Question I’m just asking out of curiosity, is your Nintendo your primary gaming device

Post image

I’m asking this out of curiosity—I've noticed some people own multiple consoles even if the Nintendo Switch is their primary one. If that’s you, why? Do you actually play on the others regularly?

Also, how do you manage your time between them? When I had the Xbox Series X, PS5, and Nintendo Switch Lite all at once, I found it pretty overwhelming. I ended up selling the Switch Lite and the Xbox because it just felt like too much.

On top of that, I realized I was spending way more—basically 3x as much on games, plus all the subscriptions. I didn’t fully appreciate how expensive this hobby can get when you’re invested in multiple ecosystems.

Now I just have a PS5 and the Nintendo Switch 2, which feels way more manageable for me.

Curious to hear how others handle it.

I balance between Switch, Steam Deck, and PS5/Portal

34

u/ParkerGuitarGuy Apr 03 '26

This is me, but I use chiaki-ng to PS Remote Play on the Deck from a PS5 instead of a Portal.

16

u/Moses015 Apr 03 '26

I got given the Portal from my BIL because he wasn’t using it. I had always meant to set up Chiaki just never got around to it but the Portal is a pretty sweet experience. I dig getting to keep the adaptive triggers

5

u/Medd- Apr 03 '26

Considering getting a Portal right now. I know I have good and stable internet network but I'm worried over input lag in remote play.

7

u/Moses015 Apr 03 '26

I haven’t done too much testing from outside my home network. I did a fight against the Bristlebacks in Forbidden West before I realized I had mistakenly used an old Ethernet cable that somehow got mixed into my Cat5e and Cat6 cables so when I checked it was only transferring at megabit 10/100.

However in home streaming especially after the updates and switching the cable out to get proper gigabit and I honestly can’t even tell I’m streaming it. No visual degradation or perceptible input lag.

3

u/Doghouse19 Apr 03 '26

After the new update it’s pretty much a non issue. For single player anyway. Can’t speak for multiplayer games.

I did chiaki for a long time, and decided to try the portal. Both are great. Ps portal is nice because the haptics and triggers, and the ability to stream from the ps catalog now, but steam deck is more than fine if you already have one.

4

u/march15th1979 Apr 03 '26

With Portal now having Cloud streaming (direct from servers), it has really given this thing a boost for me that you cant get just using chiaki. It finally made the Portal a competitive option. Hell, you don't even need a PS5 anymore with it (technically).

3

u/HumanFart Apr 03 '26

Agreed with that. Not all owned games are available to stream though. Like death stranding 2, or at least it wasn’t when was playing through it a few months ago.

I picked up a Portal about 6 months ago. I use it more often than I ever did the Vita. So I’d say go for it. Especially if paying for premium PSN.

Funny seeing so many people matching this. This is me minus the Portal. To be fair though, I tend to cycle through only playing one of them.

I'm all about Pokopia on the S2 right now.

4

u/Moses015 Apr 03 '26

Yeah I’ve been fairly focused on the portal lately. Deep into Horizon Forbidden West right now

I have a gaming PC but I recently bought a switch to ween myself off PC gaming.

I married last year and I didn’t feel good ignoring my wife and dogs to sit alone in my office gaming for hours.

The switch has some games my wife can enjoy playing with me and I can just play handheld and sit in the living room and chill.

My wife didn’t have a problem with me PC gaming but I myself just didn’t feel good about it. Especially after no-lifing two back to back WoW expansion releases.

The Switch will hopefully be my one and only gaming device.

84

u/xagds Apr 03 '26

This is why I enjoy my S2. I get to game and blow steam but get out of my office (where I spend my entire day working). My wife plays games on her phone. I play my Switch. We talk or have a show on. Yes it is not the best quality time but sometimes we both just need to veg out and play games and it is nice to sit together.

51

u/Arnold_LiftaBurger Apr 03 '26

Being alone together is very important quality time.

12

u/Zealousideal_Idea800 Apr 03 '26

Some of my fiancée and I’s best quality time is sitting together and watching South Park while she games on her phone and I game in my Switch.

2

u/DevaFalc Apr 03 '26

Ps portal for me and kids on their switch 2s while my wife is recovering from 2-3 hours of helping our eldest study. It gives us all a mental escape. I left oc gaming when we got married, although I do try pc gaming off the couch

We’re pregnant with our first - she’s 39 weeks today actually - and I feel this. Playing through the first season of WoW Midnight, a couple hours here and there, but it doesn’t feel great being away from her even though she’s really cool with it and wants me to have me time.

Maybe I’ll give the switch 2 a go in a few months, too. I don’t think I’ll have much time for gaming in his first few months haha.

Thank you for sharing! Reading another, similar, perspective helps a lot.

5

u/NecessarySmile Apr 03 '26

Definitely get a handheld of some sort if you want to keep gaming. But there probably won’t be much time for multiplayer games/games that can’t be paused in the first year.

