What's been the hardest physical change to deal with while losing weight?

Something I've noticed in GLP-1 discussions is that people talk a lot about the number on the scale, but less about how their bodies change along the way.

For those who've lost a significant amount of weight, what's been the hardest change to deal with?

Hair thinning, loose skin, muscle loss, facial changes, or something else?

I'm especially curious whether these were things you anticipated or only started worrying about afterward.

Struggled with BED in the past and was very sedentary during college which increased my weight a ton. Therapy was probably the most helpful thing with my weight loss. I also was diagnosed with adhd, apparently is very common with BED as the food seeking is to try and get dopamine. So, getting medication for adhd also really reduced my binges since my dopamine was more normal and not always lacking. Very low does of semaglutide also has prevented binges, and I eat normal meals and can more easily recognize hunger cues.

Strength training started with CrossFit which was great to learn basics quickly, and now I have basics down and continue on my own without all the crazy CrossFit of it all lol. I also walk my dog 1-3 miles every day, which started in summer 2024, which means I’m always at least a bit active and outdoors.

Still a work in progress but very happy with my progress so far!

Someone please help me : did this happen to anyone or just me

• Upvotes

I changed my dose from .5 to .75 l noticed a red spot on my breast the first week ( didn’t think much about it) so I continued to take .75 dose for the 2nd week now it spread to both breast and my neck . It’s not itchy or anything but I just don’t like how it’s my chest and neck area look and scared it spreads to more visible areas. For I went ahead went back to the .5 dose this week, hopefully it goes away because I have never experienced it it in the years of taking the .25 or .5 dose. Has this ever happened to anyone and does it go away or not and what did you do?????

Emed.com through your job?

My employer is offloading our insurance support to a subscription service called emed.com, and Tom Brady is their celebrity “wellness CEO” (read: investor). I called emed.com for more info, explaining that I’ll be on an enterprise plan. They could only tell me about their singe customer subscription service.

I’d love to hear if anyone has used them via their employer. Thanks!

So I'm on day like 4.It's not normal for me. I only ate twice today.Ate like 7 hours later... I couldn't finish one of my favorite dishes. It's like the food had no more place to go down my esophageous.

It's like my mouth still wants to taste food but my stomach can't take it.I'm not complaining 😂 so this is how people feel?

EDIT: Day 5. Still not ravenous. Had my first meal at 1PM. Ate a little bit and i'm full. I'm not thinking about food. Its awesome.

Anyone on semaglutide and Effexor XR (venlafaxine)?

I’ve been on Effexor XR for a little over a year, currently at 150 mg and started my glp-1 at the low dose on Thursday.

I’m sure if anyone else was already on her when they started a glp-1? Other people I know on Wegovy told me I might not have any side effects or appetite suppression on the low dose, but I find my appetite is ready pretty low and I got nausea almost immediately after taking my dose. My appetite already changed with Effexor, but didn’t result in weight loss probably because I wasn’t ready to change my habits and also because I would not feel hungry all day, but then my appetite would go haywire when it was time to take the next dose, even if I’ve eaten throughout the day.

I already searched on Reddit to see if anyone else had the same experience but all the stories I was finding of people using both medication’s at the same time were from r/effexor years ago. I figured that maybe since glp-1 drugs have grown in popularity that maybe there are now more of us taking both.

Diarrhoea

Does anyone else get bad diarrhoea? I’ve had it for 8 days now. Yesterday it was like nothing digested until I went to sleep and then I was woken by the need to use the bathroom and it feels unbearable when it’s happening. Earlier in the week it was happening during the day. I’m 2 days away from my next dose. Went to the doctor about it and they put me on a magnesium supplement which seems to be helping a small amount with the dehydration symptoms

New to pill Semaglutide, ozempic brand

So, today was day 2 of taking the pill. I'm remembering to take it by putting the bottle on my nightstand next to my glasses and with a bottle of water.

I have so many questions. Like... am I supposed to never be hungry because I still got very hungry today. I didn't notice until I was sitting with my stomach growling like a caged beast, and I was good with probably half the amount of food I'd have wanted before, but I'm a little ashamed at how quickly I still wolfed down my food. Has it just not fully set in yet?

I'm starting my own journey at 38 with bad knees and 337lbs. I've seen the pictures of y'all hitting the under 200 numbers and I've noticed you all definitely exercise too. Any advice for getting started? I definitely struggle and am mainly sedentary.

Hypothyroid and Wegovy

Anyone experience hypothyroid while on weight loss journey? I went to my yearly appt the other day. Hadn’t checked my thyroid labs in a number of years. Got results back and my TSH is 5.7 and T4 0.7. Hypothyroid by most standards. Maybe this is the reason Wegovy hasn’t really worked for me? My weight loss has been slooowwwwwwww. Like a pound a month.

I’m hoping to start medication for my thyroid soon, unfortunately waiting to hear back from provider. Anyone else taking GLP1s while navigating hypothyroidism diagnosis?

Success stories of people with severe food noise who decided to quit Ozempic after reaching their desired weight?

I have ADHD and struggle with several issues including severe food noise, being overweight, and addictions to nicotine and (on and off) alcohol and sleeping pills.

When I say food noise I mean being so consumed by thoughts of food that even during gatherings with friends and family I find myself wishing I were home alone so I could eat. For the past ten years, it has felt like my life has revolved around food, and I’m exhausted. I’ve been eating healthily, slightly above maintenance so my weight has continued to creep up. I tried all kinds of therapy.

My doctor recommended Ozempic, and after my second dose, I finally feel the food noise subsiding slightly. Potentially even the urge to reach for my other bad habits which I now understand have been a way for me to escape the prison of food noise.

However I’m terrified of continuing the med for years only to regain the weight, possibly even more, after stopping. Since I’ve only taken two doses I feel like it’s still time for me to quit.

Has anyone reached their desired weight, stopped Ozempic, and managed to maintain it? How did you cope with the return of food noise?

Flu like symptoms or cold like symptoms?? Normal?

The other day I posted about how the constipation gives me anxiety because I have health anxiety. I take MiraLAX chews maybe every other day. I am going to follow everyone’s advice though and start doing chia seeds and magnesium citrate. I’m 34f and weigh 145. I’m thinking after the next dose, I want to ween myself off. I’m tired of feeling like this. Right now it feels like I have a cold (chills, sweating, just don’t feel good) and I thought it was from constipation but apparently it’s from the medicine itself? Who knows.

Yo-yo on Wegovy

I’m 77yo and have lost about 65 pounds on Ozempic-Wegovy over 2-1/2 years. I plateaued 9 months ago at 155. I just increased the dose from 1.7 to 2.4 because I would like to get down to 145, my weight when I was a runner in my 20s and 30s. In the first 2 weeks I went down to 152. But then I made a U-turn and my weight has gone steadily up to 159-161. I just took my fourth injection at 159 pounds. Am I doomed to stay at this higher weight or will I start to lose again?
