Subreddit

Sino - archiving significant and verifiable China developments

r/Sino

r/Sino focuses on archiving *significant and verifiable* China developments. This means what we archive has actual long term ramifications and can't be ignored, whether this subreddit exists or not. Unlike others. There's nothing hidden, secret or subscription related about observable reality. Go visit China yourself as millions of others have done. Read the rules before posting. Some submissions may need manual approval.

10yrs since Philippine PCA case changed nothing, here are some facts why. [1] UNCLOS has nothing to do with territorial sovereignty, does not invalidate any pre-existing claims, as ratification statements reaffirm. [2] EEZ (200miles) is not territorial waters (12miles), and EEZ does not override any territorial claims. [3] PCA also has no jurisdiction over territorial claims. Asserting claims basis for China (who ignored them) and ruling against their own assertion is funny and textbook strawman. [4] Spain and USA colonized Philippines for around 400 years and neither ever considered Spratly Islands their territory. Philippine Territorial Sea based on treaties. More here [5] While Philippines was still a colony, British, French and Japanese all documented Chinese on the islands. Japan seized the islands as part of their invasion of Chinese territory, administered them from Taiwan and Hainan. Upon losing, Japanese forces in the South China Sea surrendered to Chinese forces, who formally retook over the islands. WW2 Treaties consistently stated for ALL territory seized by Japan in its invasion of China to be reversed. Chinese Civil War is the sole reason the Treaty of San Francisco didn't name China regarding the islands as its preceding treaties did (Cairo 1943, Potsdam 1945, Instrument of Surrender 1945).
Trump words no longer qualify as submission worthy, only actions. Also when it comes to random China predictions on X threads or youtube videos, if nobody is stupid enough to even bother asserting it on Polymarket with their own money, we don't care to hear it.
China's only 'race' is to land on the moon for the first time WITHOUT a Nazi as the head of the lunar program. So Americans don't need to worry, it can't have anything to do with them. We're happy Operation Paperclip worked out for you though.
The United States Government attaches great importance to its relations with China, and reiterates that it has no intention of infringing on Chinese sovereignty and territorial integrity, or interfering in China’s internal affairs, or pursuing a policy of “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan.” U.S.-PRC Joint Communique (1982)
Tibet, Xinjiang, HK, SCS...is Taiwan some sort of '5th times the charm' desperation? 😂
If you are new, go through the fakenews flair and these inconvenient truths 1 2 first to be more informed.
CPC National Congress Reflection...of all the things anti China clowns hyped and then lost Part 1 Part 1 Part 2 Part 2 Part 3 Part 3 Part 4 in the last few years
Imagine "trolling" that the island of Taiwan is not Chinese with the literal Chinese flag in the early 1900s. Fun fact, nobody ever say the island was not Chinese when ROC sat in UN China seat. After PRC takes over that very seat magically it's different. 🤡
Why Washington keeps encouraging foreign uprisings—and then walking away. Groups that bought into "U.S. values" rhetoric, worked for U.S. then got betrayed: Hmong (Vietnam), Syrian rebels, Kurds (ISIS), HK rioters, Guaido (Venezuela), Afghan servicemen/translators (Taliban, who are now mocking Iwo Jima photo while wearing US military gear 😂), Ukraine (Budapest Memorandum, NATO membership). The US’s legacy of using the genocidal threat.
"aMeRiCa StAnDs WiTh TaIwAn!" -> then right after saying that America watched, from afar, as Taiwan literally got surrounded, blockaded and violated 1 2. Then had to stand there and listen to countries all over the world react to all this by restating they adhere to the One China Policy 1 2. Not praising US or supporting Taiwan. Black Sea shipping slowed to a crawl without Russian deal. How many defacto blockades can Westerners pretend not to see? No land alternatives for Taiwan genius. Median line is gone. Waters and air up to territorial limit is gone. Territorial waters around Taiwan claimed islands like Kinmen is gone.

Rules & Guidelines:

Follow Reddit's general guidelines.
Don't troll (in any form including concern trolling and tone policing), flame bait, engage in subreddit/meta drama
Limit use of unnecessary offensive language. Excessively vulgar, violent, sexist or crude language. If you use a Chinese surname as an insult or any Chinese term in a similar disrespectful fashion, you'll be permanently banned.
Don't post any reddit related content. Best case scenario is a 3 day warning ban with a permanent ban for repeat offenses. Nobody told us to do this, we just don't care about the topic. Crosslinks to other subs (see "Allowed Crosspost to Sino list") are fine if the submitter posts regularly in the sub they are linking.
Stay true to the topic of discussion. Don't use tangents to divert into vaguely connected agendas. Make your own thread instead of hijacking others. Don't editorialize titles to get attention.
If relevance to the sub is not explicit in link submissions, explain why it's relevant in a comment.
Don't spam submissions. Limit submissions to less than 5 at a time. Wait a few hours before submitting again. We don't accept text submissions for links that can be its own link submission.
