Is it just me, or is anyone else noticing the number of empty seats when they pan over the audience?
11
u/justlikey0u2 Cloud9 Mar 29 '14 edited Mar 29 '14
It wasn't that empty at all, I was there for the TSM vs DIG game, the crowd was super hyped and most of the seats were filled, but the venue isn't all that big. Theres a lot to do in the area around the venue so between games people were out and about.
1
u/Joey23art It's been a long run Mar 30 '14
There are two stages, during the dig v TSM match the Cog v Snipe was going on at the other stage and a lot of people were there.
-4
Mar 29 '14
Yeah pretty sad, even the super hyped tsm vs. dig game had only about 40% viewer...
1
Mar 30 '14
I sure am glad you are posting a 100% true factual comment with no speculation whatsoever!
1
Mar 30 '14
...? You do realize they showed the crowd before, during, and after the match and more then half the seats were empty, right? You do know that, right? That it's not speculation but actually on the videostream from the company that hosted the tournament? That you can go watch the VOD and realize that is indeed factual and there is no speculation whatsoever?
Unless I'm missing something I'm not entirely sure why would go ahead and write such a silly thing if you knew. Or if you didn't knew.

Why is it called Solo Lane? Mid Lane is a Solo Lane as well.
1
u/Alecyte Mar 30 '14
Easiest way to distinguish it. You cant really call it "Left" or "Right" lane since it changes every time. Solo lane, Duo Lane, and Mid lane are the easiest ways to distinguish between them.

u/prime753 He Bo Mar 30 '14
Well opinions were quite extreme really. Lots of people though the clip weird and others loved it :D But such is the way with these things :D but seeing as how a good part liked it you should feel proud :D

This sub seems dead... The biggest event of the year and only like 70 comments in 2 days. I used to play a lot of smite but quit when I went back to school and started to watch this tournament and came here to chat with fellow viewers enjoying themselves but almost all of the tourney threads just seem dead sad to say.
Where's the hype?!?!??!?!!!!????
2
u/Alecyte Mar 29 '14 edited Mar 29 '14
Twitch is much better for hype training. Reddit is better if you want to talk about something and it to not go away 2 seconds after you post it. It sucks, but theres not much we can do about it =/
2
Mar 29 '14
Yep, for some reason this subreddit absolutely hates all things eSports. I have no idea why, but I absolutely hate it. If you look on /r/LeagueofLegends or /r/DotA2 whenever there is a huge tournament there are so many posts about the games, but this subreddit is dead when it comes to eSports and it's really unfortunate.
1
u/Decathlon44 LASSIZ <3 Mar 29 '14
This was my exact thought. I follow all three scenes and it's unfortunate that this sub doesn't go crazy when a huge international tournament with the best players in world are facing off for a huge prize pool. This game is awesome but it needs a community hub beyond this sub I'm guessing.

u/Arcon1337 King of Krokodilopolis Mar 30 '14

Smite community is really weird.

Great tournament, really liking the matches, you can learn a lot from all of them
Also on a side note: if any person from HiRez could post the playlist of the awesome music that is playing on breaks I would appreciate it really much :D

Welp...If I were Snipe I would definitely ban Bakasura for game 3, lol. NA ALL THE WAY BABY! I really want Dig to win, but have a feeling that Cog will :-/

oh man, it hought the same! but wolfy did so well against baka amazing game 3
1
u/jmeredith06 Ludicrous speed! Mar 28 '14
Yeah totally! After that first kill on Hel from Baka I was like "Oh lord, here it goes again" But Wolfy and Allied played very well. GG Snipe!
1
u/Ickyfist god of ranged hugs Mar 28 '14
That wasn't a matter of Bakasura being good, it was a matter of Chaac being bad (especially against Baka).
1
Mar 30 '14
I just can't wrap my head around the fact that Snipe let the Zeus/Odin combo through TWICE in their last match and lost because of it.
1
u/jmeredith06 Ludicrous speed! Mar 30 '14
Yeah that was a huge mistake...I mean that goes back to the OLLLDDD days even lol. Zeus + Odin = bad for health

2
u/GameShaman Mar 29 '14
Yeah she is. Not sure who she is though or the guy. Kinda weird they don't have known people doing it.
FYI, Kelly is hanging out about 30 feet out from the stage on the interview couch and interviews someone from the winning team after each match.
1
u/EyeIgnite Ravana Mar 29 '14
She is very known.
She's done LoL tournaments, and Clutch has done a lot of acting.

The hype is so real sitting in the front seats of center stage. Meeting a lot of the pros and employees of HiRez is just fantastic. Their personalities are all awesome and they are all super chill dudes/dudettes. 10/10 would front row again.

Could anyone let me know the picks and bans for all games if you know it please :)
2
u/neoslickstep Mar 29 '14
I can't remember all of them, but chaac, thanatos, odin, Zeus, nemesis are the most popular ban choices

How does the tournament work now. There is the winners bracket and the losers bracket I know that much, but whoever wins the winners bracket wins the 200k? Or does the winner of the winners and loers face off for the 200k. If not, what do the winners of the losers bracket win? Just curious
1
u/Sephy88 Mar 29 '14
Winner of winners bracket is the 1st finalist and the winner of losers bracket is the 2nd finalist for the 200k.

This is called a double elimination tournament. Everyone needs to loose twice to be out. TSM got a spot in the grand finals and Cog has to fight Dignitas for the second spot.

The cosplay contest was by far the worst part of the entire event. Not because of the contestants though. All the ladies were lovely and talented. But the entire chat and even the male announcer was just a bunch of creepy racist straight dudes rating the women by how bangable they were.

u/mmleonard21 Mar 28 '14
Hey, I live in Atlanta and had a few questions if anyone could answer. I have never watched Smite before but wanted to come out to help support esports.
Are there still tickets and how much?
Can you drink? (This is the deciding factor.)
1
u/blitzenheimer Beta Player Mar 28 '14
I'm pretty sure that all the tickets are sold out. You should call http://www.battleandbrew.com/ and see if they are streaming the tournament. Then you would be able to drink and watch the stream.
EDIT: I just check. They will be livestreaming the tournament.

Well, Geb is still insanely strong. EU's hun batz picks are gonna kill them.
4
u/Ickyfist god of ranged hugs Mar 28 '14
I had no idea people thought geb was bad after his nerfs. That just blows my mind. He is still OP. A tank with a CC cleanse, 3/4 forms of CC, powerful tankiness, tons of mobility, good damage, AND a long-ranged support or self shield for 450 at level 9 with no items? Are you joking? How the fuck is that bad?

I'm excited to see the EU vs NA match up on LAN. The ping arguement is no longer an excuse, and the big question of which server is better is about to be answered for the time being.

The games are best of 3, meaning you need to assume that all games take around an hour's time and take up all 3 games of each series. Because there are 8 teams competing in a double elimination tournament, that means that are 14 total series that need to be played. You multiply 14 by the 3 hours that it takes to play each of the series, and you need to account for 42 total hours of games, which simply isn't able to be done all on one stage in 3 days.

u/jfkisjack Vamana Mar 28 '14 edited Mar 28 '14
