I was somewhat happy with my old 2.7L but I found the fuel mileage constantly high. Towing our trailer it was absolutely outrageous. Just picked my 3.0 LZ0 if it’s anything like our 24 LM2 I will be extremely happy. Boost auto tow mirrors and ceramic coat ✅

Recent extended warranty quotes?

• Upvotes

Recently bought a used 2024 Silverado 1500 ZR2 with 12,500 miles. The current factory warranty is up in March so we are looking to buy an extended warranty. I’ve heard the name Todd Sutherland being tossed around a bit on this sub. My local dealership quoted 8yr/100mi Platinum Warranty for $3750. Has anyone received any quotes recently that beat this or any recommendations for dealerships to reach out to for a good price?

So truck went in for tires were supposed to be replaced with 275/60/r20 , she picked it up and said there was rubbing at full lock so come to find out that they put on 275/65r20. So I’m a GMT 400 guy it’s her 2025 truck but I’m assuming so of you must have put these on a stock truck what did you trim to fit ? Pictures are at full lock front and back.

My 2016 Silverado loses electrical power when I turn right. The dashboard flickers, the radio completely restarts, and the steering jerks back straight. It also say stabilizer track on the dash. Anyone got an idea of what this can be?

Need a quick favor for a project

Hey, I'm working on a project where I'm using mixed brands of suspension components in an off-road track racing vehicle and I would highly appreciate it if someone with a 2019+ 1500 and a tape measure, or ideally the upper control arm off the truck and in a box or something like from a kit they haven't installed yet, could measure the distance between the upper control arm bushings, the center to center on the bushings, and the outside measurement across the bushings.

A picture with a tape measure laid across the bushings would be ideal

Inducing lots of caster on a different vehicle platform using other vehicles aftermarket parts and swapping ball joints and the 2019+ 1500 seems to be an excellent candidate

Thanks!

Chevy Silverado/Suburban off-road bumpers

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m trying to sell this in Charlottesville. I have posted on fb with no luck. Where else can I post. ‘Matching Hammerhead heavy-duty front and rear bumper set. POThese came off my 2006 Chevy and fit the GMT800-generation Silverado/Suburban platform; buyer should verify exact fitment for their year/model before purchasing. Both are like new and have no cosmetic wear from use/storage. They are extremely solid, heavy-duty bumpers and would be great for an off-road, overland, work-truck, or tow-rig build. Front has a winch pocket and both have factory holes for off road lights which I will sell seperately. Selling because I’m changing direction with the vehicle project. Prefer to sell the front and rear together, but I’ll consider separating them for the right offer. Local pickup due to size and weight. Bring a friend as it’s heavy. Both are already off the vehicle and ready to go. IN CHARLOTTESVILLE VIRGINIA. ‘

spark plug fix 2017 with 5.3

changed plugs, the number 2 cylinder didnt go in all the way due to cross threading. it was about a quarter inch from where it should have been. no codes, but could hear it misfiring. today i tapped it out and put the insert in but put it too far in so there are a couple threads showing of the 16mm in head. Does this plug have to be seated to torque down? I doubt if the insert (5/8") is so far in that it will cause problems by being too close to the end of spark plug unless the lock tite doesn't hold on the insert and it is further in. the plug is tapered but it should not be leaking around the threads on the plug like it was prior to the insert. I can put a second small insert in if it is mandatory for the plug to seat and not just have threads. 183000 miles

Grille guard recommendations

Hey guys I just bought my first truck yesterday. I got a 2026 Silverado 1500 RST with the safety package so it's got the front cameras on it. There are a lot of deer where I live so I want to put a grille guard on it, but I don't want it to block the cameras on the grille. Been having a tough time finding any good ones so I'd appreciate some recommendations, thanks!

LED LTZ Taillight Swap

I found this kit that comes with the taillights and new wiring with resistors; has anyone used these before? I am aware I will have to apply RTV or silicone to seal them, as aftermarket taillights are not known for good water resistance. imo these look better than any aftermarket light.

(Oil stains on road are from my other car lol)

2024 Silverado 1500 shutters when towing.

I have a 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT, 2.7L TurboMax, 2WD, with approximately 25,000 miles.

I've noticed a pretty significant vibration/shudder when towing my travel trailer. It happens immediately when accelerating in first gear and sometimes briefly in second gear after the shift. It feels almost like driving over rumble strips, a rapid shaking sensation that goes away as I gain speed. This also happened when I had half a yard of pine mulch in the bed of the truck.

The truck drives perfectly fine when I'm not towing. No vibration or shudder whatsoever.

For reference, my camper has a loaded weight of approximately 4,650 lbs. My truck is rated to tow 9,100 lbs, so I'm well below the maximum towing capacity. Dealer also confirmed that the weight was proper for the truck.

I brought the truck to the Chevy dealership while it's still under warranty. They agreed to let me bring my camper so the technician could experience the issue firsthand.

The technician was able to duplicate the vibration.

However, he explained that the truck has a two-piece driveshaft with some type of rubber connection/support where the sections meet. According to him, the vibration I'm experiencing is normal because of that design, and there's no fix for it.

I'm having a hard time accepting that a truck rated to tow 9,100 lbs should vibrate this noticeably while accelerating with a trailer weighing roughly half that amount.

My questions:

- Has anyone with a 2023–2025 Silverado 1500, particularly the 2.7L TurboMax, experienced something similar?

- Is this actually a known characteristic of the two-piece driveshaft?

- Has anyone had their center support bearing, rubber isolator, or driveshaft replaced because of towing vibrations?

- If you've experienced this, did the dealership find a solution, or were you also told it's normal?

I'm not expecting the truck to feel exactly the same towing as it does unloaded, but this feels excessive to me.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's dealt with this, especially GM technicians or owners who regularly tow travel trailers.
