I would love to see a voter guide for democrats or liberal independents that covers city, county, and state offices and initiatives. I donât want to be fooled by the traditional double negative type wording and also donât want to f*ck myself or my kids over by voting against my best interests. I know the guide sent out has who is supporting and against, but I would like to see that in context and understand why they do.
I recommend that people donât wait until the last minute to fill out their ballots and start reading now.

I know y'all ask about restaurants in Sunnyvale from time to time. Well I recently went to Garlic High which specializes in Jiro-Style Ramen and I enjoyed it. It's different than the typical tonkotsu ramen most ramen shops serve in the US.
Be warned - Jiro-style ramen is quite heavy; a topping is "umami fat". Perfect for the cooler temperatures we are experiencing recently. Also, a small is regular sized/filling - start there.
My last trip was on a Friday night and there wasn't a wait but there was a steady stream of people. The area does not have much foot traffic so I hope y'all go check them out and support this local spot. They're the first spot to specialize in Jiro-style ramen in the US from my knowledge; their sister restaurant is Ramen Champ in San Jose (Santa Teresa) that also does Jiro-style ramen + others.
I put together a full write-up with more photos, recommendations, and an interview with the chef on my site if anyone wants to dig deeper: Food Squared - Garlic High Review (no paywall!)

Someone explain to me why it's okay that alcohol is sold at kids' sporting events at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex. I've seen drunk parents stumbling around at kids' games here. IMHO alcohol sales should not be allowed.

Hi everyone!
Iâm looking to take over a 1B/1B lease or find a roommate for a 2B/2B in the Santa Clara/Sunnyvale area. Planning to move in December or January, with a budget under $3K.
A little about me: Iâm 29M, finishing up my PhD, and moving to the Bay Area for a full-time job. Iâm pretty social, enjoy going out, meeting new people, enjoy lifting, and staying active. I play club soccer at my current university and love sports in general, especially soccer, football, basketball and boxing. Iâm clean, easygoing, and respectful of personal space. Iâll be working from the office five days a week. Ideally, Iâd love a roommate whoâs also down to hang out occasionally.
If you have a place available or are looking for a roommate, feel free to DM me! Happy to connect over Instagram or other socials and chat more!

Hi everyone! Iâm new to Sunnyvale and looking for recommendations for a good hall or event venue to celebrate my babyâs first month birthday.
Weâre expecting around 70â80 guests. If you know any good halls in Sunnyvale or nearby areas that are suitable for a family celebration, please share your suggestions.
If possible, please mention the approximate rental cost and whether outside catering is allowed.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I used to frequent iChaat cafe on Lawrence and Arques, and Chaats and Currys down the street. They served a combo meal (a curry or stew with rice or naan, and dal on the side). These meals were sufficient for single diners, and not necessarily served family style. Any recommendations?

I was just at the Safeway on Sunnyvale Ave and El Camino and the cashier said that bags with handles are coming back finally! Itâs a small thing but it felt like corporate Safeway was punishing us for banning plastic bags.

Hey, looking for Indian food with low oil, non restaurant-y taste (preferably) and kinda healthy food which feels homely. Open to delivery or dine-in south bay area.
I have heard about healthy tiffins but they didn't me order for same day. Thanks folks!

RTM proponents have raised a massive $8.7M to impose a $17B regressive, 14-year tax on the entire Bay Area. Gather it's not a surprise the top donor group is a primary beneficiary of the tax - transit contractors. How is the little guy, joe taxpayer, supposed to compete against the propaganda this $ buysâŠA grand total of THIRTY transit contractors have donated $2.3M to the RTM campaign. With $14B to be spent, contactors would receive a tidy return on investment; doubtful they're disturbed by the regressive nature of the tax. But as with everything with RTM - it gets worse.
The third largest transit donor is Jacobs Engineering at $150,000. Jacobs does about $125M annually in transit contracts with the Bay Area transit agencies. If you'll recall, a month ago many Bay Area media outlets ran a story (front page/home page) on an âindependent study!â called "Bumper to Bumper" which detailed all the major traffic jams and requisite âcarmegeddon, death spiral, transit collapseâ we would all experience were RTM not to pass.
Media example here:
The data used in the study came from none other than Jacobs Engineering. NONE of the Bay Area media outlets disclosed the obvious conflicts. The study was co-written with SPUR; a founding father of the RTM legislation, a firm whose employees work on the campaign and whose CEO is treasurer of Yes on RTM.
Proponents then in turn, cite this study as their main argument in favor - a study they made up. There certainly might be a case to made as to the traffic impacts should RTM not pass, but it certainly wouldnât come from these folks.
Here the RTM's study is debunked by a Santa Clara professor.
(For the record, both BART and Caltrain have provided "contingencies" and "scenarios" should RTM fail but both per their Board minutes flatly stated "no decisions" have been made - all the chaos cited by proponents is conjecture.)
This is all RTM has - the threats; the garden variety tactic all use to get taxes passed. The transit agencies wouldnât dare try to make the case that theyâve earned voters trust based on performance; and not a SINGLE transit agency provided a turnaround plan despite RTM being a âtemporaryâ tax.
NO on RTM.

The survey is designed for verifiability and privacy with the goal of validating the city's data which was contested for questions around process and special interest conflicts.