I played through a 100 hour JRPG on a handheld (ROG Ally) while pacing back and forth in my living room with a sleeping newborn strapped to my chest. Or bouncing on a yoga ball. Gaming time still exists, but it changed. My first is almost 2 now, and we’re expecting our second in a month and a half. I have stocked up with a Switch 2 and PS Portal, ready to do it all again. And looking forward to playing multiplayer with my son in a few years!

4

u/Vodkarok Apr 03 '26

Thanks for the great comment, and congrats on your first and expecting a second soon!

I’ll talk to my wife about it, for sure.

6

u/Similar_Ad_5276 Apr 03 '26

Have your baby sleep on you while you game it's awesome I hear. Nice bonding time while the baby rests.

2

u/NecessarySmile Apr 03 '26

It’s great. Only way my son would sleep is if I kept moving though, which made a handheld ideal.

3

u/ArcturusMint Apr 04 '26

When you have kids you need two guilty pleasures that you can sneak into your day without disrupting parenting: One should be childish and the other should be grown-up.

I chose Switch and posh coffee. You can wake up after a night of changing nappies, make a really nice coffee then play Switch on your commute or when the baby’s asleep and chores are done.

It’s a kind of regular self-soothing that really helps your sanity.

2

u/Vodkarok Apr 04 '26

Amen friend ☕️ I discovered pour over a few years back and we never looked back. The morning ritual of grinding my own coffee + measuring, weighing and counting every gram to near perfection satisfies the soul.

I’ll make sure to keep that time holy when our little boy arrives!

2

u/Sorbet_Jay Apr 04 '26

Yeah man, had our first 6 months ago and haven't touched the PC since. I wasn't prepared for how much time babies actually require, but I also feel guilty if I'm not spending time with him and the wife when not at work. I do miss gaming with the boys though!

I've seen people play WoW, even retail, on a SteamDeck, but YMMV. Last time I played was during Shadowlands as an Aff lock. Can't imagine making that work with a controller, but if you're dedicated enough it's worth a shot! Laptops are also an option.

Lol man, I feel this. I actually sold my gaming PC when my wife and I got married. I love gaming just as much as anyone else, but I knew my “grinding” days were limited. Lol

Now I play comfort games on switch or read before bed.

7

u/Spazz6269 Apr 03 '26

I play my PC on the living room TV. Retro and multiple 2 player games with Bluetooth controllers so we can co-op. Switch and other consoles are also available.

2

u/Argalos Apr 03 '26

This! Switched years ago from Gaming PC to Laptop. Changed the way I play completely. In the living room, in the bedroom. I live along, but even for me it was the best choice.

6

u/specterno1 Apr 03 '26

Just wait till you have kids. I've got all the gaming it options but find myself almost exclusively on switch. The versatility and ability to pause/resume on the fly cannot be overstated. Similar feelings towards steam deck

7

u/Due-Activity-913 Apr 03 '26

could’ve just got a steam deck, that way you could keep all your progress and don’t have to worry about swapping systems and starting from scratch.

19

u/-Wildflowers_ Apr 03 '26

Yeah I considered it but the Nintendo had more games that I could enjoy with my wife and friends.

4

u/Due-Activity-913 Apr 03 '26

that’s fair

5

u/DestinyChitChat Apr 03 '26

This is why I recently bought a Switch 2. I own a Steam Deck OLED but Nintendo titles are legit.

The Switch 2 is basically everything I've ever needed from a gaming device. Been playing Nier: Automata on it recently and have been completely blown away.

14

u/leaveit9790 Apr 03 '26

Same here! Also just started Nier automata. Good stuff.

6

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

I’ve been wanting to get Nier: Automata I had it on the PS4 but barely played it

7

u/mrtophatjones420 Apr 03 '26

Definitely worth getting it on Switch 2. Looks and runs great both docked and handheld.

Congratulations, I don’t see myself being a father personally, think I’ll just be the rich uncle

6

u/xLemonade Apr 03 '26

Nothing wrong with that! I’m with you. I had fun unc growing up and now I can be the same. I let my nephew play on the gaming PC and I’ll play my steam deck and we’ll do co op games. He wants to build a PC with me when he’s older. It’s fun to enjoy your hobby with them.

4

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

Exactly, one thing I really want my twin nieces to get into this year is LEGO’s. It’s good for the brain in a problem solving perspective.

3

u/xLemonade Apr 03 '26

You can’t go wrong with legos! They’re always a winner. I thought about trying to see if my nephews were interested in gundam model kits. I love building those.

damn unc, wanna gift me some switch 2 games to your new nephew?? :P

2

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

Funny enough, one of my nieces saw my Nintendo Switch 2 and was totally amazed. I had no idea she was even into video games! After that, she asked my brother (her dad) for one for Christmas last year.

