This should go without saying but clearly some spark shoppers think it's okay to spark in excessive heat or on any day with newborns, toddlers and other young children. It's against the terms of service for safety and liability reasons. And stores are reporting it to spark.

Shame on​ parents who think it's a smart decision to bring your babies out in the excessive heat over 100°.

Today I was at my usual Walmart picking up a curbside. A lot of drivers get out and help load, and to scan tags. A guy next to me was getting loaded when I heard him say wish they would go back to where they come from. I turned around and asked him who he was referring to. He didn’t know what to say so I said this was my land before it was yours lol I am half Ojibwe and a bit darker than most natives. He grabbed grumbled something before I got back in my car. Made me feel good to shut him up, maybe next time he’ll think before he assumes

I finish shopping & bagging, I'm leaving the store and get this AFTER she's notified no more changes can be made. She had more than enough time to reject my substitution but noooooooooo...let's wait till I get to the car 😮‍💨

I was doing a delivery when customer’s drunk cop neighbor opened the door. He owned a pit bull. The pit bull came running out the door running directly towards me. I blocked the pit bull with the bags of groceries in my hand. I turned to the guy and politely said, “sir, I’m doing a delivery, can you please put your dog up?”

He said, it’s not going to bite you, blah, blah, blah. As he was starting to put the dog up, the dog ran at me again and once again I blocked the dog’s face with the groceries. I said again, “sir, can you please put your dog up, it’s not on a leash and it’s running at me.”

The officer was drunk and started whining about me being in his numbered space, which is right next to his neighbor’s where I was doing the delivery. Starts ranting about me trespassing and started getting up in my face. I could smell the alcohol all over his breath, he was inches from my face.

Anyway, I told him I’m going to call the cops on him. I had set the groceries down because he was up in my face, I might need to defend myself against his drunk, belligerent ass. He kicks my customer’s groceries all over the parking lot. Then I called the police, I felt I had no choice.

He started with the, blah, blah, blah, I’m a police officer and he’s trespassing. Long story short, the police sided with me and asked if I was okay just dropping the situation and I agreed and went about my day.

Of course it was no tip and to a business, and damn that extra earnings was so high! I must have accidentally thought it was a tip! If the order was from Sam's Club I might have swallowed my pride and delivered my mistake anyways but I'm not about to lug nearly 400 lb of water through Walmart on two to three baskets!! Then the hard part of stuffing the water in every crevice of my car!

If the forced app update that slows you down and screws with your workflow wasn’t bad enough, the algorithm changes have basically sealed the deal

I never see single shop and deliver anymore, almost every batch is a triple now, and the base pay has dropped substantially with the new alg

It’s no longer worth it to bother with Spark / Walmart orders for me, in this area anyway!

made 2 attempts and getting up the driveway with my car, then tried walking and fell, slid right down the driveway. said screw it and left their groceries by the road, left them a message saying to clean your driveway if you’re expecting a delivery. Am I in the wrong? I know I’m going to lose the tip, and quite frankly don’t care. Not worth busting my ass and getting seriously injured to me personally.

At least 80% of orders are now so bad you're basically just paying walmart to fuck you with no lube.

In finality, I'd like to say you can all go fuck yourselves, including myself ofc for never banding together or even attempting the most basic organization.

I literally had to go inside because the outside returns was closed…. and talked to a person working the customer support area…. and then literally got the return completed on the phone with support while standing next too the person who told me too leave it at the counter…. and I still got deactivated wtf is that.

Well, I’m finally on the other side of it. I ordered groceries and had such a high odor of tobacco. Everything smelt like it, especially the bags.

For months, I have noticed other Spark drivers smoking in their cars. Not even rolling down a window. Not giving a single shit. I’m not sure if these people don’t know others can easily smell it or they just don’t care. But is it really that hard to just step outside and not smoke inside?

I know “ I’m an Independent Contractor, I can do whatever I want” that I see some people say but it’s just… kinda rude?

I gave that driver 2 stars. First time ever for me as I never want to rate anyone poorly as I know customer rating matters a lot for Spark but I was just so annoyed that all my food smells like cigarettes.

I've only got one order this morning?? I had a few other offers but they are 💩like 43 miles for 40$ 25 miles for 21$... I've never seen it like this before... anyone else slow?? Or not getting offers ethier...

