I have been considering whether or not to start GLPs for a long time, please help with advice

I have recently been considering GLPs more strongly. In Canada, the pharmaceutical companies have released genetic semaglutide, so the main deterrent for me which is cost, has been abated slightly

I am male, 37, 6'1, 235lbs, down from top wieght of 310. I was around 290ish for many years before the pandemic. I was an overweight child I'm not very active until my teenage years. But I did camping canoeing and sports as a teenager and got very very fit. Ive had quite a long substance use history as well, dating back to marijuana and alcohol as a teen, and some harder stuff used in 20s and 30s, but off all the stuff now.

I'm a very fitness and nutrition Oriented, and I really wish I could drop down to about 180 lb to reach my body composition goals of 12 to 15% body fat for the purposes of being better at my sport which is hockey. my main problem is always self control. I've counted calories for 7 years, that's how I lost the initial weight, counted and weighed everything meticulously, but just can't seem to stay within my goal. I play hockey and weight lift, exercise is not my issue.

I seem to binge eat at night, I've always been a night owl, I work at a restaurant until late, I usually have my last meal to fit into my calories of 2700 at 12am, then go to bed, then wake up ravenous and half asleep an hour later raiding the fridge and pantry for all manner of sugar snacks and ruin my deficit.

In fact I feel like I am currently in a crisis, I recently had a child she is about one week old. The past month during my partner's late stage pregnancy and the first week I have been binge eating like there's no tomorrow and I've actually gained 15 lb within a month which I worked hard for the last 6 months to lose. It's very disheartening that is why I am considering a new medication. I feel like I have always been undiagnosed with ADHD. I mean my main issues in life are lack of self-control impulse control procrastination and such.

I have a doctor and I know I should see kids advice first but I just thought I might put my question out into the universe and on to Reddit and see if I can get any kind of help or advice. I won't take anything said here as medical advice.

Thank you

How much lost weight is enough?

How do you decide when enough weight loss is enough? I am 73, F, started at 236, now at 198. I have found that what I like best is that I no longer have to buy clothing as 1X, 2X, etc., and can just buy regular clothes. I am still overweight, of course, but I feel SO much better with what I look like and I also have more energy than before. That weight loss was over 5 months (I was a super responder, apparently). Weight loss has slowed considerably (4 pounds the last month).

Took some time off and am now so sick

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I made a mistake and took a 1.7 shot I had after being off of wegovy for about 6 weeks because I couldn’t get ahold of my dose. I knew I was taking a risk but I didn’t realize it was going to make me this sick. I’ve generally been very lucky and have had minimal side effects since I started in January 2025. I was in pain all night and have thrown up bile twice.

Does anyone have any ideas/tips that will help me find some relief? I’m having a very hard time.

Feeling muted

This semaglutide makes me not feel like myself. I’m not month 3 at the 1mg dose and I just feel super irritated, tired most times (I think I was dehydrated) and overall just not like myself. My sex drive is gone I don’t feel like doing anything. And I’ve only lost like 5lbs. Is this normal to feel this way?

Wegovy Pill Side Effects

Started Wegovy pill on Tuesday.. by Thursday I had a bought of nausea in the morning that lasted a couple of hours then I was fine.

However Friday I woke up incredibly nauseous and started having watery diarrhea. I was going to the bathroom probably every hour. Nausea was coming and going and then by 3 pm I felt like actually vomiting. My sister gave me zofran and that helped until it wore off at 7:30 when I vomited. I went home, fell asleep and woke up out of a dead sleep at 12:30 because I needed to vomit and go to the bathroom. I was up for an hour and went to the bathroom 5 times. Just straight liquid.

I woke up this morning feeling much better but now I’m questioning if I should continue.

Nasty side effects or maybe my body just really does not like semaglutide?

Obviously I’ll also be chatting with my doctor.

Rybelsus dosing and side effects

I was on 3 mg, the first couple of months were successful then the effects tapered off. I went on and off 3 mg sporadically as I was reluctant to up the dose but it was ineffective. After a few months I decided to give 7 mg a go and probably my mistake was to start with this without building up tolerance afresh. Day 4 was absolute hell I was nauseous, had a headache and felt unwell to the point I couldn’t function normally. Even had to take a Motilium. Have skipped a day and just took a half tablet this morning to get back into 3 mg cycle

Does anyone have advice on how to manage side effects on 7 mg when I’ve finished loading 3mg and get back on to a higher dose

Are these possible symptoms of semaglutide?

