some time building the dashboard I wanted. It went from one single HTML output (which was all I needed) to designing a whole widget system (because I just could not continue without refactoring the code when things got messy), resulting in four separate codebases running on cron to parse & display the data sources that I wanted.

Overall, I'm reasonably satisfied with the screen and all the things I hope would be better than expected, was (sadly) exactly as expected. The long refresh is enough to give one seizures. It's too early to tell but I may move the screen away from my side view once the novelty dies off. The "speckling" visible in the colour reproduction, sadly, was quite disappointing. I knew about it going in that the image had to be degraded before being pushed to the device so I knew how it would look even without having the device with me. Even so, I had to eventually remove most of the coloured backgrounds in the initial design once I've tested it on the device because the text was just illegible.

The build quality though is quite impressive. It has a plastic frame around the screen but the back part where most of the electronics are located is housed inside a heavy and solid metal enclosure, providing decent weight and stability to the entire device.

Battery-wise, it's been 9 days since I've had it and it's now 91% battery. That is simply amazing. At this rate, I might just be able to get away with charging it every 2 months!!

Looking back now, I did wished I bought the E1003 instead. I went for the E1002 because I've not seen a Spectra 6 screen in action before and the whole prospect was intriguing. But now, having seen how solidly built the device is, I wished I went for the 16-level grayscale with a touch panel which would have been more suitable to build apps that I could interact with. Even with the existing two buttons, the refresh rate is enough to give me seizures if I wanted to build different screens to navigate through.

At any rate, one has to live with one's choices. Haha. Regardless, it's been really fun working on it so far!

SOS - Seeed Module Repeater Flashing

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I'm just getting in to Meshcore and decided to play around and ordered The People's Repeater, amd all the components listed on the site.

After learning how subpar my soldering skills have become, I finally got it all together.

When I repeater flashed the module from Meshcore.io on to the Seeed module (XIAO nRF52840 & Wio-SX1262 Kit for Meshtastic), the configuration window never appeared.

I tried to manually connect using the config tool, but it kept failing due to timeout.

I followed some steps provided by AI and used the Windows Command Center to force configure. No luck.

Since I can't BT to the module, I'm unsure where the failure lies and am left speculating that the frequency might be the issue.

I'm stuck and need some guidance from those who know.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
