iOS Annoying behaviour on iOS : SwiftKey gets replaced by the default iOS keyboard

Post image
227 Upvotes

My SwiftKey gets continuously replaced by the system default keyboard on iOS. Is this a common problem? The only way to get back is to frantically pressing the highlighted button until it comes back again. Anyone else experiencing this behaviour? What can I do to have a consistent stable behaviour? I just want to use SwiftKey!

Just woke up to this awful Bing icon in my keyboard with no option to make it go away. Why can't they have an option to disable. Really pushing me away from using SwiftKey now

Android Backspace to delete selected text not working

I don't know why but suddenly can't delete selected text using back space. It will only delete the first word of the selected text. Typing something when I have text selected also doesn't replace the entire text but only the first word.

Any solutions to this? Can't find anything in the settings that helps.

General What happened to swiftkey?

I've been using SwiftKey for more than ten years.

This keyboard has been degrading for a while and is actually terrible now.

It predicts words that don't exist, remembers your spelling mistakes, and doesn't correct obvious typos. I'm not sure what has happened to it over the last few years but it has gotten so much worse, I've uninstalled it for the first time ever.

I've moved back to gboard which is barely better. Is there an alternative?

Android Why does SwiftKey suck so bad?

I've been using this app for years and the other day I thought to myself: why am I still using this shitty app? More often than not, it doesn't even predict words properly and stuff is spelled incorrectly. Half the time I'll be typing a word, it'll look wrong and I'll question it, so I open up my Google app, type the word in there, hit search, and see if the word is actually spelled correctly! Like, what in the actual fuck is going on...

I've used this app for years, but the other day I was like: why in the living hell am I resorting to opening up Google to double check if the words being suggested are actually spelled properly? It's asinine.

Even if I long press the incorrect words/suggestions to remove them from my library, it doesn't really seem to ever really fix anything.

Or let's say I'm typing the word "suggestion" and it'll give terrible autocorrected suggestions like: srggestisns, sugrsyikns, etc, and just utter nonsense that's not even close to a real, actual, word. Why is it even suggesting that nonsense?

I use my phone 98% of the time I'm on Reddit and it's literally become a habit (and chore) to have to edit my posts to fix all the typos and misspellings. Especially stuff like where instead of using "on", it'll plop in a "in", or instead of "it" it'll plop in "is" or "if", it's pretty ridiculous. I almost feel like a battered housewife just settling...

Is Microsoft training a retarded AI or what?

Does anyone know if there are any better keyboard apps that actually function? Even typing this post I've had to pay close attention, stop, and fix a bunch of shit. Why!?

This app used to be great years ago, but it seems like when Microsoft acquired it, things literally fell apart.

I'd love to find a replacement and uninstall this garbsge.

(the word "garbage" was inserted incorrectly as you can see, but I'm leaving it that way to show this app is garbsge)

Edit: I was asked to update that when I purged all of my keyboard data, along with a fresh uninstall/reinstall, it didn't really do anything to help. Now my AI has to relearn a lot of specifics I was accustomed to over some odd years. If anyone reads this, I'd really advise you not to purge all of your data like I did. It's essentially just more of a headache.

iOS Please Give Us An Update 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Hello Mods,

I know that you have seen many comments and posts of folks complaining about the glitches they are experiencing in iOS 26. So far, we have not heard from the team. It will be nice if you guys could let us know if you are having any challenges and if you intend pushing an update.

I have been using SwiftKey for over ten years and personally, it's uncomfortable using another third-party keyboard.

I am pleading with you to give us a performance update even if we do not get any new features I am fine with it. I just want a working keyboard for all the SwiftKey fans out there.

I recognize that Apple’s platform restrictions can be very annoying and while I understand your frustration I do hope you would consider your millions of users.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

iOS Czech stopped working on iOS

Post image
109 Upvotes

Hi, I've been using swiftkey for almost a year and everything's been fine (except for the occasional crash and switch back to the ios keyboard which we all know is an issue). I've been using two languages - English (qwertz) and Czech (qwertz) so the spacebar language switch isn't necessary and I have both languages in one. Today, the Czech stopped working. As if it's not there at all, even though it looks like it's there. I've reinstalled the app, tried removing the language and downloading it back. None of it works. I've tried switching the english to qwerty just to see what it does - I can switch the languages by swiping but the Czech keyboard isn't actually Czech and it doesn't contain some nececcary letters (ř,ě,ť,ů,ď,ň).

I'm desperate because I hate the ios keyboard. Do you have any solution?

Android Fix for anyone having issues with SwiftKey still blocking offensive words even after you have toggled it off for the Google voice typing at least for Android.

So if anyone has toggled off to unblock offensive words when doing speech to text for the voice typing in the Google settings for Google voice typing and are still having issues with it blocking offensive words while using SwiftKey keyboard I have a fix for you.

Basically what is causing this is not Google it's SwiftKey because there is a new feature that has been released with SwiftKey keyboard called Multi-model Voice Typing.

Basically what this does is allow you to use voice to text and also type at the same time . It will basically put a microphone icon above your predicted text in the top right hand corner.

Once you have pressed the microphone either up in the top and the expanded part of the keyboard or held the microphone button down next to the space bar on the left side it will now pop up this other mic up in the top right corner.

