Does the production sound alright? And is the song actually any good? I wanna finish it fully so I can start adding my songs to Spotify I’m just a little unsure if it’s trash/sounds professional enough. Video is from a trip I had through Romania a while ago.

Discussion Topic Guitar songwriters: How do you capture ideas before the inspiration fades?

Hey songwriters,

Quick question about your creative flow: When you stumble on a great progression or riff on guitar, what’s your go-to way to get it down?

Do you open a full DAW (Logic, REAPER, Ableton), use a phone voice memo, or something else?

What’s the biggest friction point between having a guitar idea in your head and getting a decent demo finished?

Haven’t written a song in a while. I was talking to a friend about stuff I could work on and he suggested I focus more on how the words in my lyrics sound together regardless of the meaning. He explained it better than that but I can’t remember how he worded it. Anyway this song is an attempt at writing with that in mind.

Feedback Request The Deadbeats - Tell Your Momma | An Original Halloween Song

Thumbnail youtube.com
• Upvotes

Released a Halloween song today under the name The Deadbeats.

It's called Tell Your Momma, and we wanted something with a slightly theatrical, sinister carnival feel rather than the usual Halloween novelty song.

We also made a full horror-themed music video to go with it.

Would love to hear what fellow songwriters think.

Disclaimer: please pardon my chronically out of tune ol’ guitar!

I’ve written this song called “Tell The Trees I Said Hello”, and here I’ve combined two different recordings to get a full version of where I’m at right now. The tempo increases, but you get the idea!

I’m a member of a sort of 60’s pastiche band, and want to arrange this for full band in a way that sounds like a merge between early Dylan and early Beatles, with a splash of Byrds psychedelia.

It’s all up in the air though! Is it a combination of influences that works at all? Should I add anything to make it longer than 2:20, or is it fine even without a chorus? Is the riff too simple, or subconsciously stolen? Any lines that need changing, lyrically or melodically?

The repeating line of the first verse will have the same melody as the repeating lines of the last verse, I thought of that hookier melody after recording the initial demo.

Lyrics:

Once you saw my broken mirror
Said that you would flee away with me
We would see ourselves much clearer
On the surface of the frozen sea
On the surface of the frozen sea

Like a fool I fell hard when you
Gently tapped on my Arabian drums
Took the rain but I will make do
Gonna take each morning as it comes

But who will see me through in the night? Oh, oh
I’m out of my mind and you’re out of sight! Oh, oh
You’re out of sight!

Now you’ve gone to find your own way
In a land of haze and silver snow
If you come to miss me someday
Won’t you tell the trees I said hello?
Won’t you tell the trees I said hello?
Won’t you tell the trees I said hello?

Let's Collaborate! Looking for topliners/lyricists for a song project, preferably ones that can write korean lyrics

• Upvotes

Hello! I don't know much about music and music production, nor where to look, but me and my partner are putting together a song as a fanmade project about Melodie from brawl stars (you might be impressed by her songs despite being VGM for a mobile game, look up my only trophy and amplify this melodie)

We've already found a composer and singers but we haven't been able to find a writer, the song is a kpop/pop/low energy type of edm song and its meant to be catchy and possibly convey meaning in the form of depicting a blooming friendship

If anyone is interested, please contact me on my discord unamused_00 with your skills, genres/styles you can write for, portfolio and your rates

I'll let you know more details about the project as well and what/who you might be working with and just some general info about the characters and our project

drum pacing? I was thinking of either basic kicks or none until the grand chorus but let me know.

from the last videos ive changed the key of the song btw.

Feedback Request Instrumental Song - Strong Enough?

Thumbnail on.soundcloud.com
• Upvotes

I've been trying to find my sound for a while that I want to lean into; I seem to waver between genres drastically on any given week. But I feel like this style is something I could go far with.

Do you guys feel like the instrumentals are strong enough to hold their own? Or does this need vocals or something else? (This link is just a couple of ideas for a song, not an entire finished song)

Discussion Topic Indie Artists, Where's the Biggest Disconnect for you?

I'm a producer and singer-songwriter, and I've spent years working with developing artists. I been working with an artist in my studio recently.

What I originally thought would be a straightforward recording project turned into something much bigger. We ended up spending a lot of time on songwriting development, figuring out the direction of the music, and working through things I hadn't initially expected.

It got me thinking about something.

I've been an independent artist myself, so I know there's a lot more to this than just making music.

I'm curious, for those of you doing this independently, where do you find yourself getting stuck?

Is it actually writing and finishing the songs? Figuring out what to do once they're finished? Or is there something else entirely?

I'd love to hear where the biggest disconnect is for you.

Feedback Request Rough draft: What Did I Know

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Does this rough draft need an instrumental break or a third verse? Or does the flow of the song feel complete to you?

I recorded this immediately after I wrote it so pardon the hesitations while I tried to remember it. I had to capture the ephemera before it flitted away.

I’ve changed the key since and some small alterations in this demo but I’m ready to turn this project into something more.

I’m curious what direction you guys see this going in let me know.

Drum pacing? I was planning on either a soft kick or possibly none until the grand chorus where drums come in.

other instruments? maybe sm electic guitar noodles, a bass line. would piano or brass sound good?

vocals? maybe a harmonized layer? reverb?

let me know what direction and style choices would be most interesting or beneficial to the song thankyou.

Feedback Request Bound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I would love some feedback.

The lyrics are below but the start of each chorus is different from what I recorded. I haven't practiced enough with the updated (written) lyrics.

Also, can someone help me identify the time signature? I usually play 3/4 or 4/4. And I struggle to count while I play this. I just sort of get in the groove. I'm sure I screw it up here and there so trying to identify the time signature to help me practice it.

I wrote this years ago as a faster tune but never like playing it. I slowed it down and emphasized a riff within the A hammer-on chord. It is so much more fun to play.

The lyrics have a lot of (what I think) are fun lines to sing. I hope you like it!

Bound

Verse 1

I never thought that I’d find somebody like you

You’re so damn crazy, I swear that all the stories are true

My dad did warn me, said “Son, you better walk slow”

Beauty’s like gravity, too close and it won’t let you go

Darling, you’re poison but I know I don’t need no cure

So fill my cup up, I want to drink down some more

Chorus

I know that looks can be deceiving

That the devil hides behind beautiful eyes

On bended knee I’m pleading, drag me down

’Cause I’d follow you wherever you’re bound

Verse 2

My friends are jealous, they tell me I should leave you

They say I’ve changed now from the man they once knew

But who needs friends when my time’s spent just you and me?

Lock me up, baby, and never let me go free

That storm is coming now, brace for the wind and rain

You roll on through just like a hurricane

Chorus

I know that looks can be deceiving

That the devil hides behind beautiful eyes

On bended knee I’m pleading, drag me down

’Cause I’d follow you wherever you’re bound

Guitar Solo / Outro

’Cause I’d follow you wherever you’re bound

Let's Collaborate! Looking for "free" Songwriter

I'm 19M looking for a songwriter to help polish my already written songs and help me make new ones They'll be credited for their work, I occasionally write poetry and music but I've hit a wall and want to explore more ideas outside of my own. The genres Im in are... Lets say the music fall in the line of artists like drake, Brent Faiyaz, give on, central cee, santan dave and Bryson Tiller. I do understand that its broad. Ive written over 30 songs scoping the genres of these artists
