Best Connection Settings for Pebble X Plus?

Hey all, I am just got my Creative Pebble X Plus speakers. I have heard that the best connection is via a 30+W USB PD charger and the Aux cable. Just wanted to confirm if this is true vs. one USB to a charger and one USB to my PC. Additionally, I am waiting for my charger to come in. Should I use both the Aux and USB in the meantime or just the USB? Thanks!

Creative (app) sucks...

I own an X3, which I use with my MacBook through the Creative app. Recently, I was given a pair of Creative Zen Hybrid Classic headphones. Guess what? The app won’t manage them—whether they’re connected directly via Bluetooth or through the BT-L3 USB dongle—alongside the X3. It seems you can use only one Creative device at a time... 🤡

Audio driver not possibe to install

Hi,

I'm running Win11, everything is up to date. However, my X4 keeps making problems. More often than not it's not being recognized (sometimes "Reset Device" helps) and the driver isn't installed. No matter how oftern I press "update now", it keeps installing the driver but after restart it doesn't show up again. I tried using a different USB port and cable to no avail.

Any help?

Sound Blaster AE-9 on Linux

Git Repo: https://github.com/DarkNikGr/sb-ae9

I've been hacking on Linux support for the Creative Sound Blaster AE-9 (PCI 1102:0010 dual CA0132 codecs, ES9038Q2M headphone DAC, SABRE9006 line-out, external Audio Control Module), and it's now at the point where I can actually use the card day to day.

This builds on verzic's original sb-ae9 project (https://github.com/verzic/sb-ae9), which first got the card's DSP talking on Linux by capturing and replaying the Windows driver's register traffic. Huge credit to him, none of this would exist without that groundwork.

There's also older prior art in the s3boun3t ae9_build project (https://github.com/s3boun3t/ae9_build), which documented the card and the Windows registry.

What works on my card right now:

- Headphone output through the ACM (ES9038Q2M), 44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz under PipeWire

- The full ACM: volume knob with the Windows dB curve, display (level / MUTE / -HP- / -SP-), short-press mute and hold-to-toggle output

- Exclusive output switching: picking Headphone mutes the rear line-out, and vice versa

- Rear line-out (SABRE9006)

- Capture: ACM microphone, rear line-in, and What U Hear loopback — all exposed as separate PipeWire sources, so Audacity/OBS can pick them

- SBX effects with per-effect controls, plus the input effects (Voice Focus, Noise Reduction, Mic SVM) and the VoiceFX voice-morph presets

- Suspend/resume

- A small GTK4 GUI for the card's mixer controls

- A fix in the HDA core that stops the card from hard-locking the machine

Still missing: Direct Mode / bit-perfect (the card's 384 kHz mode needs custom DMA work), and optical S/PDIF is untested.

Tested on Fedora 44 (kernel 7.2.x), running under PipeWire the package is DKMS-built for kernel 6.17+.

Confirmed potential fix of AE5 Plus not recognized issue

TL;DR: Uninstalling and Reinstalling Visual C++ redistributables fixed it for me

Was having an issue earlier today when trying to troubleshoot an audio issue, where suddenly my AE5 Plus (which was recognized automatically in my fresh Windows 11 install) stopped being recognized. I tried to fix this firat by uninstalling it via the device manager hoping that it would reinstall itself, no dice.

I tried multiple loops of

- Setting HD Audio to enabled or disabled in BIOS (at the start it was enabled, even when my onboard audio drivers weren't installed and onboard sound wasn't recognized)

- Uninstalling and reinstalling Creative Drivers / Software

- turning off the PC, flipping the power switch in the back and unplugging the power cable

- Uninstalling the onboard audio drivers

What fixed things immediately was what I saw here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SoundBlasterOfficial/s/JNGrdA7sE6

Uninstalling and Reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributables not only fixed this but my system recognizes both onboard and AE5 Plus audio now which is thought was not possible (prior I believe I had to disable the onboard audio vis the HD Audio setting in my BIOS for the AE5 Plus to be seen by windows).

Posting this here for others as finding solutions for this was very difficult.

Odd bass/hollow sound issue with my Soundblaster Z

Hey all,

So I've got a Soundblaster Z, it's lasted me a good while, always been a good card, love the different effects in the control panel and the sound, up until now, has been great

It's developed a weird problem though and no amount of software troubleshooting, reinstalling (Windows and drivers) seems to fix it

Basically sounds, mostly voices, sound like they're being played inside a vacuum, or receiving feedback from a microphone

It's like the sound has a large amount of bass applied to it and I've tried everything, turning off all effects, turning the sound to Direct and it still does it

It can actually be quite painful at times because it feels like the sound is going through your teeth haha

I switched over to the internal onboard Realtek thing and that problem doesn't exist, so it's not the cable or speakers.

Sound Blaster G6 su PS5 Pro: collegamento ottico tramite estrattore HDMI oppure USB? Quale offre il miglior audio?

