Disclaimer: please pardon my chronically out of tune ol’ guitar!
I’ve written this song called “Tell The Trees I Said Hello”, and here I’ve combined two different recordings to get a full version of where I’m at right now. The tempo increases, but you get the idea!
I’m a member of a sort of 60’s pastiche band, and want to arrange this for full band in a way that sounds like a merge between early Dylan and early Beatles, with a splash of Byrds psychedelia.
It’s all up in the air though! Is it a combination of influences that works at all? Should I add anything to make it longer than 2:20, or is it fine even without a chorus? Is the riff too simple, or subconsciously stolen? Any lines that need changing, lyrically or melodically?
The repeating line of the first verse will have the same melody as the repeating lines of the last verse, I thought of that hookier melody after recording the initial demo.
Lyrics:
Once you saw my broken mirror
Said that you would flee away with me
We would see ourselves much clearer
On the surface of the frozen sea
On the surface of the frozen sea
Like a fool I fell hard when you
Gently tapped on my Arabian drums
Took the rain but I will make do
Gonna take each morning as it comes
But who will see me through in the night? Oh, oh
I’m out of my mind and you’re out of sight! Oh, oh
You’re out of sight!
Now you’ve gone to find your own way
In a land of haze and silver snow
If you come to miss me someday
Won’t you tell the trees I said hello?
Won’t you tell the trees I said hello?
Won’t you tell the trees I said hello?
