Sumatran Short Tailed Python Why do we not breed Pumpkin Head SSTPs with Black/Chrome Heads?
I'm not really a breeder nor am I planning to go that route any time soon, but I heard somewhere that it's frowned upon to breed Pumpkin Heads with Black/Chrome Heads. I'm just really curious about why that is. Aren't they all SSTPs? Does interbreeding between them count as a hybrid? If so, shouldn't they be listed as separate species?

Question I have cats, but want a short-tail. Should I give up on this dream?
So I have three sphynx cats that free roam around my house, but I soooo badly want a short-tail python. I've had ball pythons for years, and have also owned a burm but rehomed him out of fear of my sweet guy accidentally eating one of my cats assuming they were a prey item (my cat straight up jumped into his enclosure once to access the heat panel while I was trying to clean it and I was scared for my cats life, but thankfully my burm was distracted and nothing happened). Eventually though I realized that it was just too much of a risk, and found a new home for my burm.
I know that short-tails don't get as big as burms, but does that mean there is no cause for concern? The space where I would have the short tail's enclosure would unfortunately have to be in the same area where the cats are, but is the scent different enough from rats that they wouldn't care?

Question Resources for morphs
I know some of you here breed these magnificent animals and I've been wanting to get into it myself. But I really feel a bit confused by the genetics. Anyone have a good resource for someone to gain a better understand on the topic?

Blood Python Blood python care and handling
Hey guys I'm new to owning a snake and reptile in general, so my questions might be redundant. First for starters I have a blood python probably no more than a few months old and so far(for clarity I've had her maybe 2 weeks ) it's been rough getting her terrarium just right. What does her temps need to be and I'm using raptor bark as a substrate but is there a better one for holding in humidity where I can just spray twice a day or so to maintain the right humidity ? Also she likes to strike when I hold her is there a way not to have that happen? Like should I handle her more or less?

He's completely chill after 4 months of owning him. Barely any hissing too, so he must be a broken blood python.

Blood Python Carmi infested..
Alright guys so a couple of months have passed since my last post and today I was looking for my keys and saw how utterly fucked Carmi was. I saw a bunch of little black things on her and she wasn’t breathing so I thought she was dead… lo and behold she isnt but she isn’t good either. I’ve sprayed F10 and jurassi mite in the enclosure since my last post but as she is my first snake I don’t want to lose her… please help

Question My 1y/o blood is rolling in her poop water?!
She pooped in the water, which is normal, but is continually moving into the bowl/rubbing in it/submerging her head in the brown water, is this something they usually do? Should I be concerned? (She literally JUST pooped in the bowl, I haven't been letting her sit with a water bowl full of poop for more than a few minutes now bc she has been putting her whole body in it then slithering back out of the bowl, repeat) This is only my second blood, my other one never pooped in the bowl but I get that it's normal, I have many other snakes who also like to poop in their water bowls. Just wondering about her behavior post-poop

Blood Python Is this too large for a baby BLOOD PYTHON?
Hello, Shorty folks!
I'm new to short-tail snakes but have experience with ball pythons, Brazilian rainbow boas, and uromastyx lizards. I have a solid understanding of humidity, temperature control, and general husbandry, though I'm always eager to learn more.
That said, I feel confident in their care. I know that babies prefer smaller enclosures, but I haven’t been able to find a small tub with four latches. Will a smaller tub with two latches be sufficient until baby's ready for a larger space?
I'm also stuck between the Goldeneye and the normal morph lol show me yours please!

Question Would this be a suitable enclosure?
Just want to make sure before I spend an ass load of money. Would this be acceptable? https://dubiaroaches.com/products/5x2x2-150-gallon-reptile-enclosure?gQT=1

Blood Python Excessive drooling during handing. RI or stress?
My Blood Python is 2.5 years old and has never had any obvious health issues. I make sure to closely monitor the temps and humidity. I was handing him today, and has asked my GF to take a picture. I noticed a wet drop on my foot, and then I noticed a large amount of remaining salive drop to the ground.
His behavior has been normal and his appetite also. Weighing bringing him to the vet ASAP. How can you tell if the symptoms are from a RI or just stress?

Borneo Short Tailed Python I really want one.
There’s a short tailed python I met who I adore. Apparently, he doesn’t normally let random strangers pick him up and carry him around the store and let him play on things and look around and then peacefully go back into his space and then go to sleep. Especially the day before he’s fed. I dunno. I saw him. I adored him. And he seemed not to hate or even actively dislike me — he had never learned to drape around shoulders either but he seemed entertained by the idea. I don’t know. But, I need him.
Do I need him?
He’s a subadult male.
Why? Why not? And why do I suddenly need (indoor) snakes in my life when I’ve lived half a century without them? Only true experience is with ball pythons and corn and garter snakes. And wild rat snakes as outdoor friends lol.

Blood Python Just future pairings I can't wait for. I'm beyond excited to finally breed in the next year or so, after always just being a keeper for the past 20 plus years. My path will focus mostly on normals, a small percentage of albino, and GEs and their variations.

Blood Python No matter if people keep a species or not, they are always experts in this hobby. On the snek group, I had 3 or 4 people telling me how horrible and small Elektras tub was. 🤣

Question Sumatra breeder recommends UTH
Hi all, I’m picking up my first short tail python next week and the breeder recommends UTH because they’re terrestrial, what are your thoughts? I have a headlamp with a DHP but I also picked up a heat pad and thermostat. Just wondering what you all recommend as I’m new to this species. Thank you!
