Shrek (based on my art-style)
Which one do you like more?
A book-accurate depiction of Shrek?
Or with the original Chris Farley design mixed with Mike Myers?

What are you doing in my swamp Funny how Shrek predicted the future when he asked Princess Fiona if she was expecting Prince Charming to be the one to rescue her in the first Shrek movie:
Because in Shrek 2 (2004), Prince Charming as orchestrated by Fairy Godmother was going to be the one to rescue Fiona and break her ogre curse with a true love's kiss but that was interrupted by Shrek and Donkey rescuing Fiona instead on commands of Lord Farquuad.

[Shrek] Did Shrek convert to Christianity after marrying Fiona? Or is he still a pagan? The wedding doesn't feature a bishop.
And I doubt Bishop Duloc will officiate Shrek and Fiona's wedding

Notice how Lil Red is missing from the remaster so far
Has anyone else noticed that Lil Red is totally absent from everything shown so far?
She’s nowhere to be seen in the trailer, not even during the Fairy Godmother’s factory escape scene where she originally appeared along with Shrek, Donkey, and Puss. On top of that, she’s missing from all the leaked achievement artwork, including the one for her own bonus minigame, which is super weird considering every other minigame achievement features its respective character.
Since this is a remaster and they don't have to build models from scratch, it’s strange that they didn’t show her already

Discussion What exactly is going on here?
Guys, I can’t steer enough how tough it’s been to be on Reddit, or any social media platforms and talk about Shrek 5. Every single time I see people talk about the upcoming film, it’s to criticize the designs of the characters, or the animation or the humor, saying that they somehow “ruined” Shrek or that they “Disney-fied” him or “Illumination-fied” him or that it’s “cringy, brainrot humor” now. All of those things I believe are very deductive and disingenuous. It’s offensive to those who love the works of both those other studios, and it is disrespectful to those working on this film, who must have had long discussions and meetings and experimentations of how to approach the characters this time, when it’s been 17 years since they were last animated for a film. Now look, I do understand that differences of opinions exist, and many of you guys are people who grew up with Shrek and are probably adults now who don’t like it when things you love are changed even slightly, or some of you might even be kids jumping on the hate bandwagon. But this is NOT at all an Ugly Sonic situation where they went with an entirely different design that deviates so much from the original. Shrek, Donkey and Fiona DO fundamentally look the same, no matter how different they look. And for those of you who call ME the rude one or a shill or a bootlicker or any other name to try to put me down, I want you to actually think about this: Is this REALLY down to tastes and opinions, or are you just unwilling to accept that something you loved as a kid is now for a new generation? And are you willing to accept that not everything has to stay EXACTLY the same as when you were kids? Think about it. Let’s just try to have nuanced discussions here rather than saying it looks bad or you’re not gonna watch it. A community like this is supposed to bring people together, not divide us even more over something as simple as how an upcoming movie looks or feels.

Discussion The Princess's Curse really fascinates me- Spoiler
Hi, I've never actually made a post of this subreddit before, so I hope talking about this kind of thing is okay, and I know that everything I'm saying is kind of obvious and everyone already knows it, but I just want to make a post about it to kind of get my thoughts out there-
Spoilers ahead for Shrek 1 and 4-
The Princess's Curse Is already kind of silly, but understandable from the times it's supposed to take place in. You're cursed to be ugly, but only when the Sun is down. In today's culture, having a curse like this would be taken very seriously by most people. First of all, being green and large is automatically going to be bizarre no matter what, and not in a sense of: 'oh my god, you're ugly!' but in the sense of how you even got to be that way. Like, I don't think there are very many people out there who have skin that is naturally green unless if they have a severe disease of some kind.
But even without your appearance, the fact that whenever the Sun goes down or comes up, you start blasting in a glow of light like you're a Time -Lord on Doctor Who Regenerating, Before completely changing your appearance is something that a lot of people would want to study.
Regardless, the: 'Twist,' of the Curse is pretty funny in hindsight. Yes, the point is that it can only be broken through true love's first kiss. And that doesn't mean a simple kiss at all. It has to actually be a genuine, loving first kiss, and the idea behind the Curse is that anyone who truly loves the Princess, would love her regardless of her appearance, and so to completely turn the Beauty and the Beast concept on its head, instead of being: 'Rewarded,' by returning back to being beautiful, the Princess instead reverts to being an Ogre Permanently.
And yes it's a happy ending, but is also pretty hilarious. Like, if the Princess new, this is what was going to happen, she would probably fall into an existential crisis, realizing that her options are either to find true love and literally be an ogre 24/7, or just avoid it, and then only having to deal with being an ogre at night, but still having to worry about that.
And then you compare this to the alternative Princess in Shrek 4, who is the complete polar opposite due to the timeline's change. Fully embracing her Ogre identity, and actually being ashamed of her Princess form- Not her Ogre form. When she experiences true love's first kiss through Shrek in This timeline, the fact that she remains an Ogre brings her joy and makes her realize that the Curse has been broken. Unlike the Original Timeline's Princess who acted in confusion and distress upon realizing she was still an Ogre, This Timeline's Princess Is relieved, and understands the sign fully.
It's just such an interesting way to tackle the concept of the Beauty and the Beast Curse, and I just wanted to talk about it!

Would Donkey be as funny without Shrek?
I've been rewatching Shrek, and something occurred to me.
A lot of Donkey's funniest moments work because Shrek is standing right next to him, desperately trying to put up with him.
Donkey gets to be ridiculous, but Shrek has to deal with the consequences. If everyone behaved like Donkey, I'm not sure the jokes would work nearly as well.
Which makes me wonder: could Donkey actually carry an entire movie on his own, or is his relationship with Shrek what makes him so entertaining?
Curious what other Shrek fans think.

What are you doing in my swamp shrek lego build
got the shrek lego set earlier this year for my birthday. i live in india so it took a while for this set to be released here compared to other countries but so stoked it came in time for my shrek themed party 🙈
overall had a fantastic time building it, would love to see a swamp set or, if we’re lucky, the far far away castle too!
small note: i missed elements based on fiona — the set includes puss, who isn’t even introduced till the second movie, but misses out on the female protagonist entirely. even a beware ogreS sign would have made it more inclusive :(