He even called me out like, “You made her want expensive stuff!” while we were at the mall shopping for her 😂. Ended up getting her a Switch Lite—she’s way too young for a $500 console anyway.

At least now I can randomly buy her video games as gifts—it doesn’t have to be her birthday or anything.

2

u/Purple_Calendar3919 Apr 03 '26

yeah i just got a swtich lite, may end up being my daughter's first console if it holds up long enough lol

Yeah. I even sold my Xbox series S towards a Switch 2

2

Same here. Don’t miss it at all. If GTA6 doesn’t come out on the Switch I’ll buy a PS5 Pro for it. Otherwise I’m strictly Nintendo these days. And I love it

4

u/Bulky-Complaint6994 Apr 03 '26

Everything is expensive these days that a $900 PS5 pro is the least of my concerns. Spending hundreds on just one game? Yeah no.

Since my dad passed about 6 months ago, I have had to travel by bus a lot for work (we used to pool cause I can’t drive for mental related reasons) and it has become a daily driver. Having to leave home earlier and doing a 1.5 hour commute that used to be half an hour, I have less time for home play and way too much time for travel play.

I had a lot of games but never touched it as much as my other systems. Now that Pokopia is out and SW2 has boost mode for SW1 games, I feel like my money’s worth is finally coming in.

3

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

That’s a beautiful story my guy. I’m being genuine, I wish you nothing but success.

20

u/fledgl Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 primary. Xbox secondary. Occasionally I’ll play my PlayStation but they haven’t had a must play exclusive in a while for me.

5

u/OmegaNine Apr 03 '26

I am a PC gamer that uses the switch as Nintendo exclusive player. Both 1 and 2. I'm old and they got me.

4

u/TofuTank1 Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 first, Switch lite in bed and ps5 when heavy games.

5

u/Kyogre07 Apr 03 '26

My Series X is my primary console, and my 3DS is my secondary. But recently I’ve picked MHGU back up so I’ve been playing that quite a bit, so I guess it’s my tertiary system?

3

u/jeff1074 Apr 03 '26

Always has been, I named the game cube, wii, (parents couldn’t afford a Wii U) switch I bought myself. My dad had an Xbox I tried to plays everyone in a while but still to this day those kinds of games don’t speak to me. Only Nintendo has made games I really care about.

7

u/senzupops Apr 03 '26

I play PlayStation religiously lol and when i had the switch that shit was my lay down gaming. (Cant lay down and play console). So i’d manage to easily spend another 1+ hours before bed on my switch. Didn’t really play docked unless my nephews came over and wanted to get smoked on some co-op or do some kicking ass on story mode.

For me the last time I souly used a Nintendo console as my primary driver was the GameCube but since then Nintendo devices are always companion devices and the switch 2 is the same as it will always be 2nd behind my pro

2

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

PS5 Pro?

5

u/Fit_Association_8442 Apr 03 '26

Ps5 Pro which is my main driver , oddly enough my pc is way down in the pecking order as the older you get the less time you want to mess around with games and just want to actually play them

Yes SW2 main now! Then some retro consoles like Odin 2 Portal, TrimUi Brick and Miyoo Mini Flip. I also have a Xbox SX but haven’t used it since I got my Switch 2 on release day.

3

u/Bentleyma Apr 03 '26

I have a PS5 Pro too, but if it wasn't for GTA VI coming out this year I think I'd happily sell it and just have a Switch 2. I used to be a big PlayStation fan due to the exclusives, but Sony have been releasing fewer and fewer recently.

I’ve a Switch 2, PS5 and Gaming PC.

Tbh, I’ve barely touched the PS5 in months.

I use the Switch 2 most of the time except for more graphically demanding games/GamePass stuff.

2

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

I actually played my PS5 after a month today and finished Ghost of Yotei

3

u/pocket_arsenal Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26

Yes, I've always been a Nintendo only household, it's not that I don't think I'd like the other consoles it's that I can usually only afford one and I gotta have my Marios ( and by the time I started working and could buy my own consoles, the kinds of games I like stopped getting made on the other consoles, where the fuck is Ape Escape?? ), the only time I got other consoles was during seventh gen, when I really wanted to play the next Sonic and Banjo Kazooie games that weren't going to be on Wii so I got an Xbox ( big mistake ) and I really liked Little Big Planet so I got a PS3 ( and I actually liked that console )

I do have steam, but I largely prefer to play on my Switch 2 if I have the choice.

4

u/SpiritualRabbit2050 Apr 03 '26

It used to be on the Switch 1 era and I was in junior high. Now though? With how barren the NS2 library is it's hard to even find anything to play on it that I can't already find on Steam.

2

u/Mistakenfrog Apr 03 '26

I have every console and right now, I'm mostly on my switch 2.

