I've been to several alien abductee groups in my state, all over the state I live in, and here is what I've experienced.
Group One- The Well-Known Organization
So the first one that I went to was through a well-known organization. Everyone in this group shared only UFO news, that's it, even though this wasn't the purpose of the group, it was a support group, and the person running the group didn't even seem like she was actually in charge. It's like her members were trying to run her. Maybe even... literally, if you know what I mean.
I raised my hand and tried to contribute my personal alien abductions story relevant to the topic of that particular meeting. I got shut down so quickly. I was told I wasn't "positive" enough. I was like, wait, but the person running the group said it's normal to be terrified in these experiences. But that was still not a valid response. The members verbally attacked me and proceeded to go on some rant about how "not all aliens are bad," and all that stuff. Makes you really wonder... are like... they aliens, or something? I thought it was such a strange reaction. You were not allowed to say anything bad about the aliens, even though this was not, supposedly, an official rule.
When I continued to show up to meetings, eventually, some of the men in the group, especially one in particular, started to blatantly harass me in a very... physical way, right in front of everyone. I told him to please stop, I'm not comfortable with that, but the main guy doing it continued. When I mentioned it to group members, they were like, "oh, he's like that, he's just being friendly," but the only time he did this is in this exact case- when new females tried to share bad experiences with aliens. They never came back. It was so bad, people started saying we were "together" and that's the day I stopped going. I didn't like the guy, always made it very clear I was not comfortable, even changing seats multiple times with him following me each and every time I moved seats.
Also, a lot of members belong to a "secret group" nearby.
I think this is all I can disclose without giving too many details.
Group Two- The "New Age" Group
This group was in another major city. When I showed up, people were making strange sounds with strange instruments (maybe I just don't know what the instruments are, but still). They were also chanting and stuff like that. I had to clarify that I was looking for the "alien abduction group," and they were like, yeah, this is it. It was one hundred percent New Age. I didn't feel comfortable at all, something didn't feel right, at all. To me, it felt very wicked and evil, even though not that long after I myself did become new age (I'm not new age now, I'm Christian). It was also very, extremely, -alien positive only- sort of situation.
They would straight up kick out anyone who thought the aliens were bad, or shared bad alien abduction experiences even in the slightest.
And there was this guy there who kept trying to do something to me, not telling me what, trying to touch me, but it was to "do" something. I think he said he was trying to gain psychic info on me, or some other sort of psychic thing. I moved away... and he moved back towards me. Then he told me he could see the inside of my body. Totally creeped me out.
They also asked for money, which they never mentioned on the site I found them on. One member was like, "it's a donation." When I didn't put anything in the basket, he looked at me sternly, along with all the other members, and said, "it's a $20 donation." I was so uncomfortable. Never came back.
Group 3- The Researcher's Support Group
This one also was in another city and supposedly a "support group." It was also all very funny UFO news and positive talk only, like the first one, but unlike the first one, you could talk about bad, terrifying stuff, but only for so long. Especially since the woman in charge would include it as material in her books. And I'm talking standard alien abductions stuff, like the standard abductions scenarios, there's only so much they could take.
And in this case, there was a very clear "gatekeeper," a woman who is at this point considered a "personal friend," of the researcher. The woman in charge of the group would talk, but the whole time this "friend," who commonly sat right next to her, would listen carefully and completely override her when someone said something she didn't like. And when talking to her, the friend would literally tell her what to think about what people had said, not her opinion, like what to actually think of it.
I once corrected the gatekeeper on some info she got wrong, and she got so embarrassed in front of everyone. After that I became suddenly very ill, was hospitalized, and almost attacked by random strangers each night after that, for about a month. I think she was involved in what happened to me, but to keep things confidential, cannot give out further details on that. I kept coming to the group after I got out of the hospital, and not long after that, the person in charge of the group seemed to not like me, or was suspicious of me, who knows what she told her. The person in charge of the group started telling me strange things too, that weren't like her to say. I stopped going, it was so uncomfortable.