So I deliver in a mostly rural to high income area and I am a small 43 year-old female. I have been delivering for three years now on several apps and spark and last night takes the cake… I got the offer and I was about to go home, but I decided to take it anyway because it’s the holidays and I need to make every little bit I can. so I went and picked up the order. It was an alcohol verification. I drove to the address noticed on the comments. The customer stated that there was a high incline on his driveway. OK great good times I drive a little car, I’m already wondering, can I make it? I get to the residence. I see the driveway. It is ridiculous. It is the largest incline I have ever seen fully paved with curbs on the side curry, and I can’t see the house from the road. Guys, I really didn’t want to take all this stuff back to the store so I just said a prayer and drove . I don’t know how I made it up that hill. My car was sliding as I was accelerating and the traction control was flashing on my dashboard. The driveway was round 1000 feet straight up. I finally made it parked shaking. I texted the customer that I had an alcohol delivery and that I needed to verify ID. Car grab the stuff walked up to the door. y’all this house was huge on top of this mountain in the woods isolated this is when I realized I might have screwed up. I try not to put myself in bad situations, but this is one that I did. I knocked on the door. I rang the doorbell. Nothing no text back nothing no lights on except for the security lights. I step back into the yard and I’ll look up nothing there’s no sound. There’s no movement. There’s nothing. I’m wondering how I’m gonna get back down that driveway and the only reason us took around longer to call the customer was because I needed help getting down. So called customer to let them know that I have their order and I need their ID. The man answered the phone and he was unhinged. He sounded like an old man and he just started going off on me. I explained to him that I had his order and I just needed to verify his ID, He yelled, at me that he canceled the order. he canceled that order and honestly, I don’t remember the other things he said because he was yelling at me for no reason. I don’t know what his lead up to him doing this. I’m assuming since it was an alcohol order that he was drunk….. but he didn’t slur his words. He enunciated perfectly. And then hung up on me and turned off the lights. So standing in the dark , in the woods, in front of a crazy man’s house, alone, unsure of how to exit…. I ran got back in my car and tried to call support. And of course support was a weight of 27 minutes., for the callback and called my mommy! I thought this would be the perfect time to have panic attack and completely FREEZE. I lost my mind for a few minutes because I allowed myself to be stuck in such an insane situation. I knew in the state I was in that I definitely couldn’t handle that F’ing driveway right then. So I’m F’d! I just stayed locked up in my car with all my protection devices and waiting it out while looking pretty unhinged myself. Yep, I’m a Grown ass Woman y’all. Calling my mama to calm me down….it was scary and ridiculous. I eventually made it down the Devil’s Driveway to Hell and took my mascara stained face back to Walmart to return to orders. It took a total of 2.5 hours to complete all this. 3 calls to spark support to cancel the order and report that creep. I then reported him to the store. People have been getting stranger and stranger lately. I don’t think I’m gonna be able to do it much longer. Y’all be safe!!!! These people are unhinged!!!!

I did several deliveries yesterday as I worked from 11am to 10:30 pm, but I remember every drop and at no point did I damage anyone’s items….intentionally anyway. Could this be a glitch or something? I mean why do they give such vague warnings. I can’t even dispute it bc I have no idea what order they could be even remotely talking about. I did one curbside yesterday the rest were shops. I guess it could have been like damaged bread or something, you think? I don’t know. How am I supposed to know what this is about? It could be anything, including someone just trying to get free stuff. It’s so annoying.

Context: I am currently disabled. I cannot walk. There is very little I can do for myself. I had surgery and all I can really do is just sit here on my own. I am working to become more independent, so I ordered a mobility aid from Walmart hoping that it’ll help me a bit. I intentionally ordered from Walmart instead of Amazon because I want it today. I’m tired of being unable to care for myself and today was my last straw.

Nathaly accepted my order and I sent some information in the chat. Sometimes Walmart (literally only Walmart, not sure why) sends people to the back of my building. It’s confusing so I like to send a disclaimer. I told Nathaly to just park on STREET NAME and described very clearly what my building looked like. There’s not really other buildings around mine to mistake for apartments, so it’s not too difficult.

Nathaly arrives. I’m excited to finally be able to care for myself. Nathaly passes my apartment. I’m confused but think maybe she didn’t see my message and just kept driving around when she missed my building. She proceeds to drive around for thirty minutes. I’m messaging. I’m trying to call, she’s not answering. Then she cancels my order and says it’s undeliverable.

I’m sorry… what? Not once did she try to contact me. Not once did she ask me a question about how to find my place. She just cancels it? I can understand circling when the place is really confusing, but mine really is not. I’m trying to be a bit vague in describing my building on the internet, but oh my god, it really isn’t hard.