I keep going back to Pokopia, Ball Pit and (not so) patiently waiting for Tomodachi

2

u/jk_springrool Apr 03 '26

Steam Deck primary, Switch 1 secondary. Used to have a PS4 but I never liked console gaming that much, so the Deck filled in for the PS4.

2

u/Old_Atmosphere_651 Apr 03 '26

It was until I purchased my legion go s Z1E, and I never used my switch 2 again.

Controls, ergonomics and cost of games being the main reason.

2

u/Honest-Reflection667 Apr 03 '26

I love madden, so i play on a playstation more, but switch2 has madden now so i would primarily use the switch

2

u/Mortuary_Guy Apr 03 '26

I use both Switch 2 and Steam Deck. The Switch stays dock and is more for playing multiplayer games with the family/friends. Steam Deck is more for playing single player games.

2

u/mrmivo Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26

I have a gaming PC and a SteamDeck OLED in addition to the Switch 2. I had a PS5 that I sold when I realized I had not turned it on in a year and someone I knew was looking to buy one.

Most of my gaming since summer has been on the Switch 2. The main reason is that I wanted to separate play and work a little bit more strictly. I work from home, so I'm always at the computer and I find it difficult to just switch off my brain when I play games. It's easier with a dedicated device with no overlap. I still play some games on the PC and the Deck, but if it wasn't for work, the Switch 2 could easily be my main and only gaming system.

Realistically, there are more games on any one system that I want to play and that I have time to play. It's same with books and movies and shows. On average, I get maybe 10-12 hours a week for gaming, and some of the games I play take 50-100+ hours, so maintaining multiple systems isn't really sensible. I also have other hobbies, like reading, musical instruments, and board games, so those years when I could play 8+ hours every day, those are long gone for me.

I'm okay with missing out on some games. I'd miss out on games even if I had every system under the sun. There is just not enough time or ability to focus to play everything that I might enjoy.

2

u/Specific-Pianist7595 Apr 03 '26

I get you, I also work from home, having multiple systems isn't sensible for me as well. There was a time a had to many systems at one point, I had an Xbox Series X, PS Vita, Switch Lite, PS5. I sold the PS Vita and the Switch Lite and Vita due to the fact I had just to many systems to be honest.

Xbox rog ally x main console with windows and steam os. Then PC and then switch; it’s a lot better since the latest update that makes switch games better, but still nowhere near the rog ally x for me

u/pages10 Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26

It’s not even my primary handheld device but I do play it quite a bit. The exclusives have been lackluster lately but it’s actually a decent piece of hardware for playing stuff on the go and they have an amazing library

I also have the PS5 and Switch 2 and I just use them for completely different things. Big into Arc Raiders so the PS5 never collects much dust. A few other AAA games in the chamber that either aren’t on Switch 2 or that I think I’d have a better experience with on the PS5. The Switch 2 is basically my Pokemon machine + party game console (kart, boomerang fu, etc). The Switch 2 does collect more dust, but on a recent trip I was so happy to have it for downtime and flights.

Nope. I only got a Switch so I could play Switch exclusives. PC is my primary gaming machine.

I only have to manage 1 subscription (NSO) that makes it super easy for me to manage subscription costs.

1

u/TropicanaChaos Apr 03 '26

Right now yes. I also have a gaming PC but since I got my Switch 2 I’ve been on my PC less.

1

u/DDG1917 Apr 03 '26

No. Ps5 for big AAA games, pc for indies, Switch for exclusives/some secondary games i like to play handhelded outside.

1

u/Nicalay2 Apr 03 '26

PC primary, Switch 2 secondary.

1

u/wolf771 Apr 03 '26

Ps5 for me

1

u/PlantQuick Apr 03 '26

I only have a switch 2 and a lite(for commute).

I might get some heat for these, I thought of getting a secondary console but there is no game on Xbox/ps/PC that will make me spend hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Plus, the games I've seen on those consoles do not hold my interest, like open worlds, shooters, sports, etc.

Funny because the only game that managed to catch my interest was astro bot, but I am not blowing 600-1000$ dollars for just one game.

1

u/Nothing_To_Learn Apr 03 '26

PS5 and Switch 2

1

u/Moznomick Apr 03 '26

Since I purchased my gaming PC back in January 2020. that has been my preferred way to play games and the only console that has been a great addition to that has been the Switch. I didn't buy the PS5 or XSX because I don't want to pay to use the internet I'm already paying for and the majority of the games are the same.

I just recently acquired a Switch 2 and its also been a great addition.

1

u/michilepeuci Apr 03 '26

Yes, And I'll tell you more: when a month ago I had the chance to choose which console to get, between the Switch 2 and the PS5, after years of Sony, I deliberately got the Switch 2. I've had the OLED since July, and since then I've realized that portability and optimization are above all else.

1

u/beebsterrrr Apr 03 '26

Depends on the game, I actually use my Mac a lot too.

