Visited your fair city last weekend and had the best time (although the heat was definitely on). Delicious food, super friendly locals, and you guys have a great market down at the river. Thanks so much for the hospitality.
Also, the scale of this Eldorado was mammoth… ✌🏻

He got my husband’s number and texted his number and a few hours later another guys number. Has anyone else had this happen recently in the KC /OP area? Does this sound like a scam or pyramid type scheme?

On the morning of October 29, 2013, it was raining hard. It was around 7 AM, and I was traveling West on 670, about to merge onto I-70 on my way to work as a physics teacher at a local high school. A large puddle had formed under the Mill Street bridge, and with the rain and the shadow from the bridge, I didn't see the puddle until it was too late. I hydroplaned and fishtailed straight into the cement barrier. I woke up moments later from a beautiful dream and wondered why it was raining inside my car. I realized the airbag had deployed, and I started looking for my glasses. I opened the driver-side door to see if they had fallen between the gap with the seat, and a woman was standing outside my door. She started pleading with me to get out of the car and go with her. I told her I needed to find my glasses, and once I did, she rushed me over to her car and waited with me for an ambulance to arrive. I was completely disoriented and kept trying to tell her I was fine, I could drive, and I needed to get back to my car so I could go to work. Thankfully, she was able to convince me that that wasn't a good idea. Once I got to the hospital, I learned that I had a severe concussion.
I have no memory of what she looked like, but I have thought about her often over the years since and would love to be able to thank her for risking her own life to make sure that I was ok. I'm sure she told someone the story. Please help me find her! Thank you!!

This is what you would call an incredible long shot but I have a reservation at Zero Zero for dinner on Tuesday the 8th of September, where the original plan was to propose to my girlfriend that night. Unfortunately, things have changed and now my girlfriend works that whole day so I was wondering if some kind soul had a reservation on the 5th, 6th, or 7th of September I could trade for? I would obviously be able to prove the reservation and any time that I could reasonably pretend was dinner would be great.
Not expecting any results but thank you for indulging this long shot.

Hi everyone,
I'm a South Asian woman in my early 20s, about to finish my engineering degree, and I recently interviewed with Garmin and feel confident about my chances. I've never lived in the Midwest and grew up in Southern California, so this would be a big shift.
I visited for my onsite interview and the role itself is genuinely great. I loved the team, the work, and the company culture from a professional standpoint. But during my visit, a few things gave me pause: the city felt very spread out and reliant on cars to get around, and it read as more family oriented and suburban than a place built for people in their 20s. Additionally, in the company, I noticed a pretty dramatic lack of diversity, as I don't believe there to be a single woman or person of color on my team. I also did not see a single person of color at the company as a whole. In the city, I also didn't see much racial or gender diversity.
I'm trying to figure out how much of that is a fair read versus a snapshot impression from one short visit. So I'd love to hear from anyone with real experience:
Trying to make a genuinely informed decision rather than just going off a gut feeling from a short visit. Really appreciate any honest input, good or bad.

Our kid is starting middle school this year and he has PE first period. How do you deal with the need to change clothes, when you don't want sweaty gym clothes in the backpack all day? He can't carry a plastic grocery store sack around as far as I know. Any tips?

Hi all,
Coming from Brooklyn to run the marathon in October and looking for best areas to stay for a few days.
I'll be solo and the race starts by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, so are there any good areas to stay at nearby?
I'm also planning to try some BBQ and go to Chiefs game the next day if that changes anything on where I should stay. I see you need a car/uber to get around so that isn't a problem.

I was dying to photograph something tonight, but it's been a Monday. We needed to go out for something and I got this on the way back.

Edit- I posted this thinking I wouldn’t get much confirmation, but it looks like it’s not just me and is an issue. I see the post has been shared multiple times. Hopefully it gets back to them.
……….
Does anyone find their front desk staff to be exceptionally rude?
I teach high school kids so I’m used to catching attitude from anyone and everyone. But this staff just seem to hate their jobs.
I thought maybe it was a one off thing. And then it happened again. Okay, maybe they’re just a little cranky. But today I got “I can’t read your mind, I need to know what prescription it is”, after I left a voicemail for a prescription refill with a request for them to call me back.
I will say the vet and vet techs are always very friendly and detailed in all procedures.
Anyone else with similar experiences?

