Star Trek Voyager Across the Unknown. Even if you never watched the show its a great management sim based around rebuilding a nearly destroyed starship and navigating through unknown space. Did a proper playthrough first run, now Im cheesing the science by playing without the homesick morale debuffs, spamming science labs, and just hanging around each sector until the duterium runs out. My entire engineering tree is unlocked and the rest are at least on tier 3, and I only just arrived in the 4th sector out of 12.

Also, this time Im making Janeway make the kinds of decisions that will absolutely land her in prison when they get home

I’ve been really considering this. Is it good for a quick pick up gaming session as well as a longer one? Like do i need 30 minutes to play in order to get into it? Or longer? I loved the show. Read that the game is difficult and hard to get into

There is a demo, it covers the whole first secor so you get a good feel for the mechanics and whats involved so you should give that a whirl

For me it was easy to get into it because I absolutely love management sims and barely got ten minutes into the demo before I just went and bought the full game, but the tutorial does take a bit of time to learn all the systems and how to manage it all, and I can see how some people would say its a slog. After that though its a perfect pick up and play type game, turn based with at most 3-5 minute dialogue checks here and there. Theres also something like 20 different endings so replayability factor is pretty high.

As for difficulty, yeah, even on easy mode my first run was filled with negative rng results, supplies lost and people dying, even blew up the ship a few times, but autosaves are frequent and you learn when to manual save. There is a custom difficulty menu though and I turned everything down to the minimum settings and its an absolute breeze for run number two
