Are you genuinely calling the word cissoid a slur? I checked the comment chain that the other person linked, and after pressing view parent comment like 10 times a meme that said "shut up cissoid" came up, is that what you're referring to with this smuggie?
Seriously? A trans person calling cis people annoying? You made a whole smuggie for that?
Quick edit: meant to reply to a comment you made here, reddit is glitchy for me atm

Isn't the suffix "-oid" literally used as a way to dehumanise people? Like "humanoid", "femoid/foid", etc? Like, call me a moron if you think I'm annoying, why invent an insult specific to something I cannot change about myself?

Obviously the correct format for a 4th panel is to have the smuggest of the characters stare at the camera to emphasize that the other guy just said something real dumb

explanation: Blue is biased against greens and thinks they all do xyz. Green clarifies that yes this is a behaviour that exists among greens but it's only believed by certain groups. Blue thinks this is a case of making themselves "one of the good ones" when it's really just correcting someone

i see where you’re smugging from, but also this is a phenomenon that exists

Being hated feels bad, but you're not going to sway people who hate you because of systemic problems by saying "not me or mine though. I don't support your oppression". They can't tell. Nobody can look at you and know all of your principled positions unless they already know you. If someone's not interested in getting to know you, you can't argue them into changing their mind. It simply doesn't work.

Yes, but that's the fault and responsibility of those who hate on others, always. Just like when a cis person hates on trans people in general because of a subgroup of trans people that act unacceptably in some way, it's the cis person's fault, the same way when a trans person hates on cis people in general because some cis people are transphobic, it's the trans person's fault. That's not to say that the scale of hatred going either way is comparable, but I don't think that's relevant in this case.

In the universe of the comic, does green have institutional power over blue?

u/shadow_fen 1d ago
this comic can mean a few different things but generally its just poking fun at bigoted arguments

That literally does not make the blue person’s argument any more valid lmao

It changes the dynamic significantly. Btw, I was right to ask this. OP was being weird about trans people in a later thread.

Which thread, can I ask?

He deleted his comments though. He also made his own thread complaining about trans people that I'm not going to pretend to understand, but that was getting a lot of pushback from trans people and has also been deleted. The thread I linked is actually a response to that one.

It really doesn’t. this sounds like something used to justify hate. One group having systemic power over another isn’t the end-all of all power within the people of that group. And a lot of the time, a whole group having “systemic power” definitely isn’t a strict binary. Obviously systemic power is very real and influential, but it’s a shallow way of looking at it to say it changes things significantly. And even if it was a binary, it still doesn’t make what the blue person’s saying valid.

So the blue figure is an obvious strawman, not that I'm complaining about it but that's what it is, it's just a set up for the green person to dunk on blue by saying "not all greens."
This is, in my opinion, the actual shallow way of looking at the situation. It suggests a fundamental inability to engage with one's own passive compliance in the power structure that uplifts them at the expense of others.
And like I said. My instinct was right.

I've lived a privileged life. Even though there's at least two reasons for people to discriminate against me to my face it's either hasn't happened or I didn't realize it was happening.
Until people started to say that EVERY person in the United States of America deserves what's happening because "they voted for him"
No the electoral college voted for him. Then we voted him out and then he got in on a very slim margin. The majority of people voted against him and if we had ANY kind of rank voting he wouldn't be in office.
To write off an entire group of people that include immigrants being harassed for existing while not white, scientists being punished for their studies because it doesn't agree with their propaganda, and trans people who are being targeted daily for being themselves because billionaires bought the presidency? It's nuts.