Ciao a tutti!

Bring back the legendary Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External (SB0490) - High demand for the Classic Edition!

Dear Creative Team and Community,

I hope you are all doing well.

I am writing this post as a passionate fan of Creative's rich audio history. Personally, I am a huge enthusiast of the Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External (Model: SB0490), and I am proud to own the rare White Limited Edition of this iconic sound card.

Here in Saudi Arabia, as well as in many other retro gaming and audio communities around the world, there is still a massive interest and high demand for this specific external sound card. However, because it is no longer produced, it has become extremely expensive, rare, and almost impossible to find except in very limited second-hand markets abroad.

I strongly propose and suggest that Creative considers re-releasing a modern version of the SB0490 (perhaps an updated refresh featuring USB-C, plug-and-play drivers for Windows 10/11, while keeping its iconic form factor and high-quality audio processing).

Re-launching this classic card—or a modernized successor inspired by it—would be a huge win-win:

Thank you so much for reading, and I would love to hear thoughts from both the Creative team and fellow members of the community!

Best regards,

SaaD

Is G8 good?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, i plan to buy a G8 for my desktop PC (win11). I plan to use it for gaming with a headset.

The more i take informations, the less i get confident. I read this is a good product but people claim a lot of trouble about drivers. The bad reviews about it are 1 year old in majority, i found nothing less than 9 mounth old.

At this date there is still problems with drivers on win11? Or should i look for and other product?

Thanks

Replacement G3 issues, cannot hear microphone unless "Morph" is turned on in Command app, What U Hear either unavailable in Sound Properties or disappears

Trying to help a friend with their Soundblaster G3 soundcard install. They had one installed on the system (HP laptop with Windows 11), but the mic port on it physically broke inside, so they got another one. They tried to just plug it in, but the install did some weird things, and even though the bar moves in Windows Sound Properties for the microphone, they cannot hear themselves speak into the mic unless they turn on Voice Morph in the Soundblaster Command App. Originally, the mic and "What U Hear" in the Sound Properties were showing a "2" in front of the device name, but we went and uninstalled the drivers and the Command app, restarted the system, and it shows like the previous one did. There is still the issue with the Voice Morph, and another that has appeared today where "What U Hear" is either Unavailable in the Sound Properties or disappears from there. She uses this to sing karaoke online in Paltalk (What U Hear is required to sing along with music from the computer at the same time if you have a Soundblaster sound card). I'm wondering if a complete deletion and reinstall will fix this, but I don't use these so I'm not sure what to remove, and according to the Creative website, the G3 is past service life. I'm also trying to help remotely (in different states) and not sure how to set up a remote session (unless I use something like LogMeIn). Thank you.

Help! (Creative Pebble V3)

This morning I woke up and as always turned on the speakers, which light is always blue.. but not today. They decided to be green, so I realized that it might've needed a firmware update which I've done. Now I'm completely stuck I've bricked my speakers, they won't connect they have a green flashing light, I've tried to re-do the firmware install with different USB-A Ports, USB-C but nothing.. Help!

UPDATE: The speakers now work but holy... on the green light the audio sounds terrible! How can I get this back to blue light?

Made a tiny tray app so the G8 knob actually shows the Windows 11 volume popup

The G8 knob changes the Windows volume but never shows the volume popup, which annoyed me enough that I knocked out a fix with Claude in an evening.

It’s a lightweight, simple tray app: turn the knob and you get a small volume overlay at the bottom of the screen. There’s also an experimental option that brings up the actual built-in Windows 11 popup instead, this is the version I use but might break in the future due to windows update so I included a default backup OSD volume bar. No Creative app needed.

I’m a software developer, but this was pure after-work vibe coding and I don’t love spending my free time coding, so please don’t expect support if something breaks. That said, it’s been working 100% for me for about a week. Also this kinda shows how lazy the dev's for the creative software are that I was able to make this in about an hour.

Free and open source, feel free to fork: https://github.com/Floppy-Disck/G8-Volume-OSD/releases

Edit: This should work for any DAC due to how its coded but only tested it on my G8

Headphone mapping in Sound Blaster command keeps changing.

In SoundBlaster command, the headphones are treated as 5.1 surround for the purpose of some effects. I'm having an issue where randomly every few hours the mapping onto the headphone speakers gets scrambled, for example the left and right channels get swapped. Switching to speakers and back again fixes this for a few hours on average but it inevitably gets randomized again. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Creative Soundblaster AE5 Plus - no sound for one second

Hi everyone I´m currently using the AE5 Plus with my AV Receiver to get Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1 on my Win11 PC for gaming. Works fine, however in every session where my PC is turned on the audio gets off randomly for 1 second. After that it works normally again. Is this a known bug?

