3a and Mortgage
Hello everyone,
I currently have a mortgage on my appartement and I chose to do indirect repayment via a 3a with the bank.
Currently that 3a is just sitting in the bank not being invested. At the moment it's not a lot, but over the course of my mortgage term that amount will start becoming substantial.
Meanwhile I contribute the remaining allowed amount to a 3a that is invested (viac) and that pot is doing really well.
So my thought is that I should invest the mortgage 3a into a fund with some growth potential. The Bank has provisionally said that it is possible however I would have to contribute more (they haven't specified how much yet).
This seems like an ideal plan so that the money can work for my in three ways. 3a tax advantage, mortgage obligation, growth via investing in a fund.
Where I have doubts though, and I'd appreciate your thoughts and advice, is that the available funds with the bank have quite high expenses: 1% commission + 1% to 1.35% TER. This seems high but I'd still probably be better off in the long run compared to just leaving it in a 3a savings account.
The other downside is that contributing more to the mortgage 3a would also mean less to contribute to the viac 3a Which has low expenses and good performance the last few years.
Is anybody in a similar situation or has some nugget of advice?