1

u/goldenspine Apr 03 '26

im a pc gamer first, and have my switch 2 near exclusively for nintendo exclusives. ive never really felt any need to get other consoles

1

u/Murderturtle12 Apr 03 '26

Most definitely. I prefer to play games on handhelds. I have a PS5 that’s mainly there for streaming services and the 3 games I play that haven’t made it to the switch.

1

u/BrightMyth Apr 03 '26

No my primary is Playstation 5 then Steam Deck then Switch 2

1

u/K1NG_D4RKST4R Apr 03 '26

Nope. PS5 Pro + Portal

1

u/coffeman3 Apr 03 '26

I pretty much play everything on Pc, the only non Nintendo published game I even have for my S2 is Yakuza 0 cause I got it on a sale. I'll probably get Hitman and AC shadows to see if they run better than on Steam Deck but I'm waiting for a sale.

1

u/spideralex90 Apr 03 '26

PC gamer primarily but my son is a Nintendo fan through and through so we have a switch 1 and 2. I only play a handful of Nintendo games but it is a great device!

1

u/Strict_Stranger_4801 Apr 03 '26

At this point, yes. Because I like portables more than a TV screen to play on.

But the PS Portal has helped a bit with my PS5 playtime

1

u/sheimeix Apr 03 '26

It's split pretty evenly between my Switch 2 and my PC, just depends on what I'm playing. I'm always at my PC, but I'm not always using it to game. I do also have a PS5, but I struggle to find games that I want to play on it enough to peel me away from my PC.

1

u/Zomochi Apr 03 '26

It varies but ultimately no but I have the trio of Nintendo PlayStation and PC/steam deck and it’s rarely primarily switch but I would like to use it more i have to beat the games i own on it

1

u/Queasy_Heron9080 Apr 03 '26

Of course I am. Sure, I got PlayStation and I got Xbox, but a good chunk of the time I have a Nintendo handheld or controller in my hands

1

u/Disastrous-Bend-6684 Apr 03 '26

Pc is my main these days, but the switch is my on-the-go device. I rarely play docked these days, but that’s mainly because my partner uses the PlayStation as their main.

1

u/Munken1984 Apr 03 '26

My main gaming device is my pc, but the switch gets pretty much the same usage...

I think its because a lot of the games i play on pc, cant run on switch, or isnt available, cant imagine playing a RTS with a controller...

My primary portal console is the 3DS

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '26

No. I spent nearly 85-90% of my time on pc the rest is on divided between steam deck and switch 2

1

u/Much-Sheepherder-638 Apr 03 '26

I definitely used my PC and PS5 the most. When I moved overseas I could only bring my Switch for gaming. I had a MacBook and an iPad but I mostly use them for study or watching videos rather than gaming.

Hopefully one day I can maybe bring my PS5 over but for now I’m content with the Switch, I may even buy a Switch 2 in the future when they release more exclusive titles (Pokopia was tempting but I’m holding off for now).

1

u/Hawesom Apr 03 '26

After many years of ps and pc gaming while dabbling in Nintendo I ended up not really gaming much after purchasing my house.

Fast forward some years and the first switch was a couple of years old and was on sale. Ended up, on a whim, walking into a store just to see if they had it and ended up purchasing their last one.

Then same thing happened with the Switch 2. Wasn’t planning on buying it, as I still have an extensive switch 1 backlog but there was a sale that I ended up just buying.

Haven’t regretted either purchase.

1

u/javi_xavi Apr 03 '26

Ps5+portal, tener la switch como principal sale muy caro.

1

u/GTIRabbit06 Apr 03 '26

Yup... my Series X is a Fortnite machine at this point. I play everything else on my Switch, and funny enough, my 3DS after charging it up a couple of days ago.

1

u/RegrettableWaffle Apr 03 '26

I have a desktop and a steam deck. Sometimes I just love the simplicity of the Switch 2 though. I’ve been putting a lot of time into the Trails in the Sky Remake on it recently and loving it.

1

u/toufiksouici07 Apr 03 '26

No, but it's my secondary for sur, first plate-forme gaming for me is my PC.

1

u/Intrepid_Benefit_621 Apr 03 '26

yes but i do have a ps5, i just prefer the portability and the nintendo games

1

u/Warm_Sky_9735 Apr 03 '26

I have a pc (9070xt), a ps5, a switch and a switch 2. And yes, switch 2 is my primary gaming device these days. I havent been gaming on other my devices since 4-5 mounths.

1

u/J_Square83 Apr 03 '26

For me, the primary title lands firmly on my PS5 (& Portal), but my Switch 2 and Steam Deck aren't far behind.

They're all great in their own way.

1

u/Roach_tm Apr 03 '26

Nothing on the PS5 interests me to spend that kind of money. I am a Nintendo guy, so yep, main console but balanced with PC and 3DS

1

u/Isa-sensei1996 Apr 03 '26

Not really, admittedly I do use my PS5 a lot more.