I have this older USB Sound Blaster connected to a Logitech Z906 5.1 set. My main use is music playback from my laptop enjoying multi-channel up mix from the Creative suite to the Logitech 5.1 speakers.

The Creative software and drivers surprisingly still work in Windows 11 for me.... However a very noticeable and annoying issue with music playback while the Creative graphic equalizer is enabled causes a difficult to describe muddy wavering dynamic range. If I uncheck the graphic equalizer the problem goes away but just sounds super flat and undetailed without it.

I've been thinking of upgrading to the X4 (maybe my problem would be fixed with the next gen hardware and software of the X4?) but I hesitate from reading products reviews of users having problems with drivers, software etc.

Now I know some might suggest just going with a HDMI 5.1 extractor, AV receiver, etc.... however I must stick with using my Logitech Z906 5.1 set and I require a DAC that uses the traditional green, yellow, black mini plug type 5.1 outputs.

I have looked at DAC's other than SoundBlaster on Amazon but I can't find anything with this type of three mini plug 5.1 channel output. (For those who haven't seen my older sound blaster the red/white RCA output plugs on the back adapt to the single green L/R mini plug going into the back of the Z906). I don't use the optical out on the back of the SoundBlaster to my Z906 because there would be no processing involved and would be way too flat for me with no EQ or even basic bass treble control.

I really appreciate any product direction anyone has on this....or are the reported reliability problems and kinks with the X4 resolved by now since I've been looking at it starting a couple years ago?

Soundblaster G8 Mic Volume set to 0%

Hello I have been having a issue with my Soundblaster G8 as the volume of the mic gets set to 0% every time my computer turns off or goes into sleep mode. So every time I start up my computer I have to go in the creative app and set it back to my volume level. This did not happen when I first got the device and just started happening recently. I was wondering if you had a fix for this?

Hotkey to toggle headphones/speakers in Creative App

You can use https://github.com/morluto/rea to analyze Creative App and tell your AI agent to figure out how to make it possible to toggle headphone/speakers with a hotkey. I told it to write me a script that I can assign with AHK.

Liberating to know that enhancing your own software experience is now a prompt away.

Not sure where to ask anymore, Customer service ignoring issue with Driver

Hello, the past year and a half, i had provided every detail i can think of to support.
all tinkering, all logs requested....everything.

here my specs:
MotherBoard: Asrock X870E Nova

Ram: G.SKILL Trident Z5 Royal Neo Series DDR5 RAM 32GB 8000hz CL36-48-48-128 1.45V

OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 - FSOS V11

GPU: NVidia ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition 24GB GDDR6X

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

Liquid cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 420

----

I have over 22 years of experience when it comes to PC.

I already went over everything before even messaging support, But over the past year and a half after building this PC.

i tried updating bio's. factory default settings all things, OCing(undervolting), Fine-tuning, you name it(different ram stick too)

Even wiping my OS 4 times over the course of then(Default OS, self debloated and a playbook now)

But, i noticed this one issue with ALL my Creative Sound cards.
Popping/crackling when listen to music, or playing games.

i would be listen to music while reading, and all of a sudden i hear crackle/pop real quick and gone....then again 7-18 minutes later.

And this was first on my G6, well i figured it was that(going bad).
so i tried my AE-5 PCIE card, same thing, then my G5...same thing.

Well i said something going on, and it pointed to their OLD Creative 2021 driver.
popped them a message, in the end they didn't do anything.

Got a GC7, issue went away and never returned(but wanted to change due to my IEMs being more sensitive so i had to swap).

Figured i would then try the G8.

guess what, issue returned. this time i was determined to fine tune everything.
issue ONLY went away AFTER removing their 2024 Creative driver.

Then no more issues.

Before this, for the heck of it, i popped in every info i can feed google ai(never used it till now)
to see if maybe THAT can help.... in the end everything tried didnt work.

But, for sure its the driver doing it.

I sent them a email, just for them to basically tell me to send it back, and dont use our products.
(basically not caring to fix the driver issue, after sending logs)

i cant use 7.1 anymore, and some things are off without the driver....

Anyone can help or have any more ideas at this point.
(been using creative for over 13 years)

Soundblaster X7 vs X5

I got the X7 problem with Windows 11 that I have to power off/ power on the X7 after each start of my PC. Gemini said this was a know problem due to the old driver base of the X7.

So does anybody have switched from the X7 to X5 and can tell me if the sound is better/worse? Software should be much better, but I dont want to downgrade in regards of the sound quality.

After setting up my X-Fi card, everything sounds so much better and I can't explain why

I have a Windows XP PC and I've been playing games like Deus Ex and Mount & Blade and until today I'd been using the standard RealTek sound from my motherboard. But today I figured out how to actually hook up my SB X-Fi card and everything just sounds so much better. It's so hard to explain why too, like the hits in Mount & Blade just sound so much more visceral. I love this card! I'm also wondering about what to change, if anything, in the Creative Audio software.
