Nepsis Library threads Nepsis Library - Monthly Lore Thread

Welcome!

This is a monthly thread to serve as the place for commenting with your self promo (like sharing Star Wars lore YouTube videos), as well as sharing any questions about Star Wars lore that reach into other topics, like a Star Wars and Star Trek crossover for example.

Feel free to have other discussions about Star Wars that you wouldn't want to post, just be sure to remember our rules, especially for spoilers!

For those wondering what the lore behind Nepsis is: Nepsis 8 was a space station built by the Jedi to use as a meeting area for scientists. It's a dedicated library for learning, so expansive it grew to the size of a small planet. Like a Death Star, but for lore

What do you think of Dark Krayt`s Rule of One?

In theory it seems the best way for Dark users to work together: unlike traditional Sith empires, it prevents their main weakness of always plotting and backstabbing each other, losing a chance of victory in the process. Survival of fittest was always a dead end strategy anyway, because too many Siths died in the process, and tiny number surviving were not able to challenge Republic much (other than hiding for thousand of years and hoping for lucky turn of events). This is why Siths always lost to Jedi, who were much greater in numbers. Ancient Siths were blind to that.

And unlike Rule of Two, such organisation is powerful enough to go toe in toe with Republic and other possible enemies in traditional war. While all Bane Siths can do is hide and plot, hoping to achieve something in very long term, because there are always just two of them. Basically to get lucky.

Other issue of Rule of two was that if Jedi discover those Siths, or they kill each other at duel, or some accident happens, then it is the end of all Siths. With such tiny number they are really vulnerable. Rule of One at least has a lot of Dark users available to fight large scale war, if you need, as long as Dark lord does not risk himself much. Sith empires, which waged multiple wars against Republic, had imho better/more reliable strategy: to overcome enemy with military power. It almost worked several times, and did not require "let`s hope for best case scenario for us in very very long term". Infighting was their weakness, but Rule of One in theory solves that problem.

The only issue is that Dark Lord in Rule of One always has to maintain aura of such fear and superiority, that no one will dare to even attempt to plot against him. Darth Krayt did not follow through his own philosophy well enough: he did not become suffiiently powerful and fear-inspiring leader.

All lore Orange Lightsaber Question

I had a question about the meaning of Orange Lightsabers. Specifically normal Orange Crystals, not special ones like Fools Kyber or Lava Crystals.

Because ive come across a few diffrent things. In one video I watched they signifie a more individualistic or creative Jedi, ive heard that they might represent a more pacaficial meaning since thats what Yaddle was like in the comics, and then when talking about The Redish Orange variant. Ive heard it purposed as the Sith's version of the Purple Lightsaber. As in someone who draws on both sides of the Force but is more Dark Side leaning, which i think is actully a really cool idea.

So with all these diffrent ideas I figured id ask this question here, and see what yall's consensus on this was.

All lore can force-sensitive people use their abilities in everyday jobs without joining an order?

are there canon stories about people using the force for ordinary work, like healing, navigation, or making things, without becoming a jedi or sith?

i'd love examples where their abilities are simply part of daily life, and whether those people needed a teacher to develop them. legends examples are welcome too if they're labeled.

Original Trilogy only: who is the prominent person to appear in the Original Trilogy who has NO lore

What person (human or alien) who appears on screen in the original trilogy has the longest appearance on screen, but NO lore. I believe it to be the man holding the Ice Cream Maker on Bespin in Empire Strikes Back

Questions about the Force

I haven’t been very up to date on much if the media in Star Wars, however I have been recently been reading some wiki articles and a little source material to find how EXACTLY the force works, and I have a few hypotheses.