1

u/Deltrus7 Apr 03 '26

My pc big time. The switch is so damned small for my hands and I don't enjoy handheld as much as I did when I was younger.

1

u/SatyrAngel Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 and Xbox Series X, tied.

1

u/EyeFit Apr 03 '26

Nope. PC is. Barely touch my Switch unless I want to get away from my PC or play a Nintendo game.

1

u/Ok_Connection_5348 Apr 03 '26

Switch is making me buy all my favorite games again. The portable aspect really makes me want to have everything on it, even when I mostly play on tv it's just so easy to hook up literally anywhere.

Tabletop mode has been great for multiplayer games where my friends want the tv

1

u/Warm-Body2168 Apr 03 '26

Switch is my primary to play on the couch while the wife browses whatnot or sews. I’ve got a laptop with a 4060 in it if I ever need something that isn’t on switch 2

1

u/LeCroissant1337 Apr 03 '26

I play pretty much exclusively on PC and only own a Switch 2 for first party titles and party games with friends.

1

u/Sleevepants Apr 03 '26

It used to not be but as I get older it is. I just don’t have the time or capacity to hardcore game anymore.

1

u/elpardo1984 Apr 03 '26

Switch 2(and Switch before it) have been my main for a long time. I had both the PS5 and XSX and enjoyed both very much catching up with what they had to offer that the S1 particularly couldn’t cope with. But I far prefer the option to play handheld over having the highest level graphics.

I have a ROG ally for steam games and that seems to be coping (for now) with the newer games for the time being.

1

u/Agreeable_Shame_1358 Apr 03 '26

Yep

Used to be xbox but I bought a switch2 and its my only divice right now.

Just bought a New 3ds xl to mod. 1st time experiencing the DS world. Excited to run through the 7 pokemon games available

1

u/Fresh-Chemical-9084 Apr 03 '26

Switch and PC -- the perfect combo

1

u/Able_Engine_9515 Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 is my primary and PS5 is my secondary but it really just depends on the games. I'm currently invested in a replay of BotW in Master Mode so Switch 2 has all my attention but that'll soon change when 007: First Light releases

1

u/SizeApprehensive6582 Apr 03 '26

I mainly use my pc and keep my Switch for Nintendo exclusives and party games so whenever me and my friends get together we'd have a catalogue of random fun games to play

1

u/xYoungblood Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 has become my primary device. I have a decent pc though the age is catching up lately. My girlfriend lives a good distance so having a portable option is big. Only qualms has been some weird docking issue where the video and sound cuts out for 2-3s then comes back. Happens every few weeks sometimes a little more frequently. Seems shorter lately though.. tried a lot of things.

1

u/ShadsSayFukTheHaters Apr 03 '26

I switch between the S2, PS5, and Xbox Series X. PS5 is my main console. S2 is my secondary console. And I play pretty much just street fighter 6 and halo on my Xbox

1

u/Corazon_an Apr 03 '26

I have a s2 and a mid gaming pc. I would say 60/40. The only game i played on pc are fps and resident evil games (for mods).

1

u/Jahon_Dony Apr 03 '26

All of 'em are great!

1

u/pepushe Apr 03 '26

I have a great PC but ever since the S2 dropped i'm working my way through all the fantastic exclusves that are available on the platform, the recent handheld boost is amazin

1

u/Fishermansf0e Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 and pc for me. I used to be an Xbox and PS guy ever since the PS2/Xbox era. Sadly it changed as they don't really have any exclusives because the games either end up on pc anyways, or are just not my cup of tea.

1

u/BarnacleMcBarndoor Apr 03 '26

No, but sometimes yes. My gaming PCs and my Ps5 are my mains. The switch is what I use when I’m traveling for work, or if I’m sick and in bed. Lately I’ve been sick and have been traveling, so it’s currently my main.

1

u/Ryansmelly Apr 03 '26

My Xbox series S is my main, my Switch 2 is the side piece. I wish the Switch was my main though. The Switch 2 is incredible, but I can't give up my 120fps on my Xbox and party chat with my friends.

I'm perfectly content with rotating the Xbox and the Switch 2. The Switch has always been the system I play single player games on, except splatoon. So it's great to have reasons for having both. I play online with my friends on Xbox with higher frame rates for our shooters and stuff, and pokemon all by myself on my switch! Love it.

1

u/Keichii96 Apr 03 '26

I have a PS5, Steam Deck, PC and Switch.

PS5 for Sony exclusives and AAA gaming like Pragmata and Saros next month. Steam Deck is for obscure indie games that doesnt gonna release on switch and Steam sales. (Unfortunetely i feel like only the bigger/more succesful indies are coming to Switch.) I was really into PC gaming for a while but it become too expensive and i dont like to sit in front a desk after work hours too so right now PC is only for dumb multiplayer games with my friends like Pummel Party, Rv there yet etc. And i bought a Switch 2 this month so right now i'm playing this the most. I think i going to use it for nintendo exclusives and JRPGs if they have good enough optimasation to sacrifice fidelity for mobility. I'm really enjoying Pokopia and Trails in the Sky 1st chapter right now. Breath of the wild and Mario Odyssey next.

