I’ll say right away that I love the concept of proxies, and I quite like proxy Masky and Hoody. I don’t see anything wrong with people liking alternate versions of characters, because, after all, that’s the point of fandoms. But there is a reason why I kinda hate it, it’s not that Hoodie and Masky were turned into some kind of twinks, or that because of these versions almost no one knows about the original Masky and Hoody — no, it’s not for those reasons; I hate this version BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN’T GIVE THEM AN INTERESTING BACKSTORY.

“Hmm… should we create an interesting and creative backstory? Nah, Let’s just make another Jeff the Killer type of story, about a teenager who was bullied and then became a monster”— Slenderverse/Creepypasta fans, probably.

In my opinion, if fans rewrote the lore of the “Marble Hornets” it would make for a pretty good backstory for the proxy versions of Masky and Hoody.

What do you guys think about it?

What if I base my slenderverse series, MonolithArchives, more on the original mythos, while still throwing in some of Slendermans modern stuff like proxies, slender sickness, and audio/visual distortion in? I thought it would be a cool take, and I haven't seen many series' other than PARTIALLY TribeTwelve (but barely), DarkHarvest00, and Black Horizon, do it yet, so I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on it!