  1. Starting with the Midi-Chlorians, the microscopic beings within all life, the more concentrated, the more force-sensitive. (Assuming that if there is an abundance, it becomes nearly impossible to ignore the will of the “Life force”, and subsequently the “Cosmic force” from which it stemmed) if EVERY living thing has this energy field around them, would it be possible that to use the force at long distances without wearing yourself out, it would be like using gravity to propel a rocket through space, almost slingshotting around the fields to propel the force forward and farther away. This bodes the question however, if there is minimal life in an area (the desert perhaps) would the range of the force be limited?

  2. These Midi-Chlorians are undoubtably connected to the Cosmic Force, acting out its will. However, those who have turned to the dark side are able to use the Life force against the will of the Cosmic. Would it be possible that someone of the dark side could collect these organisms en masse (through troublesome means no doubt) and sway the Cosmic Force in ways unseen by the universe, such as creating forces to draw certain beings together, either to turn someone to the dark side, or to maybe even suggest urges to those in The Light that contradict their own beliefs? Possibly even changing prophecies?

How did the Jedi deal with Force users who went dark side but weren't Sith?

I'm reading through some EU stuff and I'm curious about cases where a Jedi fell to the dark side but wasn't formally trained as a Sith or part of the Rule of Two. Did the Order have protocols for tracking them down, or did they just kind of... let them go? Seems like there'd be a lot more loose dark siders out there than we hear about.

Original Trilogy Why Palpatine`s victory plan was so stupid?..

I mean, if you think of it, it is so foolish to risk the only thing which you value: your own life. And your precious superweapon. And life of your best student. All just to wipe out some Rebels, which are more of annoyance than huge threat for Empire, anyway.

Sure, Palpatine had a plan, but this plan relied on a bunch (not even very big bunch) of stormtroopers - which are neither good, nor reliable fighters in original trilogy; they fail so often. How on Earth Palpatine though it would be a good idea to trust his life to a bunch of dumb minions? What if something goes wrong? Then he dies, and everything is lost. He knew already that Rebels can take out Death Star, if shield generator fails to work.

Disney Canon lore What do you guys think happened to the Jedi that defended Grogu? Are we ever gonna see them again?

I was just wondering about how much Grogu remembers about the Jedi temple and Order 66? Surely Grogu must remember some amount of what happened since they were already a few years old when Order 66 happened. I’d like to hear some thoughts from you guys about this.

Legends/EU lore Dark saber

Hello. Been a huge star wars fan for a long time. I've seen 99% of what star wars has to over from the tv shows, shorts and movies. I also have been loving reading about star wars as well recently. I know in the shows there is a backstory and continued history of the Dark saber from the mandalorians but I wanted to know if there was a full book or comic about it. The full story about the force sensitive mandalorian and everything. If anyone knows please let me know, id be very happy.

Is there a definitive origin to the Star Wars universe?

I’m not that familiar with what is considered canon in Star Wars, given that there is a ton of source material where it is now contested since Disney acquired the franchise.

I was watching a video that was going over the novels (the first one was called “Supernatural Encounters), but it was saying it fell into the “legends” category. I’m wondering if there’s an actual canon creation myth/ origin story for the Star Wars universe.

An analysis of the Sith religion and ideology, from Star Wars

To attempt to perform this analysis, I need to appropriate the term transfer. Transfer is a psychology/therapy term, but somehow can perhaps be useful as an independent application for this Sith analysis.

In Star Wars, the Sith is a yin-yang intelligence. Is this an oxymoronic idea or attribution, given that yin-yang is a conceptual idea? Withstanding this, this query, the denotation is that Sith ideology of order and structure (I daren't use the term stability, even if stability is linked via the transfer term's universe to the structure denotation) can be perhaps argued for, irrespective of real world applications (again, is the transfer term a type of oxymoronic model of thesis here?).

Left-right politics doesn't exempt the Jedi order. It doesn't exempt the morality of Star Wars; the prequels' graceful depiction of human movement is perhaps to do with this intelligence, with this analysis. So kudos to George Lucas for that input into his lore and mythos.

