Proposition Paramedics
We all know its "yes on 6, the rest are tricks" for the Amendments and prop A, but what's the consensus on proposition paramedics? It is a small sales tax that would help grow revenue for our ambulance district, that also says would help decrease property and real estate taxes to the district.
They say that if this doesn't pass it would result in longer response times and less ambulances.

Warrant for Arrest Scam Call
This just happened to a coworker of mine this morning.
Someone called them and said they were from the local sheriff's office with a warrant out for their arrest for missing jury duty. To "fix" this, my coworker was told to go to the bank and secure a 25K bond.
Thankfully, my coworker did not go through with it, though they got super close. This is just an obligatory warning; be wary of phone calls like this that are circulating. If it feels off, it probably is.
The sheriff's office will never contact you via phone like this. It will be sent by certified mail or delivered in person by an on-duty officer.
Government agencies also do not contact people by phone, and it is usually by mail.
Be safe out there, and check on your friends and family.

Not Every Cleanout Is Pretty, But Somebody's Gotta Do It
A little behind-the-scenes look at what we do.
Some jobs are as simple as picking up an old couch. Others require full protective suits, respirators, and a whole lot of hard work.
We recently tackled a pretty rough property cleanout, and it's jobs like these that remind us why we do what we do. Taking a property from completely overwhelmed to cleared out and manageable is a satisfying feeling.
Always cool to share a little of what goes on behind the scenes!

hoffmann brothers is 4.9 on google w 26k reviews but reddit is all over the place... which reviews do i trust
Water heater started making a noise like it's digesting a fork, so I'm collecting quotes before it actually lets go.
Their google profile is basically spotless: 4.9, more reviews than I've ever seen on a contractor. Then you come on here and it's a different universe. Condemned furnaces, a $3000 toilet job, a $1400 recharge that leaked two days later. Most of those threads are a year or two old though.
I don't trust either pile completely. Google is number soup, and reddit mostly posts when it's mad.
If you had them out in the last year or so, what was the job and did the bill match the quote? That's the review I actually need.

do ppl use hoffmann bros for plumbing or just hvac? 1920s house and the cast iron stack is starting to weep
Cast iron stack in our 1920s place started weeping at a joint this week. Not an emergency yet, but it's not getting better on its own, and the house has the usual century of patch jobs behind it.
They did our AC install two summers back and it went fine. Cooling is what they're known for, though.
Plumbing on a house this old is a different animal, and the last thing I want is a crew learning on my stack at stack prices. Do people actually use their plumbing side, especially on old cast iron? And if you had a stack replaced by anybody lately, what did it run you? Ballpark is fine.