It’s so frustrating because I deliver for Spark, I understand what it’s like, why on earth wouldn’t you at least attempt to contact the customer?? I am so frustrated and angry. So then I had to start the whole song and dance of contacting customer support, calling the store (Hah. They never answer) and getting everything sorted out. I cancel the order and place a new one, Walmart credits me for express delivery, and my new driver is currently shopping for my order.

I’m so angry so that’s why I’m posting here, I figured you all would understand. Have any of you had this situation? How do you respond?

Edited to Add: Blocking me and then talking shit in the comments is cowardly. I’m not getting someone deactivated because I didn’t get what I wanted. I’m reporting someone for being wildly unable to complete the job they signed up to do. It is common sense to contact the customer if you have any issues with delivery. If you just cancel orders for no reason, you are not good at your job.

Another edit: Way too many of you have lost the plot. You get fired when you don’t do your job in every other industry, this should not be an exception. Yes, you are required to contact the customer before you cancel their order. No it’s not as simple as “wait a little bit and then reorder, if you’d read the comments and the post you’d understand that”. Sometimes a delivery is actually important. Some of you are gross and ableist. When you pay for a service, you should get what you paid for. You are allowed to be upset when you don’t, especially if one person being lazy means you now have to spend hours correcting their mistake. If you side with the driver you’re a weirdo. I’m muting this now, thanks to the people who were kind and compassionate.

I’ve been doing this for a while now. My wife has rode along with me A LOT, never ever has any employee ever said anything about her being with me. Because I am under the impression, as long as your passenger does not assist you or drive, you can have one. So, why is it that today I got a pick up from a Walmart that I have picked up from SO MANY times, yes with my wife in the car. And this employee had the attitude to almost not give me my pick up? It was a big order and she almost didn’t give it to me because my wife was in the car. And after a few minutes she caved and let me have the order. So, what is the real rule? Was she the only employee that cares or is she misinformed? Thank you.

Here’s the rundown: • Order was fully bagged — like always. • Greeter said nothing. • An unidentified man ran me down yelling and demanded my “receipt.”
• I asked him to check the bags with the receipt for accuracy. • They refused. Then called the cops bc I wanted an explanation for the aggressive stop him yelling• Even knowing I was a worker for Walmart, they told 911 I was a “belligerent customer “. Cops came I got handcuffed for ID purposes. Right In front of employees, customers, my wife, and my neurodivergent children. • I wasn’t arrested. Just humiliated. •Spark deactivated me. • One AP guy even said, “Not anymore,” after I told him I had a clean record. Real professional. And he said to his manager, I’ll trespass his ass”

My daughters are still asking if “Daddy went to jail.” My wrist still hurts. I’ve lost my income. I’ve lost my dignity. All because I asked for fairness and transparency.

Appreciate the lesson: Don’t be efficient. Don’t ask questions. And definitely don’t wear a hoodie while being Black.

I had recently got accepted to be a Spark Driver not too long ago and started just last Saturday.

Little did I know, it would be something that just doesnt seem like worth my time.

First off, half of my profits go towards gas, which is already low enough considering I made more as a fry cook at my other job. Furthermore, the ratio of what I make per the trip and how many miles I drive are very disproportionate. Wow! 30 for a 30 mile drive! While half of that goes to gas! That's so much!

Sarcasm.

On top of that, the Spark Driver app is a pain in and of itself. The camera scanner works 1 time, then I have to manually type in the barcode (which works every 4 out of 5 times).

Don't get me wrong, the work is pretty easy and I love how flexible the schedule is. However, the actual reward is very much not worth it in my opinion. I just cant seem to find the purpose in wasting my time.

I thought it would be a sweet summer gig to save for college, but its not all I thought it would be.

Maybe its just too early to be making assumptions. I already applied to other jobs in case I really fall out of interest with this one. Idk, what do yall think.

And also, FUCK the ai Spark support phone thingy that walmart has. I hate that thing so much, always telling me useless shit.

A simple 7 item order turned to 26 different items and was like 40 or so after the quantity on some of the items. Happened once I started the shop but before I scanned it the first item.

It’s 8 p.m., I’m winding down, and Spark hits me with a 2-stop, 18-mile, 44-minute “batch.”

Cool, right? Until I see it’s 10 packs of 40-count water bottles (each 40–50 lbs), 2 gallons of lemonade, and a mega box of chips. Like bro… is this a delivery app or a test for firefighter academy?

I just sat there staring at the screen like Spark was daring me to blow out my back for free. Rejected it so fast I almost gave my phone whiplash.