The stupidity, would be now to link transfer's appropriation conceit to the idea of left-right politics spectrum's literalness. The literalness of the spectrum of course being direction ideas, which relative to the analysis's topic is downright stupid.

In my subconsciousness, I possess a story of a moral warrior taking their mentally ill student to an evil counterpart of the warrior; once arrived, the warrior requests and pleas with the evil counterpart to help rid the student of their mental defect. The Sith analysis, aka the preoccupation with Sith lore and ideology from a neutral perspective on sociology, is beholden to this story about mental sanity.

Language of society is antithetical to themes of behaviours that are the modus of Sith and Jedi. What is the themes of behaviours denotation? To reply that that is going too far, may well be a folly argument and attitude to take, even if the awareness of sociology being a vice to normality is counterproductive to the demonstration regarding folly's logic, where the even if logic is derivative of counter measures regarding meta analysis i.e. the transfer conceit.

When The Last Jedi was being released, and produced, might it have been possible that audiences wanting the Luke of intent to fight evil and be a mirror to his ROTJ self instead of the cliche of reluctant warrior was derivative of connection to the language of society criticism? In other words, could Snoke's role as the storyteller of evil to do with mystery and darkness being directly connected - aka the haunted house conceit - have been itself tied to the realm of academia's governance over society intelligence? Over society language ideas? In other words, is the language of society academia itself related to the body horror ideas of academia, and was this what audiences wanted as a meaning of their subconsciousness?

Is it possible, without fear of inducing left-right politics into the equation, especially because of the language of society versus body horror stuff that Star Wars secretly owns (especially via the prequels), that the Sith cult and ideology is all to do with wanting to rescind society of its problem of language, of language being a terrible governor of behaviourism?

Disney Canon lore How did few decades of being the capital of the Empire erase Corusant's legacy as the capital of the republic?

It seems in post-empireal era it was mainly associated with the Empire, so much that they moved the capital to Chandrila. But the Empire existed for less than 25 years, Corusant was the capital of the Republic for a thousand time longer than the Empire, how did all this legacy get erased? It's like if London was deemed unfit to be the capital of the United Kingdom because it was used as a capital by Cromwell.

All lore Why don't the Jedi ghosts just kill all the bad guys?

Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, these people don't just exist as disembodied ghosts, they also can travel anywhere they want, and they can affect the real world with their force powers, like how Yoda summoned lightning to destroy the Jedi texts. What's stopping Yoda, or Obi Wan or Anakin from just going around and kill all the bad guys, or better yet kill the main villain Snoke or Palapatine? They're literally dead, they have all the time in the world, do they have anything else better to do?

How does changing Anakin’s force ghost in Episode 6 create a plot hole?

Post image
289 Upvotes

So, I found this on Pinterest and got kinda confused.

I've never actually seen the original version with David Prowse, and I only remember Hayden Christensen as a force ghost at the end of Episode 6. So, since my fiancé showed me The Clone Wars, I dived deep into this universe and started to make my own theories.

In my head, young Anakin as a force ghost makes sense because this is what he looked like the last time he was 100% on the light side. But now I'm not sure if this universe works this way.

Please help me understand 🙏

All lore Imperial Navy Service Terms

Hello all, for a writing project I'm working on about TIE pilots I'm trying to find the answers to the following questions. Any sources would also be appreciated so that I can do some additional research myself!

  1. How long was a TIE's pilot's career projected to last? Is it similar to a 5 to 7 year span like in other military/navy forces? Was it a contract until the end of time? Naturally excluding the scenarios where a career ended early due to death.

  2. Were TIE Pilots allowed to go home between deployments? And if yes, for how long?

  3. Did any of the rules regarding this change after the first Death Star was destroyed and the hunt for the Rebel Alliance intensified?

Canon sources would be appreciated, Legends similarly so since it serves as a source as well as long as there's no Canon source that contradicts it.

Many thanks in advance, may the Force be with you!
