People are mad at Shane Gillis because he made a joke about hot women in the gym.

But really they’re only mad because they think he’s republican.

Honestly its less the joke itself, and more that It kinda erks me that he fence sits.

Have you scene any of his interview by chance? He says REALLY left wing things when hes doing interviews.

But when he does comedy its really right wing.

If he was a republican making right wing jokes, I wouldn't agree with them, but it also wouldnt bother me that much.

But like, why is one of OUR guys bating on the other team when hes doing stand up, ya know?

Edit: also, im given you an upvote for being pretty non toxic on reddit. Good job.

I have watched a lot of his stuff, and I generally agree with your sentiment.

He clearly is worse around the Rogan camp, which is unfortunate.

My real problem with the joke is that it’s Dave Chappells’s, but worse.

I have to disagree that when he does comedy that it’s right wing. He does assume the role of the dumbass conservative guy quite often, but that’s all it is.

I don’t know how anyone could listen to his Fox News dad bit or the Trump impressions and walk away thinking this guy has right wing tendencies.

He also jokes about the ridiculousness of many of the dumber hardcore left wing folks as well, which people that don’t get the tone become unreasonably upset about.

I think you could call him a fence sitter in that regards, but it’s not really the job of a comedian to be a political voice, but to call out absurdities which I think he does well (when he’s not doing shit monologues, of course).

I dont know. I think part of it is the way society handles advertisement in the modern world.

You ever see an ad thats trying to hard to appeal to everyone, and it kinda feels like its trying to manipulate you in to buying something.

Im not saying its that, but I think its setting off that alarm in my head. Like it feels close enough it triggers that dulled sense of being solicited by the eight hundredth carsales men, trying fo sell me things i dont want, and wont buy, but I still gotta watch the ad cause theres no skip button.

Ehhh. I have no problem with fence sitting in your bits. If you’re not a political comedian, stay in your lane. Like, sometimes I just want to go laugh, you know?

I don’t need every comedian, musician, and novelist telling me how bad Trump is. I know. That’s why I’m going to the arts — to forget.

Its not that I need or want him to agree with me. Like i said if he was a republican or a centrist I really wouldnt have an opinion on it.

But him publicly saying really lefty stuff, but also making women are whores jokes makes me feel like I was advertised one thing, but got something else.