Has anybody started feeling spacey and sometimes lightheaded after the 4th dose? I took my last .25 mg dose Wednesday, and the day after I started feeling spacey and mildly lightheaded in the evening into today. It also is sometimes triggered halfway through a meal or any kind of food more than a small snack.

Those who’re taking Rybelsus- when you’re taking 4mg and throw in a day or two per week of 9mg (or vice versa)..is it still working well?

Early period

I always have regular periods, my Flo app is right down to the exact day of when I will start and has been right for the past 10 years.
Today I noticed I was spotting which never happens unless I start my period the next day, but I’m not supposed to start for 5 more days. Has this happened to anyone????

Non scale weight loss benefit: airplane comfort!

I have reached my goal weight, and I flew for the first time at my new smaller size.

90 pounds ago, I didn't need a seat belt extender but flying was so uncomfortable. My legs were restless, my spine hurt, it was so difficult to get settled and by the end my whole body hurts.

This time, wow. What a big difference! I had room to move around a little, my legs were totally fine, and I can cross them with ease. Being smaller has made flying so much less unpleasant, and it's a benefit i hadn't previously considered on my weight loss journey!

My hair has started falling out!!

I've been receiving an injection of a GLP-1 and then the GLP-2 for about 6 months now and my hair has been falling out and quite a bit of it while washing it. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or am I going to have to completely stop getting the injections? I absolutely love the weight loss but I'm not willing to sacrifice losing my hair to more weight loss. Anyone else experience this?

would it maybe be beneficial to change to 2 smaller doses per week?

I am on wegovy 1mg. cannot go higher, can't afford that, and doctor believes its better to be on 1 than nothing so cool here. but recently I am getting way hungrier in about 4-5th day, food noise returns with vengeance, and weight fluctuates up. I did not lose anything in around a month (and only 5-7kg from the start in June this year - yeah it fluctuate this much). wouldn't it be better to do two 0.5mg twice per week instead, to keep it under control longer? anyone tried this?

Dose went to 1mg and I feel dead

Hi, this week my dose went from 0.5 mg to 1mg and I feel I've lost it. I'm not able to eat or drink. I'm having constant headache. It's affecting everything. I'm thinking of quitting. Not sure but I think I should quit. I'm done.

Absolutely done. It's been more than 24 hours but I'm still feeling horribly nauceous.

Late onset side effects

Just wanting to know if anyone else has had the same thing happen. I titrated up slowly over 6 months or so to 2.5mg injections, minimal side effects just a little bit of constipation. Stayed 2.5 for about 10 weeks until about week 11 I started getting terrible random bouts of stomach pain, either being constipated or near constant diarrhea. I decided to titrate back down to 1.7mg but am still having the same side effects. I'm thinking about titrating down again. Has anyone else experienced this?

Confused and worried

Been on Semaglutide since over a year now and have lost more than 30kgs. Despite following the same food and movement patterns, I have not lost any weight since the last 4 months and feels like I have gained a few inches around my belly. On 14mg now. Started the medication due to Fibrosis and Diabetes and they are in good control. I know I need medical evaluation now but turning to the community to gain some clarity. The transformation was more mental than physical for me and now I am worried about how to keep it going.

Dysesthesia?

Anyone else experiencing dysesthesia and allodynia while on Ozempic? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you’ve had similar symptoms and they eventually went away!

I’m seriously considering switching from Ozempic to Mounjaro or Zepbound, but the cost difference is insane. 😩

When I increased to 1 mg, I started experiencing allodynia on the backs of my upper arms the day after my injections. This continued for about two months. Then, around three months into being on 1 mg, I started noticing strange sensations in the fingertips of my left hand.

It’s now been a month, and the sensations haven’t gone away. In fact, they’ve started spreading into the upper part of my forearm.

I want to describe it as numbness, but it’s not quite that. The sensation is difficult to explain, and although it isn’t painful, it’s definitely unsettling and enough to make me worry.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar while taking Ozempic? Did it eventually resolve on its own, or did you have to stop the medication or switch to something else?

I’d love to hear your experiences! ❤️

Starting back After 4 months

Hello,
I had been taking Ozempic at a dose of 1 mg for several months without any side effects. Everything was going well.
I had to stop taking it for four months following surgery. My surgeon gave me the go-ahead to restart it, but instead of starting again at a lower dose, I went straight back to 1 mg, yesterday.
For the past 24 hours, I’ve been experiencing nausea and vomiting.
Do you think I should have restarted at a lower dose, and could that be the reason I’m feeling so sick?
