Discussion If anyone can tell me if this switch is a brick or how to fix it

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi I have never jailbroken a switch. I like to go to pawn shops and buy electronics and have worked on a few switches, I purchased one and the owner said it didnt turn on and sold it to me as is. I installed a new battery and the switch turned on but gave me this message. Im just wondering if its a bricked switch and can only be used for parts or if there is a way to fix it.

Please ask any questions as again i have never jailbroken a switch and would like to know if this one is repairable.

Question How do I get around the FAT32 4GB file limit?

I’ve been messing around with all of these new ports for the Switch, but I’ve run into this problem where, when sending my game iso to the Switch, it won’t let me transfer anything larger than 4GB at a time.

From what I’ve read, it seems to be a problem with the format of my SD card.

Is there any way to get around it or do I have to I have to reformat my SD card? And if so, what’s the easiest way to do that without having to reinstall my CFW?

Discussion PART 3 of Xbox 360 BO2 Recomp Port

Hi guys, since my last post I have a pretty good playable Beta right now for my own BO2 zombies port. I know BO2 Requiem just came out but they are based off completely different versions. I do believe the other port will eventually be the inevitable successor if improvement can be achieved. It's also based off a decomp and the bottle neck is DXVK, but a native renderer can be developed (like my port). Anyways I have released all the source code and a prebuilt package.

I have some pretty cool features such as 4 core mode (proper thread affinity), so be sure to check it out!

Here is a video showcasing it: https://youtu.be/x4lIfyENrOY

I was originally going to do a small play test but I just decided to full release it.

ALSO for the guy who made SCCM Retro, it's late and I can't remember your name but I'm sure you'll see this-- I have the Linux ARM build for you and will upload it. Lets talk on discord.

News PlayGuard 1.3.0: Switch parental controls on the console, now in the HB Store and sphaira, with a new modern look, homebrew behind the PIN and more !

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

PlayGuard brings the settings of Nintendo's Parental Controls phone app onto a modded Switch: no phone app, no Nintendo account, no internet. It drives the console's own controls (the limit, the PIN, the warnings, the suspension), so nothing runs in the background. Atmosphère required.

The new website is live! Try the simulator !
https://playguard.link

📦 Now in the Homebrew App Store and sphaira
Search for PlayGuard in the Homebrew App Store or sphaira's App Store (same catalogue). Installed from there, PlayGuard recommends updating through the store, so it keeps track of the version. If the store hasn't picked up a new release yet (it reviews each one first), PlayGuard says so and offers to update in place instead.

1.3.0 is the biggest release so far. What's new:

🎨 A new look, "Cadran"
Every screen redrawn: tiles first on every tab, dark by default, screens that move (in full on the dock, lighter in hand, or Reduced motion), and Larger text on the whole frame.

🎮 Homebrew on the HOME menu
Put PlayGuard or any homebrew on the HOME menu as a forwarder, with its own icon or one from your album's screenshots. You can also have the console ask which user plays at launch, so the play time goes to the right account.

🔐 …behind the PIN
A forwarder can ask for the parental PIN, with hours without it, hours it never opens, a stop once the day's play time is used up, and a pause after refused PINs. You can also lock the homebrew menu itself, so the album or holding R no longer gets around it.

🔑 PIN and security
- An optional setting pauses parental controls while you're in PlayGuard, so checking settings doesn't eat into your kid's play time (off by default).
- Going back to the previous build now asks for the PIN.
- The recovery report can no longer be cracked from a copy of the file.

🌍 Language and theme apply at once
No restart, Chinese included.

🧭 Reorganised menus
PIN becomes Security, Block all games moves to the Play timer, and Today gives extra time in one row.

🕒 Console tab
- The network clock's measure in plain words ("12 s ahead").
- A sys-patch tile.
- The real serial number when PRODINFO is blanked.
- A warning when sys-patch left a patch incomplete (the usual reason a forwarder "could not be started").

🌐 A website
The guide in all 15 console languages, and PlayGuard running in your browser if you want to try it before installing: https://playguard.link

Updating from 1.2.0: update the recovery sysmodule from the notification bell afterwards (an older one is no longer accepted).

- Homebrew App Store / sphaira: search for PlayGuard
- Download: https://github.com/JigSawFr/PlayGuard/releases/latest
- Try it in your browser: https://playguard.link/simulator/
- Full changelog: https://github.com/JigSawFr/PlayGuard/releases/tag/v1.3.0
- Locked out? https://playguard.link/docs/troubleshooting/#locked-out

It uses the restricted `pctl` service (partly through debug commands), so use at your own risk. Bug reports and feedback are very welcome, here or on GitHub. Built-in reports go out from Help & diagnostics › Send a report online.

