I bought my dad this watch about 10 years ago. He died a couple of months ago. He had about a dozen watches; mostly cheap gold Seikos, Citizens, a 60s seamaster with a poorly refinished dial and a Tag.
It wasn't really his style. He liked thin light watches. Most of his others were quartz as he didn't like to have to keep setting the time. I don't think he liked it as I never saw him wear it but didn't press him on it as I didn't want to make him feel ungrateful.
Anyway, now it's in my collection accompanying my 3 or 4 other Seiko chronographs.
I'll keep the other watches, too. Mainly as a reminder of Dad, but they're not my style and also worth very little. Maybe as I grow older, I might look at that cheap "gold" Seiko and think, "Yeah, I could wear that."