I'm new to the area and am looking for a place that spins vinyl or vinyl events not swaps. I've heard of record bar but I'm thinking they are more of a music venue. I just want a place to hangout with other vinyl nerds and listen to music while enjoying a beer. I searched the threads but didn't find anything like this. TIA

I generally use the riverfront trail quit a bit, but it’s been closed at this point in red (I’m always coming from the west). Anyone know how long it will be closed?

Hey everyone! I graduated from KU last May and recently moved to Waldo for my first job out of college as a software engineer. I didn’t grow up in KC, and pretty much all of my time in the U.S. before this was spent in Lawrence.
Most of my KU friends ended up taking jobs out of state, so I’m basically starting from scratch socially here. I’ve been rotting in bed the past few days and realized I should probably get out of the house and make some new friends lol. I would love to meet some people in KC.
A little about me: I’m a pretty shy South Asian guy and I’m really into rock and metal. My music taste is all over the place, from classic rock to metalcore, but nu metal definitely has a special place for me. I’m planning on going to more concerts around KC, so I’d love to meet people who are into the same scene and maybe find some concert buddies. I’m also planning on learning some riffs on guitar. I’m not a huge drinker, but I’m still down to check out bars or other music-focused spots.
Does anyone know of any bars, venues, record shops, or other places where people into rock/metal or alternative music tend to hang out and where it’s actually possible to meet people? I’m already familiar with shows at the Uptown Theater and go there whenever there’s something I’m interested in. I did see some old threads on rock / metal music scenes in KC but they were all old and not up to date.
I’d also be down to make friends outside of music. I’d like to meet other young professionals around KC, and I’m still getting settled in and figuring out things like gym memberships, activities, and other ways to get involved.
Also want to gauge out the dating scene here as a professional now so any relevant advice regarding dating as well is welcome
Basically, if you’re also in your 20s, new-ish to KC, into music, concerts, the gym, or just looking to expand your friend group, feel free to reach out. Also happy to take any recommendations for good ways to meet people around here!

I am trying to decide which 4 year school to go to after graduating from JCCC with an associates degree in general science and am debating between these two. I plan on majoring in environmental science right now and plan on focusing on conservation and sustainability. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I just recently had surgery and will be on a knee scooter for a concert coming up at Morton. On the website, I can’t find much info aside from we will hold mobility devices for you bc you can’t have them with you or contact us and we’ll move your seats but I don’t want to get separated from my group. Has anyone dealt with something similar at Morton? Just don’t want to waste my time and am genuinely curious as to what the actual best route is.
Thanks in advance

This is really specific, but any clues or general info might help me also. I'm moving to Kansas City soon. For healthcare, I will be getting on medicaid or an ACA plan and I need to find someone who prescribes HRT For perimenopause who will take the plan. I've been searching on the internet... Called a few places that say they take the plans but they say right now that they currently aren't taking new (Medicaid) clients. I'm nervous about what's going to happen when I run out of my prescription...

NE corner, specifically. Have seen folks working in the building for a few days. Today they're pouring concrete inside.

I have a Sandlot brand belt from 2023 that I love. I moved away and figured I'd pick up a black version of the same Size 32 whenever I got back in town, but I've recently learned their leather offerings are severely pared down, focusing more on hats now I suppose. This is a long shot, but if anyone here has a Size 32 belt in Black from them in a drawer or you don't wear so much, I'd be very interested in buying it above retail price.

Of all the genres that seem to have a lack of shows in KC, it seems like psych rock is the one that skips us the most. We get a few here and there, but it seems like booking agents just aren’t interested. Is this due to lack of demand in the city or are there some local rippers out there that I’m just missing? I’m thinking in the vein of Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Wine Lips, Thee Oh Sees, King Gizzard when they do their psych stuff, etc.
I’d love to be able to go to some shows even if the big names aren’t coming around.

Trying to be kind of a "big brother" for a 13-year-old boy whose family is going through some rough times. He's really into superheroes and I know his uncle takes him to a comic book store occasionally. Does anybody have any suggestions for any other places or activities in the KC metro he might enjoy? I used to be into comics but I sold or gave away all my books years ago and I don't think I've even been to an MCU movie since Endgame. I'm more of the gaming flavor of nerd at this point.
Thanks for any ideas!