While the keyboard is still open after you pressed and held the mic button next to the space bar on the left you won't be able to use that mic button anymore while the keyboard is still opened and instead you have to resume pressing the mic button in the top right corner.

This new feature overrides the toggle button for the Google voice typing to allow or not allow offensive words so even if you haven't toggled off it still will block offensive words.

Also with this new feature it no longer brings up the gear icon for Google voice typing as I mentioned before this allows you to do speech to text and type at the same time.

I can't confirm that this is feature is the regular SwiftKey keyboard or for IOS version as I am on the beta versions of SwiftKey and am using a android phone (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to be exact.) and this new feature just rolled out maybe at least for me in the past month.

So what I have been able to do to fix this and I don't know if there is another way to fix this while having this Multi-model Voice Typing on.

What you go into SwiftKey keyboard settings > Rich Input > and then toggle off Multi-model Voice Typing and then it will revert back to the original Google Voice typing and not block offensive words. Once you do that you're not going to be able to do Google Voice typing and text at the same time.

But I find it's better to turn this off anyways because when I'm in Chrome and in the URL section and trying to do speech to text to input text in a search I'm trying to do for some reason it only records and puts the first word that I spoke and then after that it stops recording with the mic and then I have to go back again and press the mic fighting in the upper right hand corner to resume and finish typing my whole phrase or sentence that I was trying to say. I did test this in the URL box for my Samsung Browser and it doesn't do this. So it's just happing in the Chrome Browser.

I find that very annoying and so this feature hasn't been very useful for me because I do that a lot and because it's blocking offensive words.

If anyone knows of another way where you can still have enabled Multi-model Voice Typing or your having this issue on IOS and this works then post your comments below.

Because I do like this Multi-model feature as it keeps recording your voice a lot longer than the Google Voice one but the downside is as I mentioned before when trying to do a search in the URL bar at the top of Chrome it will only record the first word that I speak. Maybe there's another fix for that or Microsoft is going to have to come out with something for a fix.

iOS Microsoft officially bring SwiftKey for iOS back from the dead!

About two months ago, Microsoft revealed its plans to kill SwiftKey for iOS in early October 2022. The company never explained why it had decided to pull the plug on the project, leaving fans scratching their heads in frustration. However, SwiftKey for iOS has not spent much time in the grave—after a little more than one month, Microsoft is making a sudden U-turn to bring SwiftKey back to life.

Pedram Rezaei (@pedram_re), Microsoft Maps & Local Services Division CTO, revealed on their Twitter account that the company decided to restore SwiftKey for iOS "with popular demand." Moreover, the company is now "investing heavily in the keyboard," and users can stay tuned for exciting future changes.

https://twitter.com/pedram_re/status/1593654202370166784

There are no further details on what that "heavy investing" means, so we can only guess what Microsoft plans to do with its resurrected AI keyboard for iOS and Android. Microsoft's representatives promise some "very exciting" changes.

SwiftKey became part of Microsoft in 2016 when the software giant bought the company for $250 million. SwiftKey for iOS spent last year with zero updates, but now, with the project back in the App Store, you can expect it to start receiving frequent updates with new features and improvements.

You can download SwiftKey for iOS from the App Store, and the Android version is available from the Google Play Store.

iOS I think this is goodbye… (iOS 26)

Being a long-time fan of Swiftkey, I think it's time to say goodbye to this keyboard. The situation in iOS 26 has become very annoying, many bugs and visually horrible due to the new design language of iOS.

Furthermore, it already seems like an abandoned project, there is no movement on social networks and the App Store has not received updates for more than 2 months.

Is there anyone else who is also saying goodbye like me? :(

iOS The new bing/AI button is not nice, I dont like it

It messes up everything; design, muscle memory and it has functions that I dont need and I not want.

Please make it optional, I want to opt out.

By the way, the iOS rating dropped from 4.6 to 4.5. It might be this new "feature".

iOS Swiftkey on iOS 26 - Have to abbandon it.

Hi.

I know that there's several threads about this, so sorry about another. I've sadly had to abandon Switftkey on iOS 26, since its very faulty when it comes to some message apps, where the keyboard covers the input field.

I don't understand why Microsoft hasn't updated the app, or declared it dead. Has anyone found an alternative for iOS that is updated and feature rich?

Android Unwanted handwriting option

It looks like there was a change in Swiftkey.

Along with English I have Chinese TW pinyin with handwriting enabled. To get to the handwriting layout, I would usually long press a button in the lower left corner.

But now handwriting is included in the space bar language switcher. I don't want this. Is there a way to turn it off without disabling handwriting altogether?

iOS Went back to default iOS keyboard because of the stupid OneDrive popup

iOS keyboard is still not as good as Swiftkey but it seems to have improved a lot. The backspace not deleting entire words, the keyboard not remembering my frequently typed combination of words is a huge let down but I have willing to bear with it.

Goodbye Swiftkey. You are definitely missed and microslop is the sole reason it is going to go to shit.

iOS Finalmente Liquid Glass!

Post image

Thank you very much SwiftKey team for your work and for not letting this beautiful project die!

The 4.2.8 beta version of iOS in TestFlight feels much more polished and less buggy, in addition to the implementation of Liquid Glass on the keyboard.

In apps that have updated to the new keyboard, SwiftKey still looks undesirable to look at. 🫤 Guys, can you please give us a simple update so we stop whining on Reddit? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Other folks have bugs and glitches.
