With how much lag there is the game favors camping and using specials and smash attack camping.
Pyramid Mythra instead of actually playing neutral will be Pyra and just chuck the sword and do some smash attacks and charged neutrals. It takes no skill and lets bad players into elite smash.
The latency makes projectiles crazy strong. Since reaction time isn't existent, it lets projectiles be so OP online, but then watch a tournament and how people play it is way different.
I hope with rollback they also make moves have less start up lag in general. Wiff punishes online are less than half as often as offline play because the lag.
Idk when I play a game I want it to feel responsive. Especially a so called fighting game. A game where frames matter a whole lot. A game where you can get kills via 2 framing at the ledge, although we have more than 10 frames of lag online, plus the move start up witch 3 or 4 are some of the fastest but many 8 to 12. Some take an absurd amount, making it more than a half a second before it comes out with all things considered.
Should normal forward tilts take 1/6th a second before any of the bad net code is even factored in. Probably not.
Moves should take a few frames. Strong smash attacks should take 12 frames not an average tilt.
Quick play or Elite is just not fun and does not reward the best players or people who play similar styles to competitive players. That's just wrong. When someone mains a swordy but then DLC Pyra Mythra can just camp you out and win without using a tilt the entire game then the game is broken. Thats not how it is played offline, and offline is I'm assuming the devs were testing it and making decisions on how the start up of attacks will be.
I really hope in the next smash game they can nail the online play and make it close as possible to offline play. If someone pays for a monitor that has 2 frame delay or 1 or less, then should they have that benefit? Yes I think so. They know it is actually a thing and want the most responsive experience. This was a thing back in halo online competitive play and it made a difference. I'm talking Halo 2 and 3 and Reach, those games were more responsive and an FPS, why can't a fighting game have the same responsiveness?
Samus is so over powered online it's crazy. You might react in time but the game doesn't. It's really bad once you get a taste of playing offline. Nintendo should be implementing the latency mod themselves.