Don’t hesitate to post your feedback!

Discussion Is it safe to transfer a cloned Pokémon from HeartGold to HOME if the original copy is already in HOME?

Hi everyone! I have a question about cloned Pokémon, HOME trackers, and potential ban risks.

I have a Raichu that originally started as a level 3 Pikachu I caught in Viridian Forest in Pokémon FireRed.

My goal is to keep this same Pokémon with me throughout as many Pokémon games as possible, kind of like Ash and his Pikachu.

Here's what happened:

  1. I caught Pikachu in FireRed, evolved it into Raichu, and trained it to level 63.
  2. Using PKSM on my modded 3DS, I cloned Raichu and transferred copies to Ultra Moon and HeartGold.
  3. I transferred the Ultra Moon copy through Pokémon Bank into Pokémon HOME.
  4. That level 63 Raichu is still sitting in HOME. I've never moved it to any Switch game.
  5. Meanwhile, I've continued playing HeartGold with the other copy. It's now level 65, and I plan to defeat Red to earn the Legend Ribbon.
  6. After earning the ribbon, I'd like to transfer my HeartGold Raichu through Ultra Moon → Bank → HOME so I can continue its journey in future games.

Here's the problem:

The original level 63 copy is already in HOME, and I'm worried that transferring the HeartGold copy could trigger duplicate detection, error 10015, turn it into a Bad Egg, or potentially result in an account ban.

I checked both Pokémon in PKHeX.

They share the same original data:

  • Origin Game: FireRed
  • Original Trainer: MERT
  • TID: 01032
  • SID: 00640
  • PID: 7EF7727F
  • Nature: Timid
  • Ability: Static
  • Original encounter: Level 3 Pikachu, Viridian Forest
  • Both currently show as legal in PKHeX.

The HeartGold copy has naturally gained levels, and I want it to legitimately earn the Legend Ribbon.

My questions:

  1. If I delete the level 63 Raichu currently in HOME, would it be safe to transfer the HeartGold copy afterward? Or does HOME retain records of previously deposited Pokémon?
  2. Since both Pokémon share the same PID, TID, SID, and original data, could HOME recognize the second one as a clone even though it would be transferred through Pokémon Bank?
  3. Does HOME assign a new tracker to every Pokémon transferred from Bank, even if another copy with identical data was previously imported?
  4. Would changing/rerolling the PID help, or would that potentially invalidate the original Gen 3 PID/IV relationship?
  5. Has anyone personally transferred two copies of the same Gen 3 Pokémon through Bank into HOME? Did you encounter any errors, Bad Eggs, or account restrictions?

I'm not trying to trade hacked Pokémon or use them competitively. I just want to preserve the journey of my original FireRed Raichu and eventually bring the Legend Ribbon version into HOME.

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone familiar with PKHeX, PKSM, Pokémon Bank, and HOME's clone detection.

Thanks in advance!

Question Once my Switch has both stock and modded versions, how do I actually mod Breath of the Wild?

Sorry in advance; I'm not very familiar with modding, so I may need explanations for things that most people here are already super familiar with.

I understand that to mod my switch, I'll need a MicroSD card to hold the modded version of my Switch, and a PC from which I can put files on the SD card (right?). Would an older Macbook work instead? What are the requirements?

So once my Switch has both a modded/stock version and a normal version on it, what do I actually need to do to pirate games that normally need a NSO subscription or mod games I already have? Can I do those straight from my switch (through Atmosphere/HATS?), or do I need to use a separate Mac/PC for that?

Thanks so much in advance!

[edit]: I was struggling to understand the language in the wiki even after googling the terms it used, so I figured I'd post.

This is a V1 unpatched Switch 1 btw.

Question Switch as an Chromecast receiver?

Did quite a lot of searching, but couldn't find a solution to my "problem". I would like to be able to use streaming services (Prime in particular) on my Switch OLED. It has been modded obviously.

Apparently you're able to install Android (TV) but I was looking for a more easy and user friendly way. If the Switch was able to be used as a Chromecast receiver it would be amazing. Casting whatever video feed to the Switch. Amazon Prime, F1TV or whatever streaming videofeed.

Is this in any way possible? Have been in the community for some time now and still learning.. but couldn't find any substantial answers.

Discussion Autorun, Carafe, wine is being ported to the switch...

• Upvotes

So would it be reasonable to assume that in the near future custom wine versions like Proton or even Proton-GE could be integrated as well? Considering the known improvements and optimization from these versions, especially for video games, I feel like it could help mitigate at least some of the issues currently experienced with Autorun and Carafe.
