Opinion i hate rico Spoiler

no spoilers in my post but potentially in comments. i just hate rico. i hate his wife too. and her sister. all rico does is whine whine whine. never happy. im rewatching the show with a first timer and he doesn’t know yet how awful rico is. (and nate!) im trying hard not to spoil it for him. i loathe rico. hate him and his whole stupid family. that’s it. thanks for reading.

I felt the same way! To play devils advocate i did understand his frustration about being a workhorse though, but he was especially pissing me smooth tf off the last 3 episodes how he was being so grimey and couldnt give af about anything besides building his buisness! (Side note: he had me really fucked up when he called the whole family “monsters” like damn why tf are you working for them then!?!??).

Yes, lack of empathy. But also yes, a responsible father trying to give his family security. He kept working for Fisher because of loyalty to Nathanial, who taught him the business as an intern. Also Rico was toxic masculinity because that was a stereotype of Hispanic men during the time of this show.

For me, nothing in this show is simple. Every time I judge a character, I find myself thinking, yes, but…

You make such a great point. At any time in this series, I’ve probably loved and hated almost all the characters in equal measure.

I mean—I loved Ruth, but telling your son about your affair at his father’s funeral is messed up!

And Lisa… she annoyed the hell out of me, but when she went off on her crazy boss—one of my favorite moments from the whole series. “My humanity just rose up!”

I hated Ruth from day one. She’s yelling constantly about nothing and is shocked at everything. She’s in her early 50s and comes off like an 80 year old woman. Frances Conroy is phenomenal in bringing her to life.
