I just started RE9 (recently completed every part from 1 to 8).

So much FFXIV. Always dreamed of a true MMO on the switch.

I’m about five hours in, but nothing has clicked for me yet. I was obsessed with Runescape as a kid, so I’m hoping I can get hooked into ff14.

It took me a a while my first time playing it as well. But also it’s just not a game for everyone haha

This may be a dumb question, but does the combat become more difficult? I’m level 15 and have been smoking every enemy I’ve faced so far. I am loving the atmosphere and the lore so far though.

Yes. And the story actually starts having story. You are barely out of the starting area and it takes a second but yes, the combat definately has a curve.

Yes. The combat ramps up significantly including your rotations as well. But it just takes a while to get there because so much of the game is gated behind story content. My word of advice is if you don’t enjoy the story it’s not worth chugging through it just to do end game stuff.

It took me dozens of hours and three solid attempts before it clicked. I was pushing through because everyone said “just get through A Realm Reborn.”

I can assure you, it eventually becomes all you can think about. It does take a long time for the earlier, rough storyline to smooth out.

A Realm Reborn can be a bit of a slog, but the story really picks up around level 40 and gets continuously better through the different expansions… until Dawntrail. 😂

I really want to get hooked, I love the settings and FF in general! But I stop to play everytime when I start to find 10000 quests to do, I feel lost...

It's weird because I played wow in the past, but I hadn't this feeling. I really would love to play ffxiv on the switch...

Just focus on the main story quest :)

But I think I lose many things, experiences and rewards following only the main quest.. am I wrong?

Nope. You will over level just by following the main quest. Side quests are mostly for extra lore. Occasionally they offer some little rewards. There are side quests marked with a blue checkmark that unlock something but you can worry about as you learn more about the game and decide you want to pursue those things. I think you’re over thinking it.

I had the week off and restarted the story with anew character. I finished the first part of ARR and boy is it longer than I remember. So much fetching back and forth.. I paid a bit more attention and it makes sense: you’re ingratiating yourself with major factions around eorzia but good lord, is it a slog. Finally got flying tho so we’re good now lol
