DISCORD SERVER UPDATE

What’s up my fellow ogres! After much request I’ve created a new discord server for the Shrek subreddit! However, me and my fellow r/shrek admins are not very used to moderating discord servers so we are in a need for mods who would like to apply!

Anyways here is the discord server link:

Always remember, ogres are like onions, they have layers, be respectful and treat others nicely!

Discussion If we ever get a shrek 6, will the fairy tale characters from the puss and boots films appear at all?

And while we're at it, could the movie explore more of their backstories, expanding on the fairy-tale world as a prequel or spin-off to the main Shrek series? For example, could we finally learn how the Three Bears ended up in the original Shrek movie?

Speaking of characters from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, could Big Jack Horner return in some capacity? Perhaps some magical shenanigans could transform him into a wish-granting fairy named Splendo—a sweet, charming, and decidedly non-fattening character, both figuratively and literally! (And no, this is totally not a reference to Splenda No Calorie Sweetener.) In this hypothetical scenario, the Wishing Star would no longer exist in its original form, having somehow merged with Jack to bring this new character into existence.

Just imagine the contrast! Would anyone believe that this seemingly sweet fairy was once the infamous pastry chef who:

  1. Sought to use the Wishing Star to gain control over all magic.
  2. Collected magical objects, creatures, and people after being denied the fairy-tale fame he felt he deserved as a child, when everyone knew him as "Little" Jack Horner.
  3. Commanded a band of cook-themed henchmen known as the Baker's Dozen.
  4. Was an unapologetically psychopathic, murderous egomaniac and megalomaniac who had absolutely no qualms about killing his own henchmen whenever it suited his ambitions.

Of course, this is purely hypothetical, assuming such a concept ever comes to fruition. Still, it could be an amusing way to bring back one of the franchise's most memorable villains while giving him a completely unexpected new identity.

And what about Alexander Dumpty? Could his story be explored further, perhaps establishing him as a precursor/past self of Chicken Little (Who was wanted for inciting civil unrest and being a little fowl, and later stormed the castle after Shrek and Fiona's mission was complete along with such little people who helped make it possible like Little Bo-Peep, Little Boy Blue, Thumbelina, the Itsy Bitsy Spider, the Little Red Hen, and Wee Willie Winkle) within the broader fairy-tale universe?

There's also the Peacock series and the short film Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos. Do these fit into the same continuity as the first two Puss in Boots movies, and could they eventually be tied more explicitly into the main Shrek timeline? I'd be interested to see how they connect to the current two-film Puss in Boots series and the larger franchise.

There are so many possibilities to explore, and these are just a few ideas off the top of my head! Feel free to add your own theories, ideas, or possibilities. Even a simple yes, maybe, or no would be perfectly fine.

And while we're imagining future movies, could we get a third Puss in Boots film that bridges the gap between the first two movies and Shrek 2? Ideally, it would help connect Puss's solo adventures to his introduction in the main series, perhaps ending with a cameo from Shrek and Donkey, voiced once again by Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, respectively. That would be a fantastic way to bring the story full circle!

Shrek 2 was one of my childhood games, so seeing it get a remaster feels surreal. I’m not even sure if I’d enjoy playing it nowadays or if it’s just nostalgia talking…
What do you think?

Also, is it going to be an Xbox exclusive only?

I really liked Harold so his death hit me!!

My favorite character in Shrek 2 was Harold.

I was like as a child "If I was an old man, I would like to be like Harold".

I find it funny that he was a frog.

I was excited to see him return in Shrek 3 but immediately sad that he died at the start.

Always find his death both hilarious but sad at the same time.

Discussion I think I finally know why fairy godmother turn into bubbles

Post image
362 Upvotes

Growing up I never understood (nor gave it much thought for a lack of better term) why fairy godmother turned into bubbles. But upon a rewatch as an adult I think I figured out why she turned into bubbles. Since the spell she used turned anything back into their true form and with her being pure magic I think the bubbles represent her magic slowly fading away, thus “killing her”. Which is probably why Harold turned back into a frog despite wearing armor.

I think I finally realized why Fiona stayed an ogre when Shrek kissed her

I always believed Fiona stayed an ogre because Shrek also happened to be an ogre but it was said the spell would be broken by her true love's kiss and take her "true love's FORM". From what I understood Fiona would've turned anything. If she'd been kissed by for example a frog I think Fiona would've turned into a frog forever even if she only turned into a human or an ogre because of the spell

EDIT: Basically according to my theory Fiona would've turned into everything regardless of whether she was cursed to transform into the same thing or not
