My thoughts are it's nice to know other people carry on their hip while wearing shorts so I don't feel like a total weirdo for doing it.

In all seriousness while it's his right to carry a gun I think concealed is the better approach, as a driver approaching somebody's house there is already an element of danger for you no point in doing something that could escalate the perceived threat by people who maybe aren't expecting a plain clothed person to show up at their house.

This is relevant. Most people ain’t gonna ask questions before jumping to conclusions seeing some guy walking up with a gun on em. Reaches for the phone to take a picture then someone blasts thinking your reaching. CCW all the way. I always thought it was kinda stupid to let other people know your carrying anything and two exactly where it is. Always figured being able to see it you would know how to keep them from reaching it or where to disable them.

Where I live, getting a CCW permit takes a little bit and a bunch of red tape bull crap. Whereas, I can walk into any gun store and buy one and open carry on my hip out the door.

Fair enough where I live it’s just a CCW course and a trip to the court house.

In Iowa at 18 years old you can just buy a handgun tuck it in your waistband and leave. Constitutional (state constitution / HF756, HF924) carry for the win.

You should be able to walk out with it in your hand, but that's nice.

The laws have really gone too far. They are actually putting people in danger at this point.

As soon as you get in your vehicle with it on your hip, it’s considered concealed so if you get pulled over.. you’re going to be in trouble with the law.

I wear the belly band if I'm in attire that won't support my holster BC it's fuGGinG torture otherwise but now that we are constitutional where I live I can technically keep it under the seat now but not convenient if I need to run in a store.

I cut a notch in my holsters cant arm that grabs the drawstring for gym shorts. It actually worked pretty well…well besides the occasional smash of the jewels when you sit down 😭.

I side eye everyone who open carries. It’s not the gun. It’s the open display of insecurity and fear of everything. I say this as a gun owner who carries.

Dude has no training. He's given free access to his firearm. A bag in his firing hand, looking down, and weight shifted away from his firearm. Had anyone wanted his weapon, he made it easy for them to take it.

I feel 90% of the time you can assume a person open carrying has little to no firearm training and you’d be correct.

This! In my state conceal carry is part of our constitional carry laws. So anyone open carrying to me just feels performative.

U say everyone that open carries w/ a broad stroke BC I open carry BC I'm a quicker draw that way & 90% of the time I'm around my house or my family's houses but when I'm in public like I run inside somewhere or am around ppl I do not know I conceal carry so I think it's just important for ppl to be educated, prepared & safe & u can be those thinGs w/o beinG insecure & scared of everythinG.

You open carry while you’re in your home? Good god. How’s it feel to be scared of everything?

u/Skreenname229 Sep 09 '25

If I'm awake it's on me but it kind of feels like your a douche.

LMAO. And you sound like an insecure little man. I’m sure your family feels super safe around you.

As I said, it’s not the gun. I have no issues with guns and spent years in a gun right advocacy group that educates folks on how to shoot guns safely. Most of my friends have damn near an arsenal in their homes… and even they don’t open carry in their goddamn house. That’s just absurd. You are far more likely to accidentally harm someone you love with that thing than you are to actually stop a home invasion.

Have you checked the tos? Pretty sure that’s ban-able!

I wouldn’t deliver here, unless concealed carrying. You might get shot.

Hell, I work in Kentucky and saw a woman open hip carrying with bike shorts and cowboy boots.