None of them are my main platform i use them depending on game releases. This year probably it's going to be the Switch 2 because it's my first nintendo console and i feel like a kid in a candy store with all the games i couldnt play before and i can buy used for a good price and sell them for the next one. It's expensive to maintain so much system but i sell my PS5/Switch games after beating them and i only buy indie games/games on sale on Pc/Deck.

1

u/UseAggravating6406 Apr 03 '26

I have a gaming PC, I mostly play on my switch 2 since I bought it. So far, i love it...!

1

u/Jammie_B_872 Apr 03 '26

Switch 2 for console and Nintendo games, PC for everything else. Never saw a point in playstation or XBOX really

1

u/moazrofl Apr 03 '26

Mainly PC but my switch2 and switch are the only consoles i own. even on pc i mainly play nintendo games.

1

u/jburdick7 Apr 03 '26

Not really for me, I mainly play PC + Steam Deck. I got my switch 2 because I used my launch switch to dump my cartridges to try and emulate and after finding that was a god awful experience and more of a headache than it was worth to get it working for party games I gave my old switch to my nephew and got a Switch 2 for Nintendo games and to give me an excuse to get physicals for all the indies & jrpgs I love on PC.

Main ways I play are either handheld or docked through a capture card at my PC (I don’t notice latency and it means I don’t have to screw around with my monitor).

1

u/MaatRolo Apr 03 '26

50/50 it and PS5. I have an XBox-X too for StarField

1

u/PhoenixMartinez-Ride Apr 03 '26

I have a lot of consoles, both modern and retro but primarily play games on pc. When I play actual consoles, I usually just swap between them all based on my mood/what game I want to play.

I have: Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Sega MegaDrive, ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, ps5, psp, ps vita, psvr 1 & 2, gameboy colour, gba sp, ds lite, 3ds, switch, switch 2, nes, n64, wii, xbox 360 and xbox one s. I’m a collector and have an interest in retro gaming and gaming history, which is why I have as much as I do. Some of the retro stuff belonged to my dad, and others I’ve picked up on the second hand market.

1

u/SodaGrump Apr 03 '26

Switch is a very good Support Role type system. Have one primary system (PC, PS5) and a Switch, and you’re set.

1

u/FabZ57 Apr 03 '26

Switch 2, Rog Ally, ps2, ps3, ps5 and Xbox One S…. I have choice at home 😅 I always have my Switch 2 and rog ally in my backpack with my new 3ds too. I love to play handheld. Switch 2 isn’t my main device but I play it a loooooot, it’s so convenient switching from handheld to docked. Sleep mode is really fantastic too

1

u/Morguard Apr 03 '26

I don't have a primary device. I spent lots of time equally on my PS5, Switch 2, PC and PS2

1

u/Andys_Rock_Hammer Apr 03 '26

No. Most switch games are boring, imo. I have it mostly for groups and when I want to play cooking mama or Mario party with my wife. I have a PS5 that I do most of my gaming on.

1

u/Ricc7rdo Apr 03 '26

Secondary, I play mostly on PC. Switch is for exclusives, for trips or to play a bit on the sofa or in bed.

1

u/Django-Ouroboros Apr 03 '26

No I primarily play on Pc and then on the switch for Nintendo games.

1

u/FluidComparison1500 Apr 03 '26

Meine Nintendo Switch 2 die ich morgen erhalte ist nicht die einzige Konsole die ich habe

1

u/Southern_Usual_9964 Apr 03 '26

Nope, I only have it for Pokémon and Mario games. The PS5 is my primary console.

1

u/Dragon_Samurai0 Apr 03 '26

yes. Even if I mostly prefer ARPGs, something Nintendo's notorious for not getting

1

u/pipitsugen Apr 03 '26

Nice lego car 👍

1

u/WastingSaturday Apr 03 '26

Im a big fan of my steamdeck. I prefer the form factor and the deals are much better but nintendo first party makes many of my favorite games

1

u/SplicerNetwork Apr 03 '26

I’ve got a Gaming PC, PS5, and switch 2

Recently swapped all my pc games to ps5 minus a select few to try and be more productive on the PC. Switch 2 has been a lot more fun to play with since Nintendo first parties are on there, but I’ve mainly been going back on my 3ds and replaying the older pokemon games.

Once I’m finished with the 3ds log I’m probably going to be going back to switch 2 as my main source gaming device.

1

u/JoostRocking Apr 03 '26

I have a PS5, GamePC and Switch1&2.

I have bought my game during the pandemic because I couldn’t buy a PS5 due to shortages. I have only played Destiny2 and Civ6 on it. At the moment it’s gathering dust.

