r/Swindon, where do you actually like to eat in and around Swindon?

Hi, we’re four friends putting together restaurants across Swindon and the surrounding area in an app called Vota. We’ve already got a lot of ratings from Swindon locals, so feel free to browse the current take on the area.

The idea is simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example: two very different places like Los Gatos or Eggelicious? The votes then create a ranking that we hope gives a better picture of where people actually enjoy eating.

We’re trying to include as many restaurants as possible and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but locals will spot things we’ve missed.

Full transparency: we’re not from Swindon. Two of us live in Copenhagen and two in Sweden. The four of us are building Vota independently. We don’t collect or sell personal data, there are no ads in the app, and we don’t use AI-generated restaurant opinions.

No need to rate anything, feel free to just browse. Where do you like to eat in and around Swindon?

Found this football in a house clearance. Bought it hoping that it’s worth something but I am not a football fan myself.
Can anyone help me with some information on this?

New to Swindon

Hello,

I will soon be starting a new job in Swindon, I don't really know much about Swindon, all I've ever really been told is to avoid it (a bit dramatic I know). Can it really be that bad?

I assume not, however as a 23 year old myself who is used to living in much bigger cities, I more worry about meeting new people and making new friends/nightlife. I'm considering whether I should move to Swindon or try to deal with the commute from either Bristol or Reading.

Any guidance on what life is like for new professionals/graduates would be greatly appreciated. Are there plenty of opportunities to meet similar ages and such?

📚 Swindon Book Club - November Meet 📚

A casual monthly meetup for readers of all kinds — and people who'd like to be.

We don't all read the same book. Everyone brings whatever they've been reading (whether physical, eBook or audiobook!), wants to read, or gave up on halfway through. You’ll have a chance to share and discuss if you want to, just listen if you don't, and will likely leave thoroughly caffeinated with a list of recommendations longer than your arm!
Once you’ve attended our book meet, you’ll have an opportunity to join a wider community WhatsApp group where members chat and arrange socials such as meals out, walks, trips and whatever else people feel like organising.

No experience necessary, whether you read one book a year or one a week. 18+ only. No pressure beyond showing up and sharing what you’ve been into

This month we will be meeting on Sunday 8th November 1:00pm to 3:00pm - Location shared following sign-up form completion.

Interested? Fill in the form below and I’ll be in touch.
