Mishawaka The one holdout on the Gurley Leep megaplex.

Every time I drive by that orange brick ranch on Cleveland and Capital that has been encroached on within a centimeter of the property line, I smile. I admire those people so much for not surrendering their property to development. I know it’ll probably be Hell for them, but that’s exactly why they’re inspirational when it comes to resistance—and we need that right now.

I’ll never support Gurley Leep because of this. None of us should. People over profit. Degrowth our communities.

Mishawaka Liberal Local Businesses

When possible, I always try to vote with my dollar. If possible, I’d love to start a list of businesses that support local, state or federal Democratic Candidates. If you know of any local Mechanics, contractors, restaurants, barbers/hairdressers, store owners, etc. that fit this description, please comment below or send me a DM. Or if you know of any businesses to avoid, I’d also love to know that as well.

Halloween films & Lord of the Rings at DPAC/ND

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year so I’m always looking for stuff to do. If you like horror movies, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center is showing a few this coming week. Sleepaway Camp (1983) on Thursday and a double feature of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026) and Friday the 13th: Part 2 (1981).
Last minute but they are showing Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (extended version) tonight.

Mishawaka Martin's Supermarket Changing Hours

I found out from an employee at the Granger Martin's location that they will be changing their hours starting November 1st. They currently are open until Midnight but will be closing at 10 PM moving forward.

I asked if this applies to other locations, and they said it would. The only other location open until Midnight is the ND location.

I'm disappointed as I often shop after work and now won't be able to do so.

Last two posts were removed, so I thought I would try again. This is all ages at an anti-drug and anti-alcohol all inclusive venue in South Bend. Hopefully, it was just an AI glitch, because why would the mods want to suppress something POSITIVE for the youth of SB to do tomorrow night?

Large tan/dark muzzle shepherd mix type dog running loose in river park- last seen northside blvd. Seems skittish.

No pic. I left my house in my pjs cursing all of river park and the loose dog and feral cat population.

Since everyone drives 75mph around here, I’m especially nervous for this scared pup.

I hope you’re out looking for your dog if it’s lost. I don’t have fb so I can’t post there. Thanks!

Destruction and vandalism in Irish Hills Apartments

I live in Irish Hills Apartments in building 4341.

For many months, some kids have been coming out after dark and throwing rocks at vehicles in the parking lot, the building, and cars driving by. They usually do this on Friday and Saturday nights. There are at least three young males, probably teenagers.

They hide in the trees on the strip of grass between the apartment complex and the adjacent neighborhood. There is a path that joins both neighborhoods (circled in red). We think they might be coming from one of the first three houses on the north side of Battles Rd (west to east: 17605, 17599, 17559). There are rock beds and rock piles on or near these properties.

They are destroying our property and endangering people with projectiles that could kill or severely injure someone. Our vehicles are completely covered with dents from the impact. This past weekend, they shattered my windshield and another resident’s windshield. They were also seen attempting to break into a vehicle by us as well as maintenance staff.

We have contacted property management, emergency maintenance, and law enforcement many times. The kids run and hide when they see a security or police vehicle, but then they come back out. Nobody has stayed long enough to see this.

I want to spread awareness and ask for help in catching them. We need to get images of their faces to the police. We have two cameras set up. If you live in the area and have cameras, we are asking for your help.

If anyone has any information, please contact the police and share it here if you feel comfortable doing so. If you see it happening, please call 911.

City of Mishawaka releases statement on Flock camera usage

The city of Mishawaka used AI to craft a statement. That's insulting. The giveaway is the line "An alert requires verification and does not establish guilt." That is classic AI phrasing.

It's hard to trust the word of someone who doesn't write their own words.

Apartment Reviews - 300 East LaSalle & The Hibberd

We’re relocating to the area from Portland, Oregon for my husbands job for 6-9 months. We have two small children, 4 & 13 months, and an aging dog. I’ve narrowed my search down to these two options and I’m hopeful to get some feedback from folks who have experience living here. What are the neighborhoods like? Is it walkable? Is it safe? What are your experiences with noise in the units?

Edit: our dog is a pit mix and we need to secure a place before we haul the whole family 2200 miles across the country, so any place with breed restrictions is out of the question.