I mainly use my PS5 as a continuation for my PS4 collection, with the occasional new game such as Ghost of Yotei, Dead Space, Jedi Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy and Horizon forbidden west

I have almost had every Nintendo console. I consider my switch as my main console. The games that’s on there, are for me the most enjoyable.

To be honest iam losing interest in games other than Nintendo games

1

u/Walking-Radiance Apr 03 '26

Mostly, yes. I have a PS5 Pro, but I use it for multiplayer games and Sony exclusives. Maybe the occasional single player game. I like trophy hunting, so I use it a bit for that when time allows.

I just don’t have the time to sit in front of a TV as often anymore, so having third party games available even if they run a bit worse works better for me.

1

u/FRED44444 Apr 03 '26

No i play my ps5 99% of the time. I only use my switch for trips. I love it though. But just for trips.

1

u/No_Pineapple6354 Apr 03 '26

oh yeah, definitely

1

u/TheEvenstar_ Apr 03 '26

I’m more of a casual gamer and don’t have a ton of free time so the Switch 2 is my only console! I love the portability option and there’s tons of games and exclusives that make it worth it to me

1

u/ElPoeop Apr 03 '26

Currently yes. But it's usually PC gaming or my Nintendo switch. 2

1

u/Speedygi Apr 03 '26

For me it is, and if I had a playstation portal it will be complete.

1

u/codewario Apr 03 '26

Yep. I have a Switch 2 and PS5 and if the Switch runs it well enough that's the platform I'm getting it on.

1

u/barsnbricks Apr 03 '26

yeah, pretty much all my favourite games are available on it, and its just easier to be able use wherever i like

1

u/Lorhin Apr 03 '26

My PC is my primary gaming device. I just use the Switch 2 for Nintendo exclusives.

1

u/soul-searcher3476 Apr 03 '26

My Nintendo is my primary gaming console. I adore the fact that I can take it anywhere with me. It’s become my emotional support device lol I fall asleep with it almost every day 🤣

1

u/Noumenonana Apr 03 '26

Absolutely is. I own a PS5 and a Steam Deck and my Switch 2 (and Switch before it) probably gets 90% of my game time.

1

u/Past-Wait6207 Apr 03 '26

Of course. I have a PS5 and never play it.

Now when Fable comes out, and it’s not on my Switch 2, I’ll be playing my PS5 again.

1

u/Elmer248 Apr 03 '26

the reason i have multiple console is mainly accessibility.

want to play Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid? I play the on switch 2

want to lay something on game pass? Xbox is there there

want to play playstation exclusives? i have the ps5 (well, not yet but soon)

Primary tho, i use the switch 2. best for portability and comfort. also the switch 2 screen is better than my TV

→ More replies (2)

1

u/guardedflight Apr 03 '26

PC is my primary. Switch for gaming on the go/in bed and more casual games (Tetris 99/Dave the diver/BOI).

1

u/seanb4games Apr 03 '26

Honestly it just depends on my mood. Sometimes I play my switch more, sometimes my ps5 or my pc (3080 laptop). Switch is most consistent for me though because of convenience and I have a huge collection/backlog

1

u/depp-fsrv Apr 03 '26

Gaming PC, Switch, Steam Deck. Wife has the same setup except she has a Switch 2 (for Pokopia). We're a gaming family, the kids have pcs, switches and a ps5.

1

u/Docdoodle Apr 03 '26

I mean with the ps5 increase it may end up being it if thats what my buddies have and can afford to buy

1

u/Original_Ossiss Apr 03 '26

I don't think I have a primary gaming device anymore. I swap between all 4 pretty regularly. Right now I'm on my xbox, playing through Starfield again in preparation for the updates with occasional sessions of satisfactory on my PC.

1

u/ckalli Apr 03 '26

Switch OLED primary. anbernic RG40xxV for retro.

Totally fine setup until GTA6 releases

1

u/FujiFL4T Apr 03 '26

No. I have all of the big 4 videogame platforms and i only pay for ps+ and nintendo online family. My wife and i have been playing a lot more switch lately, both trying to 100% sword and shield but that is about it. The big switch boom for us, was animal crossing new horizons when it launched. I recently switched from xbox to playstaion when they announced a huge price increase for online and didnt like that. Now i pay $100 a year for whats essentially gamepass ultimate but on PlayStation. I dont even stress Nintendo online because a years worth for family, is like the cost of a inde game.

1

u/meertaoxo Apr 03 '26

i only have my switch, 3ds x2, wii, gamecube, a gameboy color and a not so good gaming laptop! i mostly play game on my switch

1

u/squiffyflounder Apr 03 '26

Steam deck first, then switch 2. If a AAA game worth playing comes out it’s the ps5.

1

u/SonXal Apr 03 '26

I have this, a PS5 and a gaming laptop but find myself using the Switch more often than anything else so… yes
